Social interaction

The world's population now exceeds 7 billion people of various nationalities who speak 7,139 different native languages (ITC Translations, 2015). Living in a diverse culture can be a gigantic obstacle due to the various

languages

spoken,

which

can

make

communication and teamwork even more difficult (ITC Translations, 2015; Lim, 2023). This diversity presents challenges for effective communication; however, technology is the path to a bright current society and future that will greatly improve communication in terms of more efficient methods by eliminating language barriers through wireless translation devices. According to Lim (2023), modern technology, such as the Google Translation app, is effectively eliminating language barriers by enabling real-time communication through interpretation. Nearly 75% of users benefit from using these translation tools, with an estimated 500 million people currently utilizing the app. The app is considered a vital tool for overcoming linguistic limitations and fostering connections with people from all over the world (ITC Translations, 2015; Brooks, 2016; Lim, 2023). The elimination of language barriers is now inexpensive and easily accessible, as long as there is a Wi-Fi signal to download the application. Likewise, technological devices and the Internet have apparently changed human interactions in significant ways, while compared to non-computer software applications that have been invented in the last few centuries, the changes in human communication in the present day are primarily done through smartphone devices and the Internet (Wi-Fi), which include both positive and negative outcomes for users (Wardynski, 2019). To put it another way, technological advancements have made mobile devices a crucial tool in maintaining close relationships with loved ones, even when physically distant, at a lower cost.

7

Technology addiction among young children and adolescents has been a global concern, with research linking it to mental health issues and poor overall well-being. According to Dyopath (2019), studies have shown that mobile devices contain chemical substances that can be harmful to children, teens, and adults. These invisible chemical components can lead to long-term harm to the skin and brain. Mobile phones emit electromagnetic (EM) radiation, which can impact the brain and nervous system if placed in close proximity to sleeping areas during bedtime. Studies show that 67% of teenage users continue to use their mobile phones even when their batteries are low or when there is no space to charge them, indicating a potential risk for physical health issues (Dyopath, 2019; Kaushik, 2022)

Moreover, excessive mobile phone use can lead to addiction to social media, and the worst-case scenario is damage to the eye lens due to blue light exposure. Surveys have shown that 45% of teenagers aged 9 to 15 are more susceptible to absorbing toxic blue light through the retina, which can lead to central nervous system-related cancer and may force them to wear glasses in the future (National Cancer Institute, 2019; Kaushik, 2022). Overusing digital devices may have an unavoidable impact on teenagers' lives in terms of a lack of good quality sleep hours and being unable to wake up in the morning or attend class lectures on time, which affects their moods and emotions on a daily basis. Using technology in an excessive and unhealthy manner can lead to poor mental and physical health, increasing anxiety and diminishing social interaction. A USC study discovered that 2,600 adolescents who use smartphones constantly for more than 10 hours a day are more likely to have ADHD symptoms without realizing it because the side effects appear in the form of blurring their minds and ruining their behavior as well (Gray, 2020).

8

Especially, Duke University discovered that the number of people with ADHD who frequently use modern digital media platforms, such as social media, has increased by 43 percent over the past 15 years (Dyopath, 2019). Severe ADHD symptoms are becoming a trend among adolescents due to unhealthy behavior and overuse of technology. Technology can have positive effects such as removing language barriers, saving money on communication, and facilitating online interactions. However, it is important to weigh the pros and cons, as technology can also have negative impacts on mental and physical health.

Cost-cutting opportunities in business The integration of technology in various business operations has had a profound influence on the

manner in which organizations conduct their activities. A particularly notable area where technology has had a positive effect is in terms of financial efficiency. One major way technology helps in this area is through automation, which allows for streamlined processes and reduces the need for human labor, which can lead to significant cost savings (Wired, 2018). Technology has helped improve communication and teamwork in businesses, making it easier for teams to share information and work together, even when they are not in the same location (Forbes, 2019). This can lead to higher productivity and less money spent on travel with the rise of cloud-based tools and collaboration software, as well as the implementation of telecommuting and remote work, which can lead to significant cost savings for businesses. According to a study by Global Workplace Analytics (2020), telecommuting can lead to a reduction in real estate costs, as well as a reduction in absenteeism and turnover.

Technology has become a critical factor in modern society's healthcare industry, boosting service and providing support to patients all over the world like never before. According to the American Medical Association (2020), technology also enables healthcare providers to offer telemedicine services, which allow patients to receive medical care remotely via video conferencing and digital tools; this can be especially useful for patients in rural or remote areas or for those with mobility issues. Modern technology that could support telemedicine can also lead to cost savings of up to 30% (American Medical Association, 2020).

10

To put it another way, technology has greatly impacted the delivery of healthcare, making it more efficient and accessible for patients. One major way technology has helped is through the use of electronic health records (EHRs), which allow for easy access to patient information and can reduce medical errors by up to 85% (Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, 2015). Likewise, Technology has also improved the accuracy and speed of diagnostic testing by using AI and machine learning. Healthcare providers and doctors can use technology such as advanced algorithms to examine medical images and data, leading to more precise and quicker diagnoses. Besides, this technology enables them to examine vast amounts of patient data to better understand the disease, recognize new treatment opportunities, and create new drugs and therapies. (Nature, 2019; Harvard Business Review, 2020).

Technology in healthcare brings benefits such as improved operation equipment with better patient outcomes and accurate efficiency but it also has its downsides, such as decreased critical thinking and decision-making skills among healthcare professionals and an increased risk of errors and misdiagnoses (Khan, 2018; Shah, 2019; Shojania, 2019). In this case, the technology may help to reduce the paperwork because all of the confidential documents have been uploaded directly to the cloud system, creating a loophole where cyberattacks on medical equipment and personal confidential documents of patients can also be accessed and stolen rapidly when the system goes down in a few seconds. To prevent these problems, healthcare organizations must make sure their technology is secure by doing regular updates, training employees, having plans for emergencies, and regularly checking for risks. Studies show that healthcare organizations have more data breaches than other industries, and many have had cybersecurity problems in the past year. (Ponemon Institute, 2019; HIMSS, 2019). According to the Ponemon Institute (2019), the data record found that healthcare organizations experience more data breaches annually than any other industry, with 91% of healthcare organizations reporting a data breach in the past two years (Ponemon Institute, 2019; Nordsvan, 2020).

11

Similarly, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society discovered that 63% of healthcare organizations have experienced a cybersecurity incident with a wide impact on many patients (HIMSS, 2019; Kaminski et al., 2019). Additionally, electronic health records (EHRs) have been linked to burnout among healthcare employees due to increased workload and decreased job satisfaction, This situation indicates a positive outcome that technology supports the healthcare industry, completely enhancing the service and making it much easier. However, healthcare organizations should balance utilizing technology for patient benefit with protecting the well-being of healthcare providers at the same time. Like parallel lines, they should keep both sides in balance to conduct fairness and balance in every aspect (Khan, 2018; Shah, 2019; Shojania, 2019).

Influencing romantic and love lives Technology has greatly improved the ability of individuals in long-distance relationships to

stay close and intimate despite the physical distance. The use of technology in communication helps to overcome the challenges posed by distance, making long-distance relationships more manageable and sustainable (Smith, 2019; American Psychological Association, 2020). In this case, technology helps approximately 82% of individuals maintain long-distance relationships through instant messaging and social media, enabling regular communication and connection (Drouin et al., 2016; American Psychological Association, 2020). Additionally, video conferencing also allows for nonverbal communication, such as facial expressions and body language, which can further strengthen the connection between individuals in long-distance relationships. In this case, video conferencing is beneficial in long-distance relationships, with 77% of individuals reporting that it helped them feel more connected to their partner (Johnson, 2018; American Psychological Association, 2020).

Technology fills in the gaps and help to reduce the telephone costs A case study shows that 60% of Americans think technology has had a mostly positive effect on their love lives because it makes it easier for people to connect and communicate and provides new ways to meet potential partners (Smith, 2019).Technology has provided a significant means of assistance in enhancing romantic connections through the utilization of dating applications and websites. These digital mediums enable individuals to peruse and correspond with prospective partners from the comfort of their domicile and have been demonstrated to be particularly efficacious for those who experience challenges in meeting potential partners in person (Johnson, 2018). In fact, a survey conducted by the online dating site eHarmony, revealed that online dating was the origin of 20% of committed relationships and 17% of marriages in the United States (eHarmony, 2018). Furthermore, technology has also facilitated the ability for individuals to remain connected with their romantic partners, regardless of their physical distance. This is particularly crucial for those in long-distance relationships, as it enables them to sustain a sense of intimacy despite being physically separated (Drouin et al., 2016). For instance, the utilization of video conferencing, instant messaging and social media platforms can aid couples in staying connected and feeling a sense of closeness to one another. 13

Technology has had a mostly positive impact on love lives by providing new ways for people to connect and communicate, as well as facilitating long-distance relationships. However, excessive use of technology such as social media can lead to feelings of jealousy and insecurity in relationships and some people may become overly dependent on technology, making it hard for them to maintain healthy communication and connection in person.Technology has revolutionized the way we connect and communicate, and dating apps and websites have become increasingly popular in recent years. However, while these platforms can be beneficial for some individuals, they also have a number of disadvantages that should be considered. According to Tinder (2020), the University of North Texas conducted a survey and found that dating apps can create a culture where people focus too much on physical appearance and not enough on personality, which leads individuals to feel pressured to present an idealized version of themselves online. This stage can make it harder for people to form real connections. Meanwhile, the main concern about the disadvantage of dating apps is that their users can be addicted and time-consuming easily. As a result, the case study by the University of British Columbia found that individuals who use dating apps tend to spend more time on them and report feeling more addicted to them than those who do not use them, raising the negative result by approximately 43 percent among teenagers who easily get depressed from dating apps, especially this point, which leads to a gigantic impact in the long term by letting individuals neglect other areas of their lives, such as their work, friends, and hobbies (Garcia & Reiber, 2018). Hence, dating apps can lead to disappointment, frustration, and emotional distress. They can also create unrealistic expectations, increase feelings of rejection and make it difficult to form reallife connections. Furthermore, dating apps can also lead to deception and false information when forming relationships, which can end up in disappointment, heartbreak, and mistrust. It's important to be aware of these downsides and use dating apps carefully. 14
