3DSE PROGRAM

STORY OF THE MONTH

END OF YEAR STATS

Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday has been a global event of generosity since 2012! Every year on November 29th, millions of people pitch in to help the community. If you would like to participate in a donation to The H.U.B, please go to our website and hit the "donate" button located at the bottom off the page!

3D Printing Program The HUB strongly encourages and supports community employment, but for many individuals with autism, cognitive delays, communication impairments, or extreme sensitivity to common, unavoidable stimuli, the sights, sounds, crowds, and distractions in typical workplaces are distressing and overwhelming. Self-employment allows you to work at your own pace, or projects and activities that you enjoy, performed in an environment of your choosing, without distractions. Because of all these advantages, we have designed our very own program to prepare for self-employment using 3D Printing. Our 3D Printing Self-Employment Program (3DSE) provides countless opportunities and growth for everyone!

Meet Jennifer A SUCSESS STORY FROM OUR 3DSE CLAS SES !

As one of our first 3DSE students, graduating in March 2021, Jennifer was really successful during the program! She really developed a passion for 3D printing. She started by printing garden stakes to sell at the annual Logan County Board of DD Flower Sale. Jennifer expressed great concern about interacting with the crowd as it required her to approach the cars as they pulled up to get their pre-ordered flowers. Jennifer almost allowed her anxiety to get the best of her and back out due to her fear of approaching customers, but the amazing team at RTC and LCBDD, including her SSA Tracy Horney and Abby Miller, along with Job coach Hanna, gave her the support she needed. By noon, Jennifer had sold out of every item she made and generated almost $200.00! After she graduated, she knew she wanted to continue printing and selling her items. Since then, she has continued to grow her small business and now has her items for sale in a local stores!

End of year statistics

It's been a crazy year! Within the season we have done innumerable tours, special speaking events and community engagement outings. Along with completing 282 individual karting classes, 9 group events, we have had 8 individuals complete our six week 3DSE course, 4 University of Dayton Capstone projects, and 3 STEM projects with Marysville Schools!

Heard the news?

The H.U.B has been mentioned in a few articles this year. Check it out! Past International President Jerry Thomas, left, of Columbus, Ohio Council 1, presents a $1,500 donation from the Ohio-Pennsylvania Region to Rocky Grimes, founder of Heart of Unlimited Boundaries (HUB). HUB is a non-profit organization in West Liberty, Ohio, dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through therapeutic recreational and educational activities. It is a special project of the OhioPennsylvania Region and its local councils and members, who have raised thousands of dollars for the organization. A challenge was issued at the OhioPennsylvania convention to raise funds for HUB, and it worked!

2022 Donner Appreciation

In 2019 The American Honda Motor Company Inc became involved with The HUB after getting a chance to interact during a Marysville Stem Project. Since then, Honda volunteers have completed many events with us including clearing trails and engineering projects. In 2021, The American Honda Motor Company Inc. awarded The HUB a grant to purchase a Honda 700, 4 seat Pioneer! The new machine is an amazing addition to our fleet allowing us to take friends and family along for the ride! In 2022, The HUB received another significant grant which enabled us to purchase a new Critical Needs cart and cover a large portion of our operating costs! We are truly blessed to have Honda as a sponsor and thankful they recognize the value of our program and the joy it brings to the community.

Donner Appreciation

Beginning in 2013 Impact60 has been a huge supporter of The HUB! Impact60’s initial investment gave The HUB its driving force needed to get off the ground. Thanks to their support in 2017, the program received its first industrial grade machine, the 1,000cc Honda Pioneer. This vehicle has served its time with us through rain, mud, and snow and allowed for many miles of smiles (950 miles to be exact!) for our participants with nothing stopping its path. In 2021, Impact60 contributed to this year's new vehicle- a 700cc, 4 seat Honda Pioneer! This was a phenomenal addition to our fleet as it allows for more passengers to ride along during classes. Giving friends, family, and loved ones the chance to see first hand the participants ability to focus and control a large machine! Impact60 has been a major contributor to the community, and has provided funding for many Marysville Early College Highschool projects, working with The HUB to inspire young adults to think and create new ways to assist others in adaptive technology.

How it works? 100% of all donations received go directly to our community beneficiaries to assist their initiatives to strengthen the counties in which they serve. Stop in and support The HUB and enjoy a good cup of coffee!

Caffeine and Gasoline Richwood Bank held a grand opening last year for their new Bellefontaine Ohio location. Inside the building many different charities were set up to show the public what they do, as a way to get the community involved. As the event carried on people could walk around and vote on a charity that would win $500. We blew the competition out of the water with online and in-person votes! It was a great experience talking to new people and making connections for the business, and of course coffee!

UCT is a quarterly supporter of The HUB. Their contributions to the program has allowed us to expand the number of students we can provide for each season! We have been happy to provide tours to the UCT group, as multiple chapters have generously donated to our program. We’ve been featured in their newsletter as well in an article explaining what our driving program does for our participants. For many years The HUB has had the honor of being UCT’s spokesman for their annual meeting. We hope to see everyone next year for another amazing karting season!
