Dear Parishioners,

Monday is Labor Day. We have begun the month of September. Students are beginning school, the fiscal year starts anew and we are getting ready for the pace of the fall season. The celebration of Labor Day is a timely event because it calls to mind the fact that labor is a gift that gives us dignity. We need to rest and we need to work. It is in working that we employ our creativity. Just as we hear in Genesis that God made the world and then took time to say that it is good, so must we be like God by using our abilities in work and then taking time to give God praise for the good that he enables us to do. With this in mind, I want to express my thanks to Sr. Patricia Reills for all the work she has done in Our Lady of Fatima over the years. She indeed gave herself in a labor of love. We can give thanks for all sisters of religious orders like her who give their lives in service of Christ in his church. It is a witness to us and particularly to women of the importance of vocations in the church. Those who answer positively to the call of dedicating their lives as part of a religious community are witness that God is sending his workers into the vineyard. Women can be holy brides of the Lord who receive many blessings more numerous than they can count from Christ, the bridegroom. We thank Sr. Pat for the blessing she has been to Our Lady of Fatima and pray that she may find an abundance of God’s graces in the new work that she will doing in service of the Lord. Rev. Queridos Feligreses: El lunes es el Día del Trabajo. Hemos comenzado el mes de Septiembre. Los estudiantes están comenzando la escuela, el año fiscal comienza de nuevo y nos preparamos para el ritmo de la temporada de otoño. La celebración del Día del Trabajo es un evento oportuno porque nos trae a la mente y nos recuerda el hecho de que el trabajo es un regalo que nos da dignidad. Necesitamos descansar y necesitamos trabajar. Es en el trabajo que empleamos nuestra creatividad. Al igual que escuchamos en Génesis que Dios hizo el mundo y luego tomó tiempo para decir que es bueno, debemos ser como Dios al usar nuestras habilidades en el trabajo y después tomar el tiempo para dar alabanza a Dios por el bien que nos permite hacer. Con esto en mente, quiero expresar mi agradecimiento a la Hermana Patricia Reills por todo el trabajo que ella ha hecho en nuestra parroquia en estos últimos años. Ella de hecho se entregó en una obra de amor. Podemos dar gracias por todas las hermanas de las órdenes religiosas, como ella, que da su vida en el servicio de Cristo en su iglesia. Es un testimonio para nosotros y en especial para a las mujeres de la importancia de las vocaciones en la Iglesia. Los que responden positivamente a la llamada de dedicar su vida como parte de una comunidad religiosa son testimonio de que Dios está enviando a sus trabajadores a la viña. Las mujeres pueden ser novias de nuestro Señor que reciben muchas bendiciones más numerosos que los que pueden contar a partir de Cristo, el novio. Agradecemos a la Hermana Pat por la bendición que ella ha sido para la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Fátima y rogamos que encuentre en abundancia las gracias de Dios en su nuevo trabajo que ella va a hacer para servir al Señor.
