A regular meeting of the Sports Committee was held on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Jeff Kozak at 4:00 p.m. in person and on a Zoom meeting at The Lakes Country Club on Old Ranch Road, Palm Desert, California. PRESENT:

Valeria Batross, Director of Lifestyle & Wellness

ALSO PRESENT:

Jim Morris – Board Liaison Ron Phipps –General Manager Donny Felich, Director of Racquet Sports Alisa Ramirez, Director of Membership, Sports Committee Secretary

AMEND/ADOPT AGENDA: “I move to adopt the agenda as written”. Jean Darling MOVED, SECONDED by Megan Reed. MOTION PASSED by unanimous vote. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: “I move to approve the minutes as written. Lee Otsuki MOVED, SECONDED by Megan Reed. MOTION PASSED by unanimous vote. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: Jeff Kozak reported on the following: • Happy New Year to all. • Everything progressing forward with all. • Fitness Challenge seems popular and liked by those attending it. • Thursday Bocce Ball League already has 10 teams for kick off in the next couple of weeks. VISITORS COMMENTS: None GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT • Updated on COVID policies and its effect on events and functions. • All status quo with Lifestyle & Wellness Center. • Racquet Center short staff due to Covid. Donny is solo operations. • New Golf Members Scramble has been rescheduled from January 14 to January 21. • Food and Beverage staff continuing with new hires. Reminder if we have an event there will not be a la carte dinner due to staff shortage. Bingo successful event over 100 in attendance. Noted Board of Directors directive on all events is attendance are voluntary.

FITNESS CENTER REPORT: Ron Phipps reported on behalf of Valeria Batross the following: • Class schedule update and attendance. • January 15 Hike has 23 registered. • 6-week kick off has 26 registered. • Staff update. RACQUET CENTER REPORT: Donny Felich reported on the following: Staff & Facilities • Solo Operations, Staff Update. • Racquet Center activity busy. • New Pickleball machine. Events • February 2 Pickleball Pro sold out. • Lobs, Dinks & Drive postpone to a later date. “I move to postpone the Lobs, Dinks & Drive to a later date. Don Beer MOVED, SECONDED by Brian Watt. MOTION PASSED by unanimous vote. Update • We have ordered a new pickleball machine. UPCOMING EVENTS: • See Donny Felich’s report. OLD BUSINESS: • Bocce Ball League – Lee Otsuki reviewed the information for the league. 10 teams, 90 members, two sessions, now third session, new lights, scorecards, kick of event January 27 and captains forming teams. OTHER REPORTS: Committee Members Reported on their areas. • Pop Tennis lighting is a work in progress. Gate install status is open for discussion. • All courts busy even the clay courts. • Thanks to Donny for the clinics. Great feedback and a fantastic time. • A few ideas of a Challenge Day are a work in progress. • Both rowing machines are status quo.

housekeeping and maintenance schedule that management is recommending that the opening hour remain at 6 am. Pickleball Levels of Play - Donny discussed this topic in general.
