Believe it or not, art is more influential than people give it credit for. It has been practised for many years, from the Stone Age to our current day. Many personalities arose during the years, with artistic talent far surpassing other people’s. In the past, people painted on the walls deep inside natural caverns. During the stone age, hunting was an important activity for survival - our ancestors drew animals to increase hunting success, enhance the fertility in animals and many more. Art progressed throughout the years, always changing. For example, Medieval Art was much darker and grotesque to reflect the dark period of the Roman Period . Meanwhile, Victorian art is much more romantic, as the art shifted into something more complex and allowed emotional artistic expression. This brings us to our current subject, and to why art and hobbies are so important to the human mind. Emotional artistic expression. Each artist gives a piece of himself to every work, whether they realize it or not. Because our work represents us, as we can see from three famous quotes ; “Art is a line around your thoughts.” - Gustav Klimt “Art is a way of recognizing oneself.” - Louise Bourgeois “The most seductive thing about art is the personality of the artist himself.” - Paul Cézanne Besides pleasing the eye, art impacts our emotions in a way we may not realize. But not only paintings are art; Everything you create is considered art, the story you once wrote is more connected to you than you think. Or statue, song, video - all of those are considered art. And they are hobbies someone can have since a young age, or maybe take it a step further and make it their profession. Hobbies are something, that in my opinion, should be encouraged more in children. Hobbies are important in the development of young minds, they enhance your life and also reduce the risk of depression in later stages of life. By doing something you enjoy, you come to better know yourself. There’s a wide array of hobbies, each with its advantages: cooking, reading, writing, painting I can go on and on! There is so much you can do with your time instead of doing nothing, so many hobbies can open doors in your life! Why not take the chance in experiencing something new, something that can make you happier? Of course, it is challenging to start a new hobby. There are so many basic rules you need to follow, and you need patience, a lot of patience that many people might not have. But in the end, it all pays off, doesn’t it? By the end of the day, you’re a better you.
