SAMPLE

This litany was written for the Easter Vigil Celebration of Baptism. We have used it also for confirmation liturgies and for the feast of All Saints, both times accompanying a sprinkling rite. In addition, over the years we have found many other uses for it. You may want to employ two cantors for contrast, perhaps a male and female voice. For best effect, vary the instrumentation verse by verse. In the absence of a guitarist, a pianist may arpeggiate the notes of the organ part or improvise using the chords provided over the keyboard accompaniment. I have surely not exhausted the list of “holy men and women”; I encourage you to add verses of your own creation, if you desire.

Esta letanía fue escrita para la Liturgia Bautismal de la Vigilia Pascual. La hemos utilizado para liturgias de Confirmación y para la celebración de Todos los Santos, en las dos ocasiones acompañando al rito de aspersión. Adicionalmente, a través de los años hemos encontrado varios usos para esta letanía. Para un contraste se puede utilizar dos cantores, posiblemente un hombre y una mujer. Para mejor efecto, se recomienda variar la instrumentación de estrofa a estrofa. Si no hay guitarrista, el tecladista puede arpegiar las notas del acompañamiento para órgano o improvisar utilizando los acordes arriba del acompañamiento. Seguro que no he nombrado toda la lista de “hombres y mujeres santos”; les recomiendo que agreguen estrofas de su propia creación, si lo desean.
