Persona

This is Rosa Delbeke, my grandmother. She is 65 years old and has a limitation on her leg. She drives with an electric scooter and has lots of frustations about the road she has to drive on. The roads in Belguim have lots of wells and reconstructed parts in and around the streets. The gutters are very deep and the roads are not adapted at all to disabled/ less mobile people .
Area
Rosa Delbeke lives in an apartment on the 1st floor with a steep staircase. There are activities outside, where she drives around with her scooter to visit family and she also goes to the store. She often drives by busy streets and she can’t drive on the sidewalk with her scooter because there’s a gutter first and then a high curb. This causes her not to go on the sidewalk. Another more frequent problem is that she has to drive in all weather conditions due to wind and weather, especially the rain is common now. She is cold and wet but she can prevent it by putting on enough clothes. When you wear many layers it can get to hot to go anywhere inside.

Proces
The proces involved cutting the material to the size of the person and her scooter. I did this in to order to have a safe poncho. Its important that it doesn’t spin in her wheels and does not hinder her from driving safely. Many tests were done for this, to know what would keep her hands warm and it’s also important to test how she would see her scooter screen and mirrors. 8

Product

The finished product is sewn all over to ensure a clean product. It has a hood to drain the water so her glasses stay dry. It also has handles to keep her hands warm when she’s driving somewhere on a cold autumn day. It has a bag to transport and attach the poncho easily to her scooter so she always has it with her. There’s a plastic part sewn into the poncho so she can see her screen and holes for the mirrors.

Interior lamp
Fusion
16
In Fusion a 3D program, I drew the pieces for the lamp. The dynamic aspects were 3D printed for a smooth and precise turning movement. The tube to hide the electrical components and the feet to lift the lamp off the ground were also 3D printed. Then I bent the metal wires to make the dynamic aspect move smoothly. The lamp is placed on a platform.

Here you see the 3D printed pieces in its element and in its right places. It functions as a mounting piece and as a platform. I also glued the rotating elements with pieces of filament in it for a better hinge. The lamp is colored in black and the light that’s inside is a Philips hue lamp. That is dimmable, so it doesn’t shine to bright. It casts a shadow on the ceiling and walls when the rings are open.

M.J Arlidge
M.J Arlidge is the persona I choose for this assignment. He fits the style and mood I want to go for in the clock. The architype and style of M.J Arlidge are similar to that of old or very classic writers. This classy vibe can also belong in a more modern house/ study. The perception on my persona is rather in between the soft and the hard side.

This piece is a freeform with two flat sides. The freeform around the two flat sides were made to make the piece less sturdy. By doing this the clock took on a more calm look. To make the face of the clock I used a 3D printed part I drew in Siemens NX. By painting them seperatly and then pasting them together with the hands of the clock it made the piece whole.
