Liturgy Corner April 9, 2023 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord. J esus is Risen! Easter Sunday is the triumphant finale of the Triduum and the inseparable conclusion of the Holy Saturday Vigil. With sunrise services, fragrant flowers, and jubilant song, Christians celebrate the Paschal Mystery. The death of our Lord is the birth of the Church, the body of Christ on earth. The Lord is truly risen, alleluia. To him be glory and power for all the ages of eternity, alleluia, alleluia. and on Easter Sunday Alleluia is our Song And then we begin the Octave of Easter where we celebrate Easter for 8 days and enter into 50 days of rejoicing Easter Blessings, Gay Snell EASTER SUNDAY CHRIST IS

risen

The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon! Luke 24:34 Easter hope and joy caught on fast. The two disciples from Emmaus who relay the message that Christ is risen had only recently been sad and filled with doubt. They had abandoned hope in the crucifixion of Jesus. But not now. Now they are filled with hope and joy. Somewhere between their own encounter with the risen Lord and their race to be with the disciples gathered in Jerusalem, they also met Peter, who had seen the risen Lord too. Peter, the catcher of men, is himself caught up in the hope and joy of Easter. And before long, so would all of them catch the excitement, witnessing the proof in Jesus’ hands and side and feet. Lest we forget, the hope and joy of Easter began with Mary Magdalene who dashed from the open tomb, where Jesus stood alive, to exclaim to the disciples, I have seen the Lord (John 20:18). Catch the promise of Easter. Better yet, let Christ catch you in his surprising grace. Then go out and spread the Good News: Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
