HSCI Curriculum Undergoes Assessment By Vian Alexander Villa Hua Siong College of Iloilo displayed sincerity toward offering quality education to the Red Phoenixes by assessing its own curriculum through Global Resources for Assessment Curriculum and Evaluation (GRACE) last September 22, 2022. Learners from grades 1-12 underwent a computer-based assessment specifically called Performance Assessment of Standards and Skills (PASS) where they had to take examinations on the three core subjects: Science, Mathematics, and English. The said assessment is geared toward evaluating the mastery of the learners when it comes to the content they have learned during their stay in Hua Siong in relation to the predetermined standards by the Department of Education (DepEd). More importantly, the GRACE assessment was also set to inform the School and its educators of the improvements to be implemented and achieved to ensure that the lessons are well acquired by the learners.

1 SEPTEMBER 2022 ISSUE

Before the actual conduct of the examination, teachers attended training on how to conduct the assessment and what should be done if ever there are concerns. Following that is the mock test last September 21, 2022, where learners were oriented on the procedures to take the examination and were given the chance to try taking the exam in order to let them be familiar with the things they are expected to do and see on the actual test.

GRACE Assessment to Hua Siong learners was done in partnership with the Phoenix Publishing House whom the School has been working with for many years now.

The seniors, on the other hand, received constructive criticism regarding their proposal. It also provided them with a new learning experience in conducting research, as well as an opportunity to expand their skills and confidence in presenting and defending their study. Altogether, the first face-to-face title defense for learners enrolled in Hyblend modality in two years and the online title defense was a huge success. 18 out of 18 research titles from the Main Campus and 18 out of 18 from the Ledesco Campus got approved.
