Twentieth in OF Ordinary Time FOURTHSunday SUNDAY ADVENT

Seasons of Mercy Reflections by Pope Francis Advent—Waiting to Encounter Mercy Incarnate In the life of every Christian there is an experience of a personal encounter with Jesus Christ who called us to follow him and share in his mission. We must learn to treasure in our hearts the living memory of that call, when Jesus passed my way, gazed at me with mercy and asked me to follow him. Try to revive the memory of that moment when his eyes met yours, the moment when he made you realize that he loved you. But do I remember it? Have I forgotten it? Have I gone off on paths that made me forget it? Lord, help me, for you know that I want to encounter you and to let myself be embraced by your mercy. Mary sustains our journey toward Christmas, for she teaches us how to live this Advent season in great expectation of the Lord. For Advent is indeed a time of waiting for the Lord, who will visit us all on the feast of Christmas, but also, each one, in our own hearts. The merciful Lord is coming! Let us wait for him! Pray for…

Dear Parishioners, As we celebrate the birth of Jesus into the world this Christmas let us focus on the unique gift of our families….whether living or deceased, together or separated. It is the heart’s deepest desire to be with those we love and treasure. May we keep in prayer the millions of people around the world and in our own land who have been separated from their loved ones, and displaced from their homes due to violence, natural disasters, or unwise decisions. May we make Christ centered decisions that always reflect how we value those who are dear to us and those in need while we have the gifts of time and faith. Merry Christmas, Fr. John Licari Parish Administrator

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
