“പണ്ടു പക്ണ്ടൊരു വീട്ിൽ തട്ുാം പുറത്ത് നിരവധി എലിെൾ പ ാം പൊർത്തിരുന്നു. അവർ തങ്ങൾകു െിട്ുന്ന ആഹൊരാം പരസ്ര നൽെി സന്തൊഷന്ത്തൊക്െ അവിക്െ െഴിഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങക്നയിരികുന്പൊഴൊണ് എവിക്െ നിന്ന്നൊ വന്ന ഒരു പൂച്ച ആ വീട്ിൽ തൊമസാം തുെങ്ങിയത്. തട്ുാം പുറത്ത് എലിെക്െ െണ്ട പൂച്ച അവിക്െ സ്ഥിരതൊമസമൊകി. അവൻ രൊത്തിക്യന്ന്നൊ പെക്ലന്ന്നൊ ഇല്ലൊക്ത പമ്മി നെന്നു തന്ക്റ െയ്യിൽ െിട്ുന്ന എലിെക്െക്യല്ലൊാം ഭക്ഷിച്ചു. പൂച്ചയുക്െ ശലയാം െൂെി വന്നന്പൊൾ എലിെക്െല്ലൊാം തട്ുാം പുറത്ത് ഒരു ന്യൊഗാം ന്ചർന്നു. എങ്ങക്ന പൂച്ചയിൽ നിന്നുാം രക്ഷക്പെൊാം എന്നതൊയിരുന്നു ത്പധൊന ചർച്ചൊവിഷയാം. െൂട്ത്തിൽ ഒരു എലി പറഞ്ഞു.
“രൊത്തിക്യന്ന്നൊ പെക്ലന്ന്നൊ ഇല്ലൊക്ത പൂച്ച നമ്മക്െ ന്വട്യൊെുെയൊണ്. അതിക്നൊരു അവസൊനാം ന്വണാം.”
അന്പൊൾ മക്റൊരു എലി പറഞ്ഞു “അക്ത അതു ശരിയൊണ്. പൂച്ച പമ്മി വരുന്നതു െൊരണാം നമുക് ഓെി രക്ഷക്പന്െണ്ട സമയാം ന്പൊലുാം െിട്ുന്നില്ല. അെുക്ത്തത്തി െഴിയുന്പൊൾ ആയിരികുാം പൂച്ചക്യ െൊണുന്നത്. അന്പൊൾ പിക്ന്ന രക്ഷക്പെൊനുാം െഴിയില്ല.” ഇതു ന്െട്തുാം മക്റൊരു എലി പറഞ്ഞു “നമുക് പൂച്ച വരുന്ന ശബ്ദാം ന്െൾകൊൻ പറിയൊൽ നല്ലതൊയിരുന്നു. അന്പൊൾ നമുക് ഓെി ഒെികൊൻ സമയവുാം െിട്ുാം.”
അങ്ങക്ന എലിെെുക്െ ചർച്ച പൂച്ച വരുന്നത് അറിയൊൻ എക്തങ്കിലുാം ഒരു ഉപൊയാം െക്ണ്ടത്തുന്നതിന്ലകൊയി. പലരുാം പല അഭിത്പൊയങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞു. അന്പൊഴൊണ് െൂട്ത്തിൽ ക്ചറിയ ഒരു എലി ഇങ്ങക്ന പറഞ്ഞത്.” ആ അഭിത്പൊയാം എല്ലൊവർകുാം ഇഷ്ടമൊയി. എല്ലൊവരുാം അതിക്ന അനുെൂലിച്ചു. അന്പൊഴൊണ് െൂട്ത്തിക്ല ത്പൊയമൊയ എലി എല്ലൊവന്രൊെുമൊയി ന്ചൊദിച്ചത്” പൂച്ചയ്ക് മണി ക്െട്ുെ എന്നത് വെക്ര നല്ല ആശയാം തക്ന്നയൊണ്. പന്ക്ഷ ആരൊണ് പൂച്ചയ്ക് മണി ക്െട്ൊനൊയി ന്പൊെുന്നത്? അതറിഞ്ഞൊൽ ക്െൊള്ളൊമൊയിരുന്നു.”
