Student Lunch Survey Dear Students: Your parents had their turn last spring. Now, it is your turn to give your input into the District’s lunch program. Please take a few minutes to complete the online survey and provide your opinions to help the District improve the lunch program. The survey will be available online now until Sunday, November 7. Thank you. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SPLMT3T Room 11 Fun Fair Update! Hello Washington Parents and Community, Thank you for your support for the Room 11 Fun Fair! Our class’ fundraiser was a huge success. All the children had a wonderful experience, and we far surpassed our goal of $450.00 earning a whopping $1058.00. This amount could not have been achieved without the determination and drive of Room 11’s fourth and fifth grade students and the generous support of the Washington School Community. Thank you! Now what? It has always been the class’ goal to earn enough money so that we could allow each class to select and then loan money to a person in need through Kiva.org. We have raised enough to allow each Washington School class to get $50.00 to lend as they wish through Kiva.org. I realize that this was a busy and confusing week to have a classroom fundraiser, but the money raised will be used for years. This $1000.00 will be in a secure Washington Elementary School account and will be used as seed money to be loaned over and over again by different classrooms to needy third world families. The students can follow their contributions with their classmates and feel that they are making a difference in the world. Room 11 will be making donations, to people through Kiva.org and then researching and learning about the recipients’ countries. We will study the economies and cultures of these countries hoping to better understand

the world we live in. So much of our fundraising is locally based and this is an opportunity to let the students see that they can have an impact on the world at large. The money we raised will be repaid to our account and then loaned again for years to come. If anybody has any questions about our efforts please feel free to contact me in person or at [email protected]. Thank you again for all of your support! Mr. Brian McManus and the greatest 4th and 5th grade class in the world!

If you weren’t able to come to school on Wednesday, please pick up your items from the MPR room before end of day on Friday, October 29th. Thank you. Book Fair - THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting the book fair and buying books for the classroom libraries. We sold nearly $8,000 worth of books and with our credit have bought more books for the classrooms and the library.
