TODD LAXSON, PGA

CCC announced Todd Laxson, PGA, as the Head Professional for the Country Club of Colorado. Todd is a second generation native of Colorado. He grew up in Manitou Springs, played golf in high school and college and graduated from UCCS. He and his wife Ann have two boys, Nicholas (11) and Luke (6) and Ann is a hospital administrator for UCHealth. Todd was the Head Golf Professional at Cherokee Ridge here in Colorado Springs. He joined Cherokee in 2000, was promoted to HP in 2004. In Todd’s role at Cherokee Ridge, he has been responsible for the Golf and Parks Operations for Cherokee Metropolitan District and in the past couple of years Cherokee Ridge has become the second busiest golf course in the city. Todd is the lead instructor for a Junior Golf program with over 200 kids. Cherokee and his team host many leagues, teams and tournaments, and he is excited to bring that experience and enthusiasm to our Club. Todd is currently serving as the Head Coach for the UCCS Women’s Golf Team. They are a top 40 program in Division II in the country. Todd loves to teach and mentor players and staff and takes great pride in their success.

Golf Maintenance Letter from Glenn

The historic drought continues here in Colorado Springs and at the Country Club of Colorado. The Lake looks rough and lingers at the lowest water level that anyone can remember. However, there have been a couple positives this Fall. The weather has allowed for a nice extended golf season and the course continues to be in fine condition. The good weather has also allowed us time to work on projects and the re-construction and renovation in #13 fairway is well underway. We removed contaminated soils there, imported clean soils, added hundreds of feet of drainage pipe and pea gravel before re-grading the fairway and adding 3 small pot bunkers. The bunkers join the existing features on the left and will add a new risk/reward strategy to the short par 4. We will be cutting sod from other areas and finishing this project as fast as possible. If weather and temperatures hold out, we may have #13 grassed in the next couple weeks. I want to thank all the Members for another great year. Happy Holiday Season to everyone. Due to popular demand, the Aquatics team at the Country Club of Colorado will be reinstating our lap lane reservation system for the indoor pool effective tomorrow, November 1st. As a reminder, please make reservations on the membership portal or by calling the Aquatics Center at (719) 538-4087 to ensure you have a lane for your preferred swim time. Your lane will be reserved for you until quarter past the hour - for example, if you reserved your lane for 6:00am, we would hold a lane for you until 6:15am. Once that time passes, your lane will be given to those waiting. Please note that circle swim and lane sharing are still strongly encouraged in order to best accommodate all of our members.
