A New Journey and a New Beginning! Dear Brothers and Sisters at St. Jude: Advent is the time to prepare ourselves for the miracle of God-becomingman for our becoming Divine. Jesus comes to bring justice, that is, to bring the right order to relationships between God and us, among ourselves. A just person is faithful to the duties of relationships. Sin is avoiding this responsibility. The absolute centrality of justice is underlined by the gospel, because the work of justice is to rearrange the world according to the purposes of God. That is the reason for Jesus’ coming. He reverses the world order as we know it. Our preparation for his coming includes our opening of inner eyes to see the injustices of our world. Have you seen the movie, Motorcycle Diaries? It is about the youthful exuberance and adventure of two young men with idealism and passion. The trip around the South American continent not only takes them to the far corners of a beautiful and fascinating continent, but also to the inner core of their souls and changes them once and for all. Sensing various forms of injustices, the two young men resolve to dedicate their lives to bring justice and compassion to the neglected and marginalized members of the society. Pope Francis writes: “God shows the poor ‘his first mercy.’ This divine preference has consequences for the faith life of all Christians, since we are called to have ‘this mind… which was in Jesus Christ’. Inspired by this, the Church has made an option for the poor which is understood as a ‘special form of primacy in the exercise of Christian charity, to which the whole tradition of the Church bears witness” (Evangelii Gaudium, 198-199). What are we to do during the season of Advent? First, Re-member: if we are away, get back and reinserted as a member of the Body of Christ. Two, Re-pent: turn around; if you see yourself heading south when you mean to go north, there is only one thing you need to do: turn around. Three, Re-hearse: Live the reign of God, practice the virtues of the kingdom of God: justice, love and compassion, because “your redemption is at hand.” As the lives of the young men on a motorcycle were re-oriented, may we begin this Advent journey with fresh enthusiasm and be ready to be changed by the coming Messiah! CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TREE Our major parish Advent/Christmas outreach is the Christian Spirit Tree. There are still plenty of envelopes on the trees in the church that invite you to give a Christmas gift to “children” of all ages. Pease take one, fulfill the request and return it to the Thaddeus Room and Madigan Hall on the weekend of Dec. 10-11, 2016. CHRISTMAS CONCERT Christmas is coming! Take a break from your preparations to enjoy music of the season presented by the choirs and instrumentalists of the Shrine of Saint Jude. The free concert will be in the church on December 17,2016 at 7:00pm, and will be followed by a light reception in the Thaddeus room.

El pecado es evitar esta responsabilidad. La centralidad absoluta de la justicia es subrayada por el evangelio, porque el trabajo de la justicia es arreglar el mundo de acuerdo al propósito de Dios. Ésa es la razón de la venida de Jesús’. Él invierte el orden del mundo como la conocemos. Nuestra preparación para su venida incluye la apertura de nuestro interior para reconocer las injusticias de nuestro mundo. Posiblemente usted haya visto la interesante película, Diarios de la motocicleta. Es acerca de la exuberancia y aventura de dos jóvenes con idealismo y pasión. El viaje alrededor del continente latinoamericano no sólo los lleva a las esquinas lejanas de un continente hermoso y fascinador, sino también a la base interna de sus almas y los cambia de una vez por todas. Detectando varias formas de injusticias, los dos jóvenes resuelven dedicar sus vidas para traer la justicia y la compasión a los miembros descuidados y marginados de la sociedad. CONCIERTO DE NAVIDAD ¡Se acerca la Navidad! Tómese un descanso de sus preparativos para disfrutar de la música de la temporada presentada por los coros y músicos del Santuario de San Judas. El concierto gratuito será en la iglesia el 17 diciembre, 2016 a las 7:00pm y será seguido por una recepción en el salón de Tadeo. No se permiten flores en el altar durante el Adviento. Usted puede donar flores de Pascua en memoria de un ser querido durante la época navideña. Los sobres están en su paquete de sobres o en la entrada principal de la iglesia. Por favor indique el nombre de la persona para poderla incluir y ser recordada en el boletín. Donación sugerida es de $20. Nuestro mayor alcance de Adviento/Navidad parroquial es el Arbol del Espíritu Cristiano. Todavía hay gran cantidad de sobres en los árboles en la iglesia que le invita a dar un regalo de Navidad a los "niños" de todas las edades.
