TM Sona Naseem 2 Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C ‘If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write’ – Martin Luther This newsletter was challenging. Definitely because of FIFA festive moods along with my excitement for FIFA at its fullest. I was in despair that FIFA is finally over but realized the fact that nothing is permanent in life. So, we need to learn to just enjoy our present. Be grateful for each and every minute of your life and do not take things for granted. Like now I am thankful that I can write, I can think. I am in deep gratitude for the power of writing. Thank You Toastmasters International for my second opportunity for this newsletter where I can showcase my talents, develop my skills and truly judge myself on where I stand for my literary works. I wholeheartedly thank ex VPPR Shadiya Shareef for the spark of ideas for this newsletter. Thank you editorial team for making my work easy for this newsletter. Thank You ‘FIFA volunteers’ of FCC Vanita Toastmasters Club who have made FIFA and this newsletter a true success through their creative contributions. Happy Reading. Message From President TM Nijana PP 6 Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C "Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you" I am happy that we are going to release our 2nd newsletter of this term with a FIFA theme. It’s an apt theme as we celebrate the FIFA World Cup. All compliments to our vibrant VPPR Sona Naseem. She won the district PR awards Golden lens and meme mirth for the months September and October and Golden lens for the month of November. We are also proud of Ameena Raseen who secured 2nd place in Qatar Talks 2022 in humorous speech category. Distinguished Toastmaster was awarded to Siby P Joseph and Bindu Unnikrishnan, the highest educational award for an individual by Toastmasters International. It is a proud moment for our club. FCC Vanitha Toastmasters club got Swift 5 Club award 2022-2023. Kudos to our Club members. You are the backbone of our Club. We FCC VTM members also created a video in support of FIFA world cup Qatar. I am so happy that I came under the 20000 volunteers that FIFA selected out of 50000, out of 420000 applicants. Thank God I am in. From attending interviews, getting role offers, attending training and then shifts during FIFA world cup it’s like a dream come true. Have known about FIFA volunteering long back through my collegemate who himself was a volunteer. But never went deep as to know what the procedures were, thinking it’s not for me or rather I won’t be able to get. And there comes the Qatar world cup 2022, I applied and got in. A proud volunteer. I got a role as a FIFA Fan Festival volunteer. Fans from all around the world come there. There according to shift was deployed in my duties like queue monitoring, tying wrist band for children, lost children section, accessibility volunteer etc. All were different experiences and lifetime memories too, meeting different people both from here and international volunteers. Got a chance to be a part of the national day parade and when it was dropped, I was a bit disappointed. And then came a volunteer celebration. All 20000 volunteers were called to celebrate. Being a fan festival volunteers have seen many famous artists like Sean Paul, Amir Kamel, Calvin Harris performs on the stage. We were keen to be there but knew there was no chance for that. Thanks to our managers who gave us a chance to perform on the stage dancing to the song 'We are the dreamers'. Our team was at high end and finally got the green signal i.e., the green wrist band. We performed in front of 26000 people and nothing more could have asked for. And last but not the least I got an appreciation certificate duly signed by Qatar Amir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Thank you, Qatar, for an incredible world cup and to my family for their support. Where Leaders Are Made

Sabeena Abdul Jaleel Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C Volunteering services is something that has been in me right from childhood. The SUPW (Socially useful productive work) classes during good old school days, the motive to get the maximum marks in SUPW notebook could be one of the reasons for developing this interest in volunteer services, whatever it is I always loved to go beyond my capacity to help and reach out people in need . I was part of NSS activity In college and is part of friends cultural centre (community development centre under Qatar Charity) for past 12 years . Becoming a part of toastmasters’ fraternity in Qatar for the past 7 years has only increased my voluntary services. I somehow missed volunteering for Arab Cup, and I wished wholeheartedly to be a volunteer for FIFA 2022. Volunteering for my second home's biggest event was my way of giving back to the country, that’s been my home and my everything for past two decades. God has been graceful, and I was selected to be part of the ticketing team at Hamad international airport and feel privileged to be one among those 20k FIFA volunteers. The journey was beautiful filled with lot of great experiences and I feel proud to have successfully completed all my shifts and all the tasks assigned to me. It was overwhelming with my regular job schedule, home commitments, volunteering and on top it’s festive season in Doha. We can’t stay at home relaxing, or we will miss the vibes. Lack of sleep and rest has taken a toll over my health, but all was managed well with almighty’s grace ❤️ The one who added colour to my volunteering journey was my dear friend Abida Subair who was with me throughout since role allotment. It was a blessing that we were both in ticketing and that too in Hamad International Airport. We booked shifts, and all other volunteer events together and really had a wonderful time doing our tasks together. Her timely reminders for every schedule, regarding emails from FIFA, regular pickup and dropping back home were my greatest blessings ❤️. My heart fills with gratitude when I recollect those days. 8 Sabeena Abdul Jaleel Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C Where Leaders Are Made This wonderful networking opportunity bringing in all of us together had so many new learnings to offer in the process and FIFA2022 will always remain close to my heart. The best thing is that the ticketing app was too good that it hardly had any bugs. We never had huge lined up queues of Fans to sort out ticketing issues except the initial week. Later we were welcoming and supporting the fans by guiding them with the directions, Metro – take the elevator, uber – go straight and take a right, car parking go left, Masjid this way etc… it was real fun. Talking to perplexed fans across the globe on arrival, making them feel at ease and guiding them was the major chunk of our task. I enjoyed doing this as I love meeting and greeting people. We do not remember days, we remember moments and FIFA volunteering has provided us tons of memorable moments to cherish forever. My family has been so supportive, especially my in-laws, in letting me do what I love by sacrificing family time together. My colleagues and supervisors at my workplace (Work force and training development, PHCC) were always there to support in my work schedules and easing out my work loads. Also we had formed a ladies volunteer group for ease of information sharing which was another source of great support and motivation. Above all the ticketing team at HIA was too good, it was wonderful meeting volunteers from multiple nations, knowing each other and doing our duties as one great team. "Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless" -Sherry Anderson

Sabeena Abdul Jaleel Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C Where Leaders Are Made Getting to meet people from across the globe working towards one goal. Work where you wished you had overtime. Getting along side by side to deliver amazing FIFA World Cup 2022. It was the best event I attended. And being part of the volunteer team was a lifetime achievement. I was privileged to be a part of Pioneer volunteer who recruited 20,000 volunteers. When I went for the Amir Cup at Thumama Stadium in 2020, I looked at the volunteers and wished to be one. Little did I know I would be part of the workforce team at WC 2022 at the very same stadium. I went empty handed but returned with countless memories and friends. Friends that became family. The pitches echoed our little dreams. Fans roared for our efforts. The players brought colors to our lives. How beautiful it is that the whole world comes together for the ball. Together whether being a woman doesn’t deny you anything. Qatar, I miss you. I miss the jolly metro rides. I miss the long queues filled with entertainment. I miss the walking which I thought I could never do. I miss the buffet during our shifts. I miss seeing the excited fans entering the stadium. All those mixed emotions taught me how amazing a human can be. But Qatar, I’m sure this is just a beginning. You are going to amaze us with more wonderful memories. 10 Sabeena Abdul Jaleel Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C TM Shadiya Shareef Where Leaders Are Made Volunteering is a selfless act that involves giving up one's time and energy to help others without expecting any monetary reward in return. It is a way to give back to the country and make a positive impact on the lives of others. It was with lots of hope that we all welcomed world cup 2022. Myself was happy to be a part of one of the 20,000 volunteers in the prestigious event. My duty was to assist the people who had problems with their hayya card. Just before the match very few had problems, but those few were in a dilemma whether they can watch the match as they were not allowed to enter the stadium without the hayya card. With utmost patience and calmness we need to assist them. The moment when the problem is solved there was a happy smile on the person. That moment was the beauty of volunteering. Being in Qatar for almost 15 years instilled a proud feeling being a volunteer. A chance to serve selflessly to a nation that always stood with truth and justice.. This volunteering gave me the oppurtunity to meet new people, learn new things and to be a part of history, a legacy... I was most happy when i received the certificate signed by his higness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Our team leader Ms. Moza - a wonderful personality who played the role of team player effortlessly.Had a wonderful time with my friends Mufeeda and Asma who were there all along the volunteering journey. Lambency "Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart" -Elizabeth Andrew

Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C TM Muneera Abdulla Where Leaders Are Made I never watched any football match for the full 90 minutes before this FIFA World cup 2022. Therefore, I was not interested in buying a match ticket, but I was so excited when I got selected as a volunteer. But when the match was about to start, many questions came to mind, like how would I drive to stadiums in the heavy traffic, and how safe it would be if I take a metro when I finish my volunteer duty at 1 in the midnight as there won’t be any dedicated compartments for families during the World Cup. On top of this, we have heard about the hooligans and trouble making fans from some countries who had created problems during the past FIFA World Cups. Surprisingly enough, all these worries vanished on the first day of my volunteering shift itself. As you all know, we slowly came to realize that these were going to be the most memorable and beautiful days of our lives. We started enjoying the long walk to the metro station and to the stadiums with the metro man’s slogan “metro … this way” and we waited to hear the metro man at the destination chant “finally… finally …finally you are at the metro station.” Now I have some thoughts to share with you: When I called my friend yesterday, she said “my husband and son went to Payyambalam beach to watch the match on big screen’’ …. “What about you and your daughter?” ….. “We watched on our TV.” Here in Qatar, as my three daughters were showing me their video jumping up and down with their friends in the middle of the crowd after the Match at 12 midnight, I was thinking of my homeland. On the metro I never had to stand up…. whenever I step into the metro, someone would get up and offer me his seat. Remembering the struggle, I had to face in my college days to find a safe place in crowded vehicles, I told my daughter happily about the respect people around the world is giving ladies, the new generation didn’t seem to like it “why do they offer you a seat? why do ladies need priority?” Do Ladies Need Priority? "The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention" -Oscar Wilde

Sabeena Abdul Jaleel Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C TM Fathima Afrina Where Leaders Are Made The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sports event on Earth that takes place every four years. And I was taking part in organizing such a huge event in such a special edition was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that anyone would wish to be part of. It’s like watching them on TV and finally experiencing in real . The World Cup is an opportunity for people from all different parts of the world to come together and meet in one place for a mutual purpose: to cheer and celebrate. Through this opportunity, I have met some amazing people who want to serve the country that they love, connect with interesting people and participate in the thriving sports volunteer culture that permeates Qatar. It was a great energetic atmosphere while volunteering. There was many games , activities and gifts for volunteers to cheerup. Working with other volunteers was another experience . The dedication and passion they showed made me more energetic in my volunteer journey. The whole atmosphere is fun and enthusiastic. There are different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds people in the World Cup .And the more emphasizing thing is the communal celebration of football and sportsmanship despite differences in language and beliefs. And that is Qatar World Cup 2022 for everyone❤️. Thank You Qatar "Only a life lived for others is worth living" -Albert Einstein

Sabeena Abdul Jaleel Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C TM Anu Pumalkumar Where Leaders Are Made On December 2,2010 FIFA announced that Qatar will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, bringing the world’s most prestigious tournament to the middle east for the first time in history. Thus Qatar became the the first arab state to host FIFA World Cup 2022. The country’s world cup debut was 12 years in the making including rapid progress in building stadiums, metro system, road expansions and other infrastructures. Supreme Committee for delivery and legacy and FIFA had successfully delivered the most compact FIFA World Cup in history. Qatar hosted 64 matches, 32 teams and 1.4 million fans from across the globe in 29 days by providing a vast range of accessibility features, completely free mobility assistance services, Hayya , the digital gateway and the journey planner and all other facilities to ensure the safety and comfort for all. It was indeed a tournament for all by ensuring that the tournament is accessible for disabled people and people with limited mobility. Sensory rooms were provided in need to the visually impaired people enjoying the worldcup. As host nation, through this world cup Qatar could able to showcase its culture, history, identity and hospitality. Apart from the entertainment activities in the vicinity of eight stadiums fans were enthusiastic to attend all entertainment events including the FIFA fan festival, corniche entertainment activities, katara cultural activities and many others. At the same time enjoying high quality sporting facilities, parks, public places, transport links, shopping centers and places of worship. Me and my family were so privileged to become a part of this historic mega event as my husband is working as a facility engineer at Supreme Committee for delivery and legacy since 2019 and he was a part of the volunteer team in FIFA world cup. My daughter was selected as one of the flag bearers for the semifinal match and she was able to see her favorite players close by. That was indeed a proud moment for all of us and of course a life time memory in her life. All teams and all players are so close to us and even my 4 year old learned to sing all FIFA songs and nowadays laeeb is her favorite friend. The impact of the world cup is unbelievable. From a 3 year old to a 70-year-old were thoroughly enjoying world cup at its best.Thatswhy we can say FIFA world cup 2022 Qatar was a family-friendly world cup. Even though it came to an end but the memories and moments live on… Proud of you Qatar..Our second home…Thank you for giving us such an incredible experience.. 17 Where Leaders Are Made Vanitha F C C Life is all about surprises Alhamdulillah From a very young age I was always into arts but never in my dreams I believed I would turn out to be a speaker. It all started from just attending a toastmaster meeting , that was a point where I realized my capabilities and strengths. Through constant support , guidance, mentoring and most importantly the evaluation from toastmaster’s made me a champion. Qtalks was a stage of miracle for me , the moment I heard about it ,I always wanted to take part and finally this year it happened but there was a point when I thought I could not make it and planned to drop the golden opportunity I got. But it was the support and believe from my fellow toastmasters which made the impossible possible Definitely it was my FCC family who reminded and helped me for winning that trophy Forever grateful for all the support and believe me my fellow sisters If I can do this , definitely each one of you can do this , many of you have proved that already TMAmeenaRaseen Q T A L K S ACHIEVEMENT Where Leaders Are Made
