Why are these grouped together?? Good question! We just looked at the verb tener. Do you remember why the yo form was special?

On the “go” The yo form of venir is: yo vengo How about the yo forms for:

Wait! There’s more! There are a few quirks: hacer > yo hago traer > yo traigo conocer > yo conozco

What about “saber”? Good question! It’s very irregular: saber > yo sé Notice the accent on sé

Conocer = to know a person, or to be acquainted or thoroughly familiar with a person or thing
Notice the contrast between saber and conocer in the following sentences. Yo sé quién es Selena Gomez, pero no conozco a la señorita Gomez personalmente. I know who Selena Gomez is, but I don’t know Miss Gomez personally.
Sabemos dónde está Guadalajara, pero no conocemos la ciudad.
We know where Guatamala is, but we aren’t familiar with the city.
Julia sabe que Rigoberta Menchú recibió el premio Nobel, pero no conoce sus obras. Julia knows that Rigoberta Menchú received the Nobel prize, but she isn’t acquainted with her works.
