On this edition, we present the work being carried out by the famous PSG (Paris SaintGerman), champion of France in several times and Atlético Nacional from Colombia, one of the strongest teams in Latin America. On the other side of soccer, we visited FBS-FC and its soccer beach work. We also have an exclusive interview with the Miami United player, Julio César “Rambo” de León, who is developing an intense job by helping young people to stay away from drugs. iami FC y Fort Lauderdale Strickers perdieron la posibilidad de entrar a la post temporada debido a los resultados adversos frente al Cosmos (0-4) y al Rayo OKC (0-2) el pasado sábado 22 de Octubre. Los resultados que obtengan los de Miami el viernes 28 frente a Edmonton, o los que obtenga Strickers el sábado 29 frente a Ottawa, serán insuficientes. Los de Miami, dirigidos por Nesta, han luchado hasta el último aliento en esta su primera temporada regular, quedando al borde de la clasificación. Sin embargo, esta primera temporada ha servido para empezar

a configurar un estilo de juego, una armonía y compenetración entre jugadores, cuerpo técnico y afición de Miami. En el caso de Strickers, es primera vez en los últimos años que el equipo de Fort Lauderdale se queda afuera de los playoffs. La NASL vio esta temporada como los equipos Cosmos de New York, Indy Eleven de Indianápolis y el canadiense Edmonton mantuvieron un desempeño onsistente, delanteras goleadoras y sólidas defensas. Esperamos que la nueva temporada sea una nueva oportunidad para los equipos que nos representan en el sur de la Florida. Adelante Miami FC! Arriba Strickers!!!

T

he Colombian soccer now has its representative in South Florida. Fernando García, President of Atlético Nacional USA, states the team is training hard and has big goals for the future. In a short time, they have succeeded in getting many young people to become part of the club and embrace its values and playing style. The club is the official Academy of the Altético Nacional in Miami. How did you come up with the idea? The Colombian team interviewed us five years ago. They realized that we were ready to be the official club of Atlético Nacional in Miami. What is the club’s vision? Educating through sport, our work is based on values. We encourage young people to have good nutrition. We also encourage them to love the team. What are the club’s goals for the next tournaments? We want to be part of The Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA), we are in the first stage of the process in this moment. We are thinking big for the future.

El soccer colombiano ya tiene su representante en el Sur de la Florida. Fernando García, presidente del equipo Atletico Nacional de Colombia en USA asegura que el equipo está entrenando fuerte y con grandes metas a futuro. En poco tiempo han logrado que muchos jóvenes formen parte de su club y que adopten sus valores y su estilo de juego.

How old do children have to be in order to start with soccer? We accept children from the age of 3 and a half to 16. We also have a U-20 team and an adult team which represent us in South Florida. Do you work with the children on nutrition? Yes, in fact, we ask them to bring a fruit because it is important to eat a fruit after a training session. What does the club offer to the children’s families? They see something very different in this club: we emphasize the importance of school. When a child is not doing very well, we help him improve his school performance; and we have achieved it. What kind of level do the coaches have? All of them are professional coaches. Will the club have a tournament in Miami? Yes, the tournament will take place from December 4 to 8, several teams from different countries will participate in the tournament.

Goals on the Beach Beach soccer keeps growing in South Florida

un, sea, sand and goals: there is no better setting for playing soccer. Beach soccer is a variant of soccer played on a beach or some form of sand. Beach soccer started in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and now it is an international sport that has taken hold in South Florida. Soccerplus was with Óscar Gil of FBS-FC, who expressed the following ideas:

How many players does the Beach Soccer Club have? The club serves around 175 children between ages 8 to 15. How do players prepare physically for beach soccer? Physical training takes at least 20 minutes. We also focus on technical training because it is crucial for the game of soccer. What skills does a child who plays beach soccer develop? The player mostly learns to run in the sand, ball control and the physical and technical aspects of the game.

Does the club hold any Beach Soccer tournament? Yes, our club holds an international tournament in Fort Lauderdale to which we invite several of the surrounding clubs. As the regional Beach Soccer qualifiers draw near, how do you think the U.S. National team stands? The federation is currently being restructured and is bringing in many players. We have four players from South Florida and some other players from Virginia, Washington, California, and different areas as part of the same process of restructuring. I think we are doing very well and these changes are putting us on the track to reach our goal.

El soccer de playa comenzó en Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, y ahora es un deporte internacional que se ha consolidado en el Sur de la Florida. Soccerplus estuvo con Óscar Gil del FBS-FC y recogió estas ideas:

» ¿Cómo se preparan físicamente los jugadores para el Beach Soccer? El entrenamiento físico, como mínimo, dura 20 minutos. Pero nos enfocamos en desarrollar la técnica porque es importante para el juego del soccer.

» ¿Qué habilidades desarrolla un chico que practica Beach soccer? Principalmente el joven aprende a correr en la arena, dominar el balón, desarrollar la parte física y la técnica del juego.

he PSG team arrived in Miami a season ago, and since then the team has been well received by teenagers and their parents, because it is one of the best teams in Europe. The club is the official Academy of the Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG) in Florida providing the genuine and innovative PSG Programs designed for the top players of the world. PSG has a very good structure as far as training and shaping kids starting on U7 up to U19. Julian Pedraza, the PSG Academy Director, assures that they follow a special program in the trainings created by PSG in

Paris for their Academies outside of France. (Los Angeles, Canada, and Miami). They also send evaluations of the kids from time to time. Vision The team’s style of playing is keeping possession of the ball and building their game from the back, characteristics that are very proper of the PSG. Pedraza says, “We are an Academy that is just starting, but we have around 300 kids already registered; we receive kids of different ages, including players who are not easy to correct due to their ages, because they were shaped and trained in other place.

But we try to do our best with all categories. The best ages to start are U6 and U7. Qualities Passion is the key that must be preserved in soccer. The PSG Academy´s Director says, “Nowadays there are three aspects you must analyze about a player: the physical, mental, tactical and technical areas. All of these are relevant, but the most important of all, is the desire to learn. There are small children that are developing their coordination and that might not learn as easily as others, but this doesn’t eliminate the chance they might also become good soccer players”.

Experience Julian Pedraza started his career playing in the Millionarios reserve team in Bogota and in Once de Caldas in Colombia. Then he had the opportunity to travel to play in Europe. During the 20 years that he lived in Europe, he went from being a player to becoming a coach. He has the UEFA A Diploma, one of the highest level diplomas in the UEFA zone. “In Europe, I learned a different soccer culture. In Latin America, soccer is more technical and paused, and in Europe it is a faster, more direct and efficient kind of game. I had the opportunity of

The Miami PSG went last year to Paris to participate in the U10, U11 and U12 categories, and are already getting prepared for the next opportunity!

Hace una temporada que el equipo PSG aterrizó en Miami, y el equipo ha sido muy bien recibido por los jóvenes y sus padres debido es uno de los mejores equipos de Europa. El club es la Academia oficial del Paris Saint-German FC (PSG) en la Florida, brindando programas genuinos e inovativos diseñados para los mejores jugadores del mundo. PSG tiene muy buena estructura a nivel de formación, trabajan con chicos desde U7 a U19. Julián Pedraza, el director de la Academia PSG, asegura que siguen un programa especial en los entrenamientos creado por PSG de París para sus Academias fuera de Francia. (Los Ángeles, Canadá y Miami) Y, además envían evaluaciones de los chicos cada cierto tiempo. » Visión El estilo de juego que tiene el equipo es la conservación del balón, la construcción desde atrás, características propias del PSG de París, dice Pedraza. “Somos una Academia que está empezando pero ya tenemos alrededor de 300 chicos inscritos, recibimos diferentes

Europa. Y durante los 20 años que vivió en Europa pasó de jugador a entrenador de soccer. Tiene el diploma UEFA A es uno de diplomas más altos que hay en la parte de la UEFA. “En Europa aprendí otra cultura de soccer. En Latinoamérica el futbol es técnico pausado y en Europa es un juego más rápido, directo y eficaz. Tuve la oportunidad de estudiar en Bélgica, uno de los países donde mejor se enseña la formación. Estudié durante 4 años, allá no se obtiene en una semana, estudiamos diferentes temas que abarcan la parte práctica y teórica. » Torneo en París Cada año en el mes de Mayo, todas las academias de PSG en diferentes países como Marruecos, Brasil, Canadá, India, Estados Unidos, se reúnen en París para jugar el torneo: Paris San German. El PSG de Miami viajó el año pasado a París para participar en las categorías U10, U11, U12 y ¡ya se preparan para la próxima oportunidad!

El vicepresidente de la Peña, Ramón Aranguen, es un apasionado por el equipo y tiene grandes expectactivas de que este año su equipo gane la duodécima Copa de la liga española. ¿Por qué una Peña del Real Madrid en Miami? Además de seguir los partidos del Real Madrid, ¿qué otras actividades desarrollan? Desarrollamos partidos de soccer con algunos de nuestros integrantes. Algunas veces con el equipo de ESPN y con otras peñas locales del Sur de la Florida.

¿Cómo ve el soccer en Estados Unidos? Se ha desarrollando en los últimos tiempos gracias a los mundiales. Los equipos locales también han crecido, por la incorporación de programas de soccer y las transmisiones de los partidos. ¿Qué familias integran la peña? Somos familias de varias nacionalidades: venezolanos, colombianos, peruanos, cubanos centroamericanos y algunos norteamericanos. ¿Cómo se integra una familia a la Peña? Se pueden registrar en la pagina web de la peña, seguirnos en Facebook o twiter. Hay un costo por la membresía, con la que recibes regalos de bienvenida en el Real Café y Mad About. ¿Cómo ve al Real Madrid esta temporada 2016? Comenzamos muy bien con respecto a la temporada pasada. Tenemos la esperanza en que todo va a salir bien.. vamos por la duodécima Copa de la liga!

Rambo de León is a member of the organization “Athletes of Christ”, as well as Kaká (Brazil) y Falcao (Colombia).

H

e grew up running around the streets, stealing coconuts and playing with the kids in Puerto Cortes, his hometown. Now, Julio César de León, also known as Rambo, is an experienced and talented player who has proven to be an asset in México, China, Italy, Uruguay, Honduras and currently in USA, at the Miami United Team of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). And beyond that, his most important job is talking to young people and kids about how to stay away from drugs and bad habits.

What was it like for you when you joined Miami United? The team was not doing very well when I arrived, but we were able to turn the situation around. Last season, we proved we are a tough team to play and we always go out to try to win. What has your experience been like at Miami United? We are a family. There are wonderful people in the team, the president Roberto Sacca and Carlos Oliva. Honestly, it is a great team with a spectacular technical staff.

What is the key to success in soccer? For me, first of all, believing in Jesus, I am a person of faith. Humbleness is also very important, sacrifice and perseverance in every training. Who inspired you to play soccer? My father was a great defender in Honduras, I inherited from him the courage to play. My uncle, Pablo de León, was the one who stood out the most in soccer, I inherited his playing style.

What was your World Cup experience like? It was great, it is every player’s dream. For me, the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games were a greater experience. What kind of work do you do with kids and young people? I visit many cities to talk to young people about soccer and the importance of discipline. I also emphasize that a player who stays away from drugs and bad habits can ensure a high performance life for years. I focus on the spiritual aspect because it is the key to success.

You played in Italy for many years, what memories do you have? Italy touched my heart. I could tell many wonderful stories about Italy but also many painful ones because I experienced racism over there. I spent my entire career there, I am well-known in Italy and there are people who remember me fondly. God willing, I am planning to return to Italy to study a professional coaching course in order to manage a team in Italy.

Sinceramente es un gran equipo que tiene un cuerpo técnico espectacular. » ¿Cuál es la clave de tu éxito en el soccer? Lo primero para mí es creer en Jesucristo; soy alguien que tiene mucha fe. La humildad también es importante, el sacrificio y la perseverancia en cada entrenamiento.

» ¿Quién influyó en tu vida para jugar soccer? Mi papá fue un gran defensor en Honduras, de él heredé su coraje al jugar. Mi tío Pablo de León, fue quien más destacó en el soccer, y de él heredé su personalidad en el juego.

» Por muchos años jugaste en Italia, ¿qué recuerdas? Italia me tocó el corazón. De Italia podría contar experiencias maravillosas pero también dolorosas porque allí experimenté el racismo. Allí hice toda mi carrera, tengo un nombre en Italia y hay gente que me recuerda con mucho cariño. Sí Dios me lo permite, pienso volver a Italia a estudiar el curso de entrenador para poder dirigir en Italia.

¿Cuál es el trabajo que haces con los niños y jóvenes? Viajo a diferentes ciudades para hablar a los jóvenes acerca del soccer y la importancia de la disciplina. También hago énfasis
