Ibiza, the new club created by Giuseppe Cipriani, which will certainly offer a summer with a bang! Name. Lucien Nicolet. Where are you originally from? I am Swiss-Chilean. My mother is from Chile and my father from Switzerland. I was born in Switzerland but we moved to Chile and grew up there. I moved back to Europe in 2001. 

You’re a celebrated DJ and producer and have played in the best clubs and festivals worldwide. What has been the best moment of your career so far? For me, it was sharing the stage with Lenny Kravitz at the 123 Festival in Ibiza. It was a big challenge for me, as I have always loved his music and his a huge inspiration to me, so being on stage with him was a very special moment. 

Age. I am 35 years old.  Your relationship with Ibiza. It’s a long love story! From the day I arrived here I fell completely in love. I’m always very thankful for this beautiful island.

This year Vagabundos moves to Booom! Ibiza, the newest club on the island. What do you expect from this season 2013? Another Vagabundos adventure! Finally we will do the Opening party on the 21 of July with Carl Craig b2b Mirko Loko, Ernesto Ferreyra and myself.

How would you define Booom! Ibiza? Bim Bam B…   What hardware/software do you use to produce music? I use various bit of hardware and software. I don’t want to focus on a special technic… I have always been a machine/instrument lover. I have collected them since I was young. Also, I love travelling the world with a little recorder picking up sounds from different parts of world. All my creative processes are done on different machines and re-worked with Logic and Live with some plugins. I have no rules, I always try to brake the limits. I hate to just focus on my computer screen. The sound needs to come from everywhere (machines, computer, recordings, live instruments). Finally, I drop all my channels on a mixing desk and I do the final sequencing with Protools. By the way, you need to remember one thing: music is a story, it’s emotion, love. Music doesn’t need to be limited to a certain instrument or way of work. It’s a creative process with no limits.   Your favorite club in the world. I love open air parties! Many places! Or those special places that turns into a club for one night.  For example, this weekend we are celebrating our 10 years in Le Bois de Vincennes, Parc Floral in Paris! It’s an amazing beautiful place so I am very excited.   Your favorite spot in Ibiza. My favorite spot is called Islas Bledas, 30 meters underwater!   What do you think of N&D Magazine? It’s a great way to be connected with the night life of Ibiza.

Tengo 35 años.    Tu relación con Ibiza. ¡Es una larga historia de amor! Desde el día que llegué aquí me quedé completamente enamorado. Siempre me siento muy agradecido en esta hermosa isla.   Eres un DJ y productor famoso, y has tocado en los mejores clubes y festivales de todo el mundo. ¿Cuál ha sido el mejor momento de tu carrera hasta el momento? Cuando compartí escenario con Lenny Kravitz en el Festival 123 de Ibiza. Fue un gran reto para mí, ya que siempre me ha gustado su música y ha sido una gran inspiración para mí. Estar en el escenario con él fue un momento muy especial.   Este año Vagabundos se traslada a Booom! Ibiza, el flamante nuevo club de la isla. ¿Qué esperas de esta temporada 2013? ¡Otra aventura Vagabundos! Todos mis procesos creativos se hacen en máquinas diferentes y luego los trabajo con Logic y Live con algunos plugins. No tengo reglas, siempre intento superar los límites. Odio tener que centrarme sólo en la pantalla de mi ordenador. El

sonido tiene que venir de todas partes (máquinas, equipos, instrumentos, grabaciones en vivo). Por último, pongo todos los canales en una mesa de mezclas y hago la secuencia final con Protools. Por cierto, hay que recordar algo: la música es una historia, es emoción y amor.  La música no debe estar limitada a un determinado instrumento o forma de trabajo. Es un proceso creativo sin límites.   Tu club favorito en el mundo. ¡Me encantan las fiestas al aire libre! ¡Son muchos lugares! O esos lugares especiales que se convierten en un club por una noche. Por ejemplo, este fin de semana celebraremos nuestros diez años en Le Bois de Vincennes, el Parc Floral de París. Es un lugar increíblemente hermoso, estoy muy emocionado.   Tus lugares favoritos en Ibiza. Mi lugar favorito es Islas Bledas, ¡a unos 30 metros bajo el agua!   ¿Qué opinas de N&D Magazine? Es una excelente manera de estar conectado con la vida nocturna de Ibiza.

Café le Vele... At Cafe Le Vele ...flavours of the sea, the keyword is authenticity! Everything on the lunch menu - salads, arancini, baked pasta, fish, meat and even the ice cream - is of the finest quality and genuine, and almost everything comes from Italy. The buffet breakfasts are tasty and noteworthy, with generous portions of sweet and savoury dishes. At lunch we prepare menus with several combos. It’s worth highlighting the menu for operators on the island for only €5, which includes food, drink and coffee or ice cream, or the menu with a big salad and the combos. The big news this month is the RAW VEGAN FOOD corner, all organic and healthy food with vegetables, with no food of animal origin. It’s a new way to eat healthily and light. The ice cream and the beautiful bowls garnished with fruit and cookies are worth a “pit-stop” after the beach. Finally, the aperitif with buffet finger food, with various DJ sets and live music, form the framework for what is the real jewel in the crown – the dinner with express food and delicious fish imported directly from Sicily. The owners have FIDELITY and VIP cards available for customers, meaning the advantage is guaranteed! The only thing not to forget when you go to Café Le Vele is your swimsuit. With the beach just a few steps away, it would be a shame not to take advantage!

Al mediodía hay menú con varios combinados. Hay que destacar el menú para los trabajadores de la isla, que por sólo 5 € incluye comida, bebida y café o un helado, o el menú con ensalada grande y los platos combinados. La novedad de este mes es el rincón RAW FOOD VEGAN, todo comida orgánica y saludable con verduras y sin ningún alimento de origen animal: una nueva manera de comer sano y ligero. El helado y los hermosos cuencos adornados con fruta y galletas merecen una parada después de la playa. Por último, el aperitivo con buffet de FINGER FOOD, con varias sesiones de DJ y música en vivo, hacen de marco a lo que es la verdadera joya de la corona, es decir, la cena con cocina exprés y delicioso pescado importado directamente de Sicilia. About allergies Las ALERGIAS At the request of my dear Christian Dori, this month we’re going to talk about allergies. Although we are entering summer and a lot of allergies are left behind, in this issue we’re going to discuss the causes of allergies and how to alleviate their symptoms through food. An allergy is an overreaction to a substance that the body recognizes as harmful. The body secretes histamines in response to toxicity. It is said that allergic people have repressed a conflict or aggression related to fear at some point in their lives. There are allergies to pollen, animal hair, dust, wheat or dairy products, etc. Food can be a good way to lessen the effects of an allergy (rash, hives, dripping nose, sneezing, swollen eyes, etc.). The best nutrients for alleviating allergies are: - Vitamin C, which has great antihistaminic properties and keeps our body free of toxins. Sources of vitamin C are acidic fruits (orange, grapefruit, clementine, strawberries, pineapple, etc.), parsley, pepper, tomatoes, watercress, broccoli or cauliflower, Acerola cherries, and currants. - Vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid, which reduces congestion from several allergies. Shitake mushrooms, sunflower seeds, avocado and rice bran. In the animal world it is found in chicken, fish and eggs. - Omega 3, which is a great anti-inflammatory. It is present in fish (anchovy, tuna, bonito, mackerel, salmon, sardines), walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc. - Magnesium aids recovery from asthma attacks caused by allergies. It relaxes the walls of smooth muscles. Sources

of magnesium are rice, apricots, dates, green leafy vegetables, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. - Sulphur is another anti-inflammatory mineral, which is present in hazelnuts, dried beans, cabbage, and sprouts. It is important to reduce and eliminate our intake of cheese, eggs, chocolate, mustard and especially alcohol and tobacco since they intoxicate our body with more histamines and aggravate the discomfort of an allergy. An infusion of chamomile and yarrow three times a day helps to prevent the body from producing histamines. It is also very useful to restore the intestinal flora through pre- and probiotics, so the bacteria are regulated and our immune system remains strong. –––––– A petición de mi estimado Christian Dori, este mes vamos hablar de las alergias. A pesar de que ya estamos entrando en el verano y que muchas de las alergias van quedando atrás, en este número vamos hablar de las causas de las alergias y de cómo paliar sus síntomas a través de la alimentación. Una alergia es una reacción exagerada a una sustancia que nuestro cuerpo reconoce como nociva. El organismo segrega histaminas en respuesta a la toxicidad. Se dice de los alérgicos que son personas que han reprimido en algún momento de sus vidas un conflicto o una agresividad ligada al miedo. Existe la alergia al polen, al pelo de los animales, a los ácaros, a productos de trigo, a productos lácteos, etc.

La alimentación puede ser una buena forma de disminuir los efectos de la alergia (sarpullidos, urticaria, rinitis, estornudos, inflamación de los ojos...). Los mejores nutrientes para paliar las alergias son: - La vitamina C, que tiene un gran poder antihistamínico y mantiene a raya nuestro organismo, libre de toxinas. Fuentes de vitamina C son las frutas ácidas (naranja, pomelo, clementinas, fresas, piña...), el perejil, el pimiento, los tomates, los berros, el brócoli o la coliflor, acerolas, grosellas... - La vitamina B5 o ácido pantoténico, que reduce la congestión en muchos tipos de alergia. Las setas shitake, las semillas de girasol, el aguacate o el salvado de arroz la contienen. En el mundo animal la encontramos en el pollo, el pescado y los huevos. - Omega3, que es un gran antinflamatorio. Está presente en el pescado (anchoa, atún, bonito, caballa, salmón, sardina), en las nueces, las almendras, las semillas de calabaza... - El magnesio, que mejora los ataques de asma provocados por las alergias. Relaja las paredes de los músculos lisos. Fuentes de magnesio son el arroz integral, albaricoques, dátiles, vegetales de hoja verde, almendras o pipas de calabaza. - El azufre es otro mineral antinflamatorio. Está presente en avellanas, judías secas, col y germinados. Es importante reducir y eliminar de la dieta el queso, los huevos, el chocolate, la mostaza y, sobre todo, el alcohol y el tabaco, ya que intoxican más nuestro organismo, desencadenando más histamina y agravando las molestias de la alergia. Una infusión de manzanilla y milenrama tres veces al día ayuda a impedir que el cuerpo produzca histamina. También es de gran utilidad restablecer la flora intestinal a través de pre y probióticos, de esta manera las bacterias quedan reguladas y el sistema immunológico se mantiene fuerte.

“M.A.R.; the LATEST ADVENTURE for the PIERA SIBLINGS” Sergio Piera is a multi-talented film director with a strong background in image, sound, photography and painting. After his debut, the bold film COLORS 2012, he is working on what they call the “great script”: a story that develops in an imaginary world with rather strange characters. M.A.R. is a great story written by Blancamar Foronda, Sergio’s wife, who in an act of love has spent three years researching and writing for the sole purpose of giving the gift Sergio needs to make his dream come true: filming his big film. I must say Carolina Piera is a casting director with a big personality, and is one of the most professional I’ve ever met. She has been able to get her views across in the presence of leading filmmakers who have commissioned the casting of their movies. She knows no fear, and couldn’t care less about the

pressures that casting directors usually suffer when hiring “actors” who couldn’t be less interested in the quality of their acting. Now she faces this challenge alongside her brother Sergio, two great powers that share the same blood and that together will be a huge success. In previous articles I have been very critical of the castings in the movie and TV industries in Spain. Sergio was bold and filmed COLORS 2012 with upcoming actors, a very difficult task for its plot, full of tenderness, in which he talks about complex themes such as interpreting love, betrayal and suicide. Now M.A.R. is here, filmed in English, with a large cast of international actors – some well known and others not so famous, but all with great careers behind them. Sergio continues tackling issues due to their human nature, which become complex: confinement,

claustrophobia and love will always be present. He will count on his sister Carolina for the casting and a great photography director from LA (USA), who will provide the foundations for this high quality film. ––––– Sergio Piera es un director de cine muy polifacético, con una sólida formación en imagen, sonido, fotografía y pintura. “M.A.R.; la PROXIMA AVENTURA de los HERMANOS PIERA” De Carolina Piera debo decir que es una directora de casting con personalidad. Es una profesional como pocas me he encontrado. Ha sabido siempre imponer su criterio ante grandes directores de cine que le han encargado el casting de sus películas. No tiene miedo y le importan muy poco las presiones que suelen recibir los directores de casting para contratar a «actores» que interesan por cualquier cosa menos que por su calidad a la hora de actuar. Ahora afronta este desafío junto a su hermano Sergio, dos grandes energías

de la misma sangre de cuya unión resultará un grandísimo éxito. En anteriores artículos he sido muy crítico con cómo funcionan los castings en la industria del cine y la TV en España. Sergio fue valiente y rodó su película COLORS 2012 con un reparto de actores noveles. Tarea muy difícil por su argumento, cargado de sensibilidad, en el que se tocan temas tan complejos de interpretar como el amor, la traición y el suicidio. Ahora llega M.A.R., película rodada en inglés, para la que ya se prevé

un gran casting con actores internacionales que, con fama o sin ella, cuentan con grandes trayectorias a sus espaldas. Sergio seguirá tratando temas que, por su humanidad, se convierten en complejos: el encierro, la claustrofobia y el amor estarán siempre presentes. Orecchiette Carlofortina Orecchiette Carlofortina   350 grams of orecchiette 250 grams of tuna in oil 150 grams of pesto 80 grams of tomatoes 5 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil   Ingredients for the pesto 50 grams of basil 100 ml extra of virgin olive oil 100 grams of grated Parmesan cheese 15 grams of pine nuts       A pinch of salt  2 cloves of garlic   Preparing the pesto Put the basil, oil, garlic, pine nuts and Parmesan cheese in the blender. Blend everything until it is reduced to a cream. Cook the pasta in salted water. Cut the tomatoes into small cubes in a baking dish with tuna and olives. Drain the pasta and pour into the pan where you have previously prepared the sauce, then add the pesto and serve. This dish can also be served cold.

Mezclar todo hasta que quede reducido a una crema. Cocinar la pasta en agua con sal, cortar los tomates en daditos y colocarlos en una fuente de horno con el atún y las aceitunas. Escurrir la pasta y verterla en la sartén donde se ha preparado previamente la salsa; agregar el pesto y servir. Este plato también es excelente servido frío.

Benedicte Name Benedicte. Where are you originally from? I was born near Lille, in northern France, to an Italian mother and a French father. Why did you come to Ibiza? The first time I visited Spain was on a family holiday. I went to Valencia first, where I encountered the world of nightclubbing, during the famous ‘Ruta Destroy’ raves, and some friends invited me to Madrid. I was 19 years old, and the ‘movida’ movement was in full swing. I was lucky enough to have Pedro Almodovar as my neighbour, and with him I went to the premiere of The Law of Desire. I didn’t speak any Spanish, and he was my teacher. In addition, he introduced me to the photographer Alberto García-Alix, who took pictures of me for a calendar. What do you do in Ibiza? After 17 years I’m working for Pacha again. It’s a great honour for me. In these last few years I’ve done other things, like getting married and becoming a mother. I work in PR, and I’m most interested in treating people well. In Ibiza the trend now seems to be to go back to the beginning, to the essence. Customers need to feel at home. Once it was quite simple because the atmosphere was more intimate. Now that the number of customers has increased, it is more difficult that a person feels unique and well received in a club. But we must do it. Tell us about your plans and your collaboration with N&D. My goal is to re-educate people about good music, that’s essential for me. I’m addicted to music, my goal is to work in this world, with the music I like. I also want to express my opinion on the music of the club where I work and organize my own parties. Can you name some of your favourite artists? For the old school, Flavio Vecchi, who I’ve always liked, while among the newcomers, Maceo Plex.

Interview entervista entervista Interview interesa es tratar bien a la gente. En Ibiza parece que la tendencia ahora es volver a los orígenes, a la esencia. Los clientes tienen que sentirse como en casa. Una vez era bastante sencillo de hacerlo porque todo era más íntimo. Ahora que el número de los clientes se ha multiplicado, lograr que una persona se sienta único y bien recibida en un club es mas difícil. Pero tenemos que lograrlo. Háblanos de tus planes y tu colaboración con N&D. Mi objetivo es reeducar al público hacia la buena música, que para mí es esencial. Soy adicta a la música, mi objetivo es trabajar en este mundo, con la música que me gusta. También quiero dar mis opinones sobre la música del club donde trabajo, programar mis propias fiestas. ¿Nos puedes nombrar algunos de tus artistas favoritos? De la vieja escuela me gusta Flavio Vecchi, desde siempre, mientras que, de los nuevos, Maceo Plex. ¿La mejor fiesta del año? Los domingos con Solomun. Será la fiesta del verano.

Ibiza 2013 The summer of expensive flights El verano de los vuelos caros The summer of 2013 will be remembered for the high cost of flights to Ibiza. Compared to 2012, the cost of airline tickets to the island has risen considerably. For example, in July and August, a return flight from Italy could cost over four hundred euros. You also have to add the “hidden costs” of those fake low cost companies, such as luggage you want to check-in and operating expenses, so the final price increases even more. El verano 2013 será recordado como la de los vuelos caros para Ibiza. Con respecto al 2012, el coste de los billetes de avión hacia la isla han aumentado notablemente. ¿Algún ejemplo? En julio y agosto un vuelo de ida y vuelta desde Italia puede costar más de cuatrocientos euros. A esto se añaden los «costes ocultos» de las falsas compañías low cost, como facturar el equipaje y los gastos de gestión, así que el precio final es aún mayor. Los operadores turísticos «independientes» son los que están más preocupados por esta subida de los precios –por ejemplo, los que alquilan habitaciones–, o los dueños de complejos turísticos que ven como se reduce el público de los turistas do-it-yourself. En el 2013 el turismo de personas que quieren vivir la isla en libertad sin comprar paquetes de tour operator – nos explica Maria, operadora del sector–, ha sido penalizado por la política de las compañías aéreas, que han subido los precios. Si un turista tiene que gastar cuatrocientos euros por persona solo para llegar a Ibiza, tomará en consideración destinos más económicos. Además, si le añadimos el hecho de que Ibiza objetivamente no es económica, el riesgo real es de que algunos targets de turistas decidan ir a destinos más baratos como la España continental, Croacia, Chipre y Grecia. Spain is feminist... or just for women who know their rights? ¿España es feminista o sólo lo es para las mujeres que conocen sus derechos? In Italy and around the world, a woman dies every two days at home, not on the street, not at the hands of a stranger, but in her family and at the hands of their partner (husband or boyfriend). Spain has a law made ​​by Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the Integral Law Against Gender-based Violence, which puts the country ahead of the rest of Europe. As a woman I would like to thank men like Zapatero who do not hide behind the prejudices, but recognize that violence against women is a serious problem and must be dealt with as such, men who open their eyes to an alarming situation that causes hundreds of deaths every year. But I am a lawyer and I can’t keep my mouth shut when I read the only article of the Law that I can quote you for reasons of space (after all, I assure you, the content remains the same for the other articles) Article 1. “Purpose of the Law. This Law aims to act against violence that, as an expression of discrimination, situations of inequality and the power relations of men over women.” What does it mean? That only women are victims, that only men are guilty. This regulatory section makes clear the inequality between men and women. But why? Weren’t we all equal before God and the law?

Como mujer, me gustaría dar las gracias a hombres como Zapatero que no se esconden detrás de los prejuicios, que reconocen que la violencia contra las mujeres es un problema grave y debe ser tratado como tal, a hombres que abren los ojos ante una situación alarmante que causa cientos de muertes cada año. Pero soy abogado de profesión y no puedo no quedarme sin palabras ante el único artículo de la Ley que no os puedo citar por razones de espacio (después de todo, os aseguro que el contenido de los demás artículos no cambia): Artículo 1. “Objeto de la Ley. La presente Ley tiene por objeto actuar contra la violencia que, como manifestación de la discriminación, la situación de desigualdad y las relaciones de poder de los hombres sobre las mujeres. ¿Esto qué quiere decir? Que sólo las mujeres son víctimas, que sólo los hombres son culpables. Indudable en este inciso normativo la desigualdad a priori entre el hombre y la mujer. Pero, ¿cómo? ¿No éramos todos iguales ante Dios y ante la ley?

MichelCleis Name. Michel Cleis. Where are you originally from? I’m from Lugano, the Italian part of Switzerland. It’s a very nice place during summer – meeting friends, nature at its finest, a nice lake, good food, interesting music festivals. You can forget winter there though. Relationship with Ibiza I just got married on the Island – and it’s a secret. I have some really good friends living in Ibiza. I received a DJ award in 2009, which was quite important for what happened after. I have a soft spot for the island. When did you start DJing? I started at 20 in Lausanne. I was there to do my University studies and play basketball. I wasn’t supposed to play music for people, but I had a big record collection: Soul, funk, jazz, disco, Brazilian music and other Latin stuff. So one night in the early nineties my friend Juice invited me to play with him in a club called Dolce Vita. We were big fans of Gilles Peterson’s sound and of his radio show, and we still are!! We had lot of fun that night so I continued playing. How did you join Cadenza and become part of this family? It came through Aminata, a friend of mine who was Luciano’s manager some years ago. She gave my music to Luciano, and we got in touch. A year later I had my first release on Cadenza and joined the agency. Now I have friends there, people I really appreciate. Being part of this team has been really important and a nice experience.

A collaboration with Basement Jaxx for something that will be on their new album. An EP on a nice label... Some new tracks and work on my lost album. Nacho: Work and it changed my life. Your jobs. Mar-T: DJ since 1992 as a hobby and as a job since 1996. Nacho: Public Relations since 1995 in Barcelona and 1998 in Ibiza. How did you meet? Mar-T: Our parents introduced us in 1998. Nacho: I came for a one-week holiday at Mar-T’s place and stayed the whole summer and I’m still here but now I have a home. Where do you work? Mar-T: I am resident at Amnesia and travel the world as a DJ. Nacho: Working at Amnesia every day and you can come and see me at my place in Frankfurt Ibiza harbour and Friday at Music On. What have been your favourite holidays and your favourite artists over the years? Mar-T: I love the

opening and closing parties of Amnesia and Music On where I am resident. I could make an endless list of the artists, but my all-time classic is Sven Väth Marco and my current favourite is Marco Carola. Nacho: Music On and People From Ibiza and of course Mar-T, Marco Carola and Paco Osuna as artists. Your favourite beach. Mar-T: I love Palmador, in Sa Alga because it is very quiet and there are no jellyfish! Nacho: Cala Comta because it is three beaches in one: at the same time you seem be in Sa Caleta, Cala Salada and don’t forget the natural cave.

Your favourite club in the world. Mar-T: Amnesia is my home. Nacho: Amnesia is the number one by far, but I also like Robert Johnson in Frankfurt. Your best performance so far. Nacho: The mess I made during the Marco Carola and Loco Dice session at Golden Gate in Naples. Your plans for this summer? Mar-T: Work, work and work and in between going to the beach. DJ Francesca Faggella Francesca Faggella is a new face on the island but not that new... English-speaking Italian Francesca grew up with music in their blood, recorded her first single aged 17 under the pseudonym of Sharon S, “Wonderful”. She made the top ten in northern Europe and Canada, and her second hit was “Makes me love you”, a Sister Sledge cover, and a hit in England that brought her on a world tour thanks to the video clip starring her friend David Morales. 
Francesca became the first singer in Italy to become recognized abroad thanks to her undeniable, soulful vocal talents and her energetic physical presence. She has always been in love with modern black music and in 1995 she went to Miami for the Winter Music Conference interviewing and interacting with top DJ’s, like Danny Tenaglia Frankie Knuckles, Masters at Work and Todd Terry. In her early twenties, she started to gain experience at Match Music, the 90s hotbed of talent in human resources, conducting the first program specializing in house music, “Underground Nation”.

 She also worked on one of the most prestigious Italian radio networks, Radio 105, from the studios of New York in 2001 and then in Milan until 2008, again distinguishing herself due to her international background. 
She presented the famous program Top of the Pops and 105 in da Klubb.

 Francesca has always been passionate about house music, and is one of the most popular Italian DJs at the more refined and sophisticated events and evenings of soulful house music.

 Her motto is “Music sounds better with me.”

Name M.A.N.D.Y. (Philipp Jung and Patrick Bodmer) Where are you originally from? Patrick:  Zürich  in Switzerland but I grew up in Saarbruecken, a little town in  Germany  together  with Philipp. We were right next to France, and crossed the border by bicycle. Age Philipp: Young, fearless, beautiful and ready! Patrick: Experienced :) Your relationship with Ibiza Patrick: It’s a big love affair. It started 15 years ago.  Philipp: A long-term love story since 1997. We can’t imagine a year without la isla bonita. Do you remember the first  time you played here? Philipp: Very much! We were Monza  residents alongside Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, etc., who hosted the  Amnesia  terrace for Cocoon. Patrick: Yes, that was the first season of Cocoon. We played the Amnesia terrace as residents for Monza. The morning after, we did played at the opening of the Space terrace, when it was still the old terrace with the open roof. Fat Boy Slim played after us. I remember that 6 bouncers entered the DJ booth and told us that we have to finish and to clear  the booth in the next 2 minutes. I forgot my headphones and needed to wait 2 hours to get them back. You’re celebrated DJs and  producers, and have played in the best clubs and festivals worldwide. What has been the best moment of your career so far?

M.A.N.D.Y. Patrick:  There have been so many moments, I can’t really tell. It is sometimes just random  moments when it all comes together during a gig. And other moments were more  concrete, for example  when the Pet Shop Boys called my hotel room in Mexico. They wanted us to play our show 2 hours earlier  than scheduled, so that they could join us for an after show party and they loved our music. Another thrilling moment was the first live gig we ever played, at the Coachella Festival. Philipp: The best moments are the ones when Parick and I play together and we understand each other without words. This summer you’re presentingGet Physical at Privilege. What do you expect from this 2013 season? Philipp:Forusit’ssoincredibly beautiful to have a beautiful house for the whole summertime where we can host all our dearest friends and artists, and to invite a lot of those people who we admire and love and listen to their  sounds, and play together every weekend. Patrick: This season will bring more changes again, many new parties and programs  and I think it will be a real challenge to fill all the places every day. For us it’s already got off to a great start with so many good friends  around us. So I expect a thrilling first season for us. Have you got a release coming out this summer? Philipp: A new single “Feel It In Your Brain” is out very soon on the Cityfox label from Zurich, with remixes by  Baikal and Adriatique. And we

have  a remix for Westbam and another for an old classic as well. After the  summer, we have more studio time lined up. Patrick: And many  more Mandy releases are coming out. My favourite is a remix of a remix, which we did for Damian Lazarus, called  “Neverending”. And  we’ve done a compilation with exclusive tracks from most artists who are playing at our night. Your favourite club in the world? Philipp: Our living room. Patrick: mine is Hardpop, Juarez. For many reasons. Your favourite beach in Ibiza? Patrick: Atlantis. imaginarnos un año sin la isla bonita. ¿Os acordáis de la primera vez que pinchasteis aquí? Philipp: ¡Me acuerdo muy bien! Estábamos entre los residentes de Monza con Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, etc., en la terraza de Amnesia para Cocoon. Patrick: Sí, fue la primera temporada de Cocoon. Pinchamos en la terraza de Amnesia como residentes de Monza. A la mañana siguiente hicimos la inauguración de Space, cuando todavía había la antigua terraza con el techo abierto. Después de nosotros pinchó Fat Boy Slim. Recuerdo que entraron seis guardias en la cabina del DJ y nos dijeron que teníamos que terminar y despejar la cabina en dos minutos. Me olvidé mis auriculares y tuve que esperar dos horas para recuperarlos. Sois DJ y productores de renombre y habéis pinchado en los mejores clubes y festivales de todo el mundo. ¿Cuál ha sido el mejor momento de vuestra carrera hasta ahora? Patrick: Son muchos, no sabría qué decir. A veces son momentos al azar en los que todo se junta durante un concierto. Y otros momentos más concretos, por ejemplo, cuando los Pet Shop Boys llamaron a mi habitación en un hotel de México. Querían que pincháramos dos horas antes de lo previsto para estar con nosotros en un after después del concierto, porque le encantaba nuestra música. Otro momento emocionante fue nuestro primer

concierto en vivo en el Coachella. Philipp: Los mejores momentos son cuando Patrick y yo pinchamos juntos y nos entendemos sin palabras. Este verano presentáis Get Physical en Privilege. ¿Qué esperáis de esta temporada 2013? Philipp: Para nosotros es tan bonito tener una casa aquí durante todo el verano en la que podemos tener a todos nuestros queridos amigos y artistas. Y para invitar a una gran cantidad de las personas que admiramos y amamos, de la que escuchamos su música y con los que tocamos juntos cada fin de semana. Patrick: Esta temporada traerá más cambios otra vez, muchas fiestas y programas nuevos, y creo que va a ser un verdadero desafío para llenar todos los lugares cada día. Para nosotros ya comenzó muy bien con muchos de los buenos amigos que nos rodean. Así que espero tener una emocionante primera temporada para nosotros.

¿Va a salir alguna release vuestro este verano? Philipp: Un nuevo single “Feel It In Your Brain” muy pronto en Cityfox, una etiqueta de Zürich, con remixes de Baikal y Adriatique. Y tenemos una remezcla para Westbam y otra para un viejo clásico también. Después del verano pasaremos más tiempo en estudio. Patrick: Y están saliendo muchos más lanzamientos de M.A.N.D.Y.. Mi favorito es un remix de una remezcla que hicimos para Damian Lazarus, llamado “Neverending”.Y hemos hecho un recopilatorio con temas exclusivos de la mayoría de los artistas que pinchan en nuestra fiesta. Vuestro club favorito en el mundo. Philipp: Nuestro salón. Patrick: El mío es Hardpop, Juarez. Por muchas razones. Vuestra playa favorita en Ibiza. Patrick: Atlantis. What brought you to the white island? Love brought me to Ibiza. I met my partner in London and my partner brought me to Ibiza 25 years ago. We’re still together, which proves I chose the right person and made the right decision too. What do you do? I’m the boss of La Troya. What’s it like working in the world of nightclubbing today? It remains a great challenge, there’s always work to do, but experience teaches you how to best use your strength and energy. Now I know how to handle the stress better. The night has changed a lot, but it’s still fun and unique in the world: there’s no other place like Ibiza. How has La Troya developed over the years? La Troya is Brasilio: it is the accumulation of all the parties that he’s created throughout his life. It is all these parties rolled into one. People born at the same time as La Troya, in the nineties, are our customers now and enjoy it as much as anyone has over almost twenty years. It’s like when a child grows up. Everything happened so fast that I can’t believe all these years have passed: from the beginnings in the cow room at Privilege it has been, and will remain, a true celebration and, of course, the best party in Ibiza. Your next goal? My next goal remains the same as always: to live surrounded by my friends and my love, in other

¿A qué te dedicas? Soy el jefe de La Troya. ¿Cómo es trabajar en el mundo del nightclubbing hoy en día? Sigue siendo un gran desafío, siempre hay mucho trabajo que hacer, pero la experiencia te enseña a usar mejor tus fuerzas y tu energía. Ahora sé cómo llevar mejor el stress. La noche ha cambiado mucho, pero sigue siendo divertida y única en el mundo: no hay dos sitios como Ibiza. ¿Cómo se ha desarrollado La Troya en estos años? La Troya es Brasilio: es el cúmulo de todas las fiestas que ha creado él a lo largo de su vida. Son todas estas fiestas reunidas en una. Personas que nacieron al mismo tiempo que La Troya, en los noventa, ahora son clientes y se lo pasan tan bien como todos hace casi veinte años. Es como un niño cuando crece. Todo pasó tan rápido que no me parece que hayan pasado todos estos años: desde los inicios en la sala de la vaca en Privilege hasta ahora es, y seguirá siendo, una gran y verdadera fiesta y, por supuesto, la mejor de Ibiza Tu próximo objetivo. Mi próximo objetivo sigue siendo el mismo: vivir el día rodeado de mis amigos y de mi amor, o sea, rodeado de amor... ¿Qué nos espera en La Troya esta temporada? Age Mental age 9 Your relationship with Ibiza Been coming here since 1988 as a clubber when the whole Acid House scene kicked off. Started promoting events here in 1996 and 1997 at Pacha with Ministry of Sound. I did an event in 2005 for Sankeys Soap 10th anniversary at a Playa D’en Bossa club called “Kiss Somny” (where Sankeys is now) and when I saw this venue I knew it was the perfect spot for Sankeys and always had my eye on it, but never did anything until the time was right. When Sankeys won DJ Mag 2010 best club in the World, the time was right and  I came back to the island  in 2011 to open Sankeys Ibiza. What’s your job? Director of Fun. Making sure clubbers have the time of their lives. Sankeys is one of the best-known clubs on the island. What is the secret of its success? Me and my amazing staff! Great musical programming and other stuff in our secret formula that we would rather not reveal. What is the party of this season? What is your favourite night at Sankeys? Now that would be telling :). They all have something special about them, which is why each of these seven nights is called the SEVEN WONDERS OF SANKEYS IBIZA. Plans for this summer? To be the best club in the Universe. 

Your next goal? To open clubs in New York, Miami and London. You can’t live without... My beautiful girlfriend. Gianni – Name Gianni Where are you from? I’m Italian, from Calabria, Cosenza to be precise. Relationship with Ibiza It was love at first sight... Your first time on the island? In the summer of 2000 on vacation. I came back every year until I finally moved to the island. What do you do? Now I am the owner of two places: Issu Café in Playa d’en Bossa and Peperoncino which is located in the town of Ibiza. How did you come up with the idea of opening a restaurant in Ibiza? The first year I came, I was in a bar in the port and said to myself “I have to open a bar in Ibiza...” A dream that I was able to accomplish. Tell us about Peperoncino, what are your specialities? The Peperoncino speciality is the pizza prepared by our Neapolitan pizza chef Carmine, cooked in a wood oven, and of course we only use 100% Italian products. We also have a variety of dishes, both meat and fish, cooked by Elio, our chef. How would you describe the ambience of Issu? Familiar, a mix of tourists and islanders, where you can eat or drink a cocktail accompanied by good music. News for this summer? This year’s news for Peperoncino is the delivery service and a larger

Cuando llegué, durante el primer año estuve en un bar en el puerto y me dije “tengo que abrir un bar en Ibiza...” Un sueño que tuve la oportunidad de hacer realidad. Háblanos de Peperoncino, ¿cuáles son sus especialidades? La especialidad de Peperoncino es la pizza de nuestro pizzero napolitano Carmine, cocida en horno de leña; por supuesto, sólo utilizamos productos 100 % italianos. También tenemos una gran variedad de platos, tanto de carne como de pescado, elaborados por Elio, nuestro chef. ¿Cómo describirías el ambiente de Issu? Familiar, una mezcla de turistas y gente de la isla donde se puede comer o tomar un cóctel acompañado de buena música. ¿Novedades para este verano? Name Saadi Mellakh Age 31 Where are you from? Casablanca – Morocco. Relationship with Ibiza: I came to Ibiza to live 4 summers ago. I was living in France for 8 years for studies, and then worked as promoter and artistic director for an underground club. I used to book some artists for my friend Christian Ruiz – the CEO of 07800 Management, and when we closed the club in France, I was looking for a new challenge so he asked me to come and stay and work with him in Ibiza as an agent/ manger for artists in his agency. Then I decided to stop working on the island. I was looking to understand myself, my relationship with music & art, to think about what I really want in life. The important thing is that my father is an artist – a painter, and he never did another job in his whole life. He worked by employing his only passion. So I grew up in an artistic environment, among painters, musicians, singers, actors, celebrities, etc. I know how to talk with and be around

artists. I have a special vision and philosophy about music, party, promotion, culture, etc. So after 3 years doing my business outside Ibiza as a promoter and booking agent, Anabel Bohemia asked me to join her team and to be in charge of the line ups and the booking management for her parties. She’s really doing her best to make things happen with passion and love, that’s the reason I said yes! We are doing LOGIN every Monday at Moma Club – Hotel Garbi, with artists such as Jef K, Alex Niggemann, Thomas Schumacher, Nick Warren, Dimitri Nakov, Agoria, Djebali, Ramon Tapia, Martin Eyerer, etc. I’m working in some new projects with Dimitri Nakov who was the first artist I saw playing in my life when I was 18 years old in a beach club in Casablanca, we met at DC10 last year... funny story. And from now, I’m going to help Night&Day Magazine, which I think is the best magazine in Ibiza, with some interviews and chronicles about some artists. Ibiza has changed me in a very good way, and I’m happy to be

Gay wedding in Ibiza Jean-Jacques & Luis Alberto Martinez After an incredible Stag Night in Marrakech, the wedding on October 13 on a private flight organized by his Marrakech-based friends, Audrey and Frank, along with their Moroccan friends, Denis and François, was an overwhelming success, as expected by the couple and guests.

They started on Friday with the welcome cocktail that was held at their friend’s Eric place, in Porroig. Saturday began with the ceremony, then the food followed by a sunset party at the incredible villa of their friend Denis in Es Cubells, with wonderful sea views, where JJ celebrated his 40th birthday last year.

Empezaron el viernes con el cóctel de bienvenida que se celebró en casa de su amigo Eric, en Porroig. El sábado empezó con la ceremonia, siguió con la comida y, después, con una fiesta al atardecer en la increíble villa de su amigo Denis en Es Cubells, con maravillosas vistas al mar, donde JJ había celebrado el año pasado su 40 cumpleaños. El atardecer llegó acompañado por el sonido del DJ Rémi Vannetti y por música gitana, entre momentos mágicos, antes de que todos se preparasen para una maravillosa cena en el Ayoun, que abrió de nuevo para la ocasión gracias a Charles, y acabasen la noche bailando con los DJ de WE y Matinée.

The sunset arrived to the sound of DJ Rémi Vannetti and Gypsy music, along with some magical moments before everyone got ready for a wonderful dinner at the Ayoun, which opened again for the occasion thanks to Charles, and the night ended in dancing with the WE and Matinée DJs. The guests’ farewell dinner was more intimate and took place at the restaurant El Clos Denis, in San Rafael, on Monday night.
