PARISH HEALING SERVICE This Tuesday, June 28 at 7 PM There is always a desire for more in life, especially more healing. Whether it is failed relationship, a resentment, an addiction, a hurt, a physical illness, a sense of shame or guilt, a bad habit or vice, or a moral issue we each need healing from one thing or another. “They brought Jesus all who were ill. The whole town gathered at His door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases.” (Mark 1:32-34) Join Father Jerome and others to pray for healing with readings from Scripture and hymns and with the intimate presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. All are welcome.

FEAST OF BLESSED JUNÍPERO SERRA

FRIDAY JULY 1 ST Blessed Junípero Serra, a missionary from Spain has been described by Pope John Paul II as “an exemplary model of the selfless evangelizer” for his work in bringing our faith to California. We will celebrate his feast day at the 8:30 AM daily Mass on Friday July 1st.

If you would like to have a deeper relationship with God and a better understanding of your faith, then join us for Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible. You will not only benefit personally from being part of this study; you will also help to bring about a profound renewal in our parish as we grow closer to Christ. Our parish will begin Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible on Wednesday, July 13 from 7 – 8:30 PM for 8 weeks. For more information or to sign up, contact Patty at 714842-3000 x25 or [email protected]

What is RCIA and who is it for? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process whereby new members join the Catholic Church, designed specifically for the following: 1. For adults who have never been baptized and who want to inquire about the Catholic faith. 2. For adults who have been baptized into another Christian tradition (Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, etc.) who want to inquire about the Catholic faith. 3. For baptized Catholic adults who have not completed the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation and need more faith formation.

MISSION CO-OP COLLECTION July 9 / 10

Chad Ribordy Executive Director, Lay Mission-Helpers The Mission Co-Op special collection at the Masses on July 910 will benefit the Lay Mission-Helpers Association. Founded in 1955, the Lay Mission-Helpers Association trains, sends and supports lay people (single, married couples, families) to serve in overseas Catholic mission dioceses for a minimum of 3 years. They serve in a professional capacity in areas such as health, education, engineering, etc., and witness their faith by how they live their lives. Chad Ribordy, who will be speaking at all of the Masses for the LMH, served for 12 years with his wife and children in Brazil. Chad is currently LMH’s Executive Director. Thank you for your generosity.

If you fit into any of these categories or have a friend or relative who does, please contact Elsa Lusk at the parish office: 714-842-3000 x12 or send an email to [email protected]. The RCIA process of Becoming Catholic... meets on Wednesday nights from 7 PM to 8 PM in Meeting Room 8. You can enter at any time during the year. All those interested in becoming Catholic must experience a full year in our church community; therefore, it is good to enter the journey as soon as possible. If you are a baptized Catholic and you only need the Sacrament of Confirmation, you may join the Adult Confirmation process which is a short preparation of only six months which begins in the Fall. For more information contact Elsa Lusk at the number above.

Padre Sergio Ramos

We hear the Psalms read or sung at every Mass between the first and second readings, but do we understand their significance? The Psalms are at the heart of the Bible. They are prayers from God that help us learn to pray. The Holy Spirit inspired them. Israel sang them. Christ himself prayed them, as did our Blessed Mother. These sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God’s loving and wondrous deeds for us. Their words captivate the imagination and draw us into a deeply personal encounter with God. Join us for Psalms: The School of Prayer beginning Monday, July 11 from 7 - 9 PM and continuing every Monday for 11 weeks. For more information or to register for the study, call Patty Ledezma at 714-842-3000 x25 or via email: [email protected]
