Believe Achieve Succeed Katie Katie attended Dean Trust Wigan between 2014-2019 and is now studying Law at Oxford University. Katie said, “My time at Dean Trust Wigan was transformational in a multitude of ways. All of my teachers constantly went above and beyond to ensure that I understood the content. This included taking the time to discuss my work in depth, which helped me to improve my performance further. Not only this, they made the lessons engaging so that learning became a fun, enjoyable process. Having gained confidence in both myself and my academic ability, I was able to be more ambitious when making my applications to universities”. Katie’s parent said, “The school was a place which nurtured and encouraged Katie’s learning. Katie missed 4 months of her last year due to illness and the school supported her home learning in ways which I believe went above and beyond expectations. Teachers emailed to check in on her learning and more importantly to me her health/wellbeing. The staff were amazing and could not do enough to help support us as a family during that time and for that I will be eternally grateful”.

“My son really enjoys his lessons, his teachers have had a big impact upon him in such a short space of time. As parents we cannot thank you enough for that.” Year 7 Parent

Believe Achieve Succeed Corey Attended Dean Trust Wigan between 2014-2020 and is now at Lancaster University studying for a BSc. Corey said, “The support I received was of an outstanding standard and I was consistently reminded to always strive for my goals; anything is possible if you have the right attitude! Towards the end of my secondary school studies, I had my mind set on my dream career, a commercial airline pilot. Although I was completing my Private Pilot’s License outside of school on weekends, I knew that it would be my grades that would set me apart from other applicants”. Corey’s parents said, “Dean Trust Wigan was without a doubt the best school we could have chosen. Our son was initially predicted grades 4 and 5 across most subjects and he achieved GCSE grades 8 and 9. This was purely as a result of the dedication of the staff and the effort and hard work of our son”.

“Staff are proud to work in the school.” Ofsted July 2021

The Dean Trust’s vision is to provide good schools for all of the communities that we serve. This is what parents, quite rightly, expect. We have developed a culture of excellence across the organisation and provide outstanding opportunities to challenge pupils of all ages. All of our work is founded on a traditional approach towards education, with respect at the heart of our work. At The Dean Trust, pupils enjoy coming to school as they are positively challenged and feel like they are contributing to society. As such, they have good attendance and ever improving progress and attainment. To achieve this, we employ talented and committed people who also believe that every pupil can do their best given a chance and encouragement. Our primary and secondary schools have developed very close links that involve sharing resources, staff and systems. They all subscribe to the overarching vision of the Trust. The Believe Learning Institute, based at Ashton on Mersey School, symbolises The Dean Trust’s commitment to a schoolled self-improving system. It incorporates our Trust Improvement Partnerships and a comprehensive suite of nationally accredited training, from Initial Teacher Education, through Early Career Teaching and on to National Professional Qualifications. This ensures that our Trust schools, and those that we work with, are equipped to deliver high quality education for all pupils.
