AGUADO GIMÉNEZ, PILAR Español Pilar Aguado-Giménez es licenciada en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia (1983/88), y se incorporó al Dpto. de Filología Inglesa en octubre de 1990. Obtuvo el grado de Doctor en 1997 con la tesis titulada Las acotaciones escénicas de Shakespeare: el primer infolio y la intervención editorial durante el s. XVIII, dirigida por Dr. Ángel-Luís Pujante. Ha desempeñado puestos de gestión en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa, y en el equipo directivo de la E.U.EE. Empresariales de Cartagena durante 9 años. Ha sido Visiting Scholar en la UCSD (1994) y en la Universidad de Alicante (1998/99), Secretaria de la revista Cuadernos de Filología Inglesa (en la actualidad IJES) (1993/95), y Advisor en el CAGE Panel de CUP. CANTOS GÓMEZ, PASCUAL Español Licenciado (1988) y Doctor (1993) en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia. Máster en Lingüística Computacional (1995) por la Universidad de Essex (Reino) y Especialista Universitario en Estadística Multivariante (2000) por la UNED. Profesor en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa desde 1990 (TU 1998, CU 2011). Ha impartido docencia también en Enseñanza Secundaria y en la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Murcia. Áreas de investigación: lingüística del corpus, lingüística cuantitativa, lexicografía computacional y enseñanza de lenguas asistida por ordenador. Es miembro del Grupo de Investigación LACELL (Lingüística Aplicada a la Computación, Enseñanza de Lenguas y Lexicografía), de la Universidad de Murcia.

English I received my BA (1988) and PhD (1993) degrees in English Language and Literature from the University of Murcia (Spain), my MA in Computational Linguistics (1995) from Essex University (UK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Multivariate Statistics (2000) from the UNED (Spain). I have been a lecturer inthe Department of English Language and Literature at Murcia since 1990. Priorto this I had spent two years teaching English in a secondary school and the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas of Murcia. My main research interests are in Corpus Linguistics, Quantitative Linguistics, Computational Lexicography and Computer Assisted Language Learning. I am a member of the LACELL (Lingüística Aplicada a la Computación, Enseñanza de Lenguas y Lexicografía) Research Group at the University ofMurcia.

CALVO LÓPEZ, CLARA Español Clara Calvo López es licenciada por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1985) y doctora por la Universidad de Nottingham, Reino Unido (1990). En la Universidad de Murcia, ha impartido varios cursos de literatura inglesa, incluyendo uno sobre la narrativa de Jane Austen, y otro sobre el proto-romanticismo de Alexander Pope y el augustanismo de Lord Byron. De 1995 a 2005, ha sido responsable de la sección de stylistics en The Year’s Work in English Studies. Su tesis doctoral, Power Relations and Fool-Master Discourse in Shakespeare (OPSL, 1991), aplicó el análisis del discurso a la obra de Shakespeare. Es co-autora, con Jean Jacques Weber, de The Literature 2

Workbook (Routledge, 1998) y ha publicado artículos sobre conversaciones telefónicas en la novela negra, los pronombres de segunda persona en Shakespeare (Language and Literature, 1, 1992) y Shakespeare en España. Su artículo más reciente ofrece una lectura de la novela de Jane Austen, Mansfield Park, como reescritura de King Lear (Shakespeare Survey 58, 2005). English Clara Calvo has a first degree in English Language and Linguistics from the University Complutensis of Madrid (1985) and a PhD from the University of Nottingham (1990). Her publications include articles on telephone conversations in crime fiction, the pronouns of address in Shakespeare (Language and Literature, 1, 1992) and Shakespeare in Spain. Her most recent article is a reading of Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park as a rewriting of Shakespeare’s King Lear (Shakespeare Survey 58, 2005). Her current research interests include, beside Shakespeare and Jane Austen, eighteenthcentury poetry, the Romantic period and crime fiction.

CEREZO, LOURDES Español Lourdes Cerezo realizó sus estudios de Filología Moderna: Inglés en la Universidad de Murcia (1990/95). Se incorporó al Dpto. de Filología Inglesa a finales de 1996, en el seno del cual imparte clases de lengua y lingüística inglesas tanto a nivel de licenciatura como de posgrado. Completó su doctorado en enero de 2007. Actualmente tiene el rango de Profª Titular de Escuela Universitaria. Su principal área de investigación es la lingüística aplicada, especialmente en lo que se refiere a la evaluación del aprendizaje de lenguas, la metodología para la enseñanza de lenguas y la utilización de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TICs) en el aula de idiomas. Ha desarrollado materiales y publicado artículos en sobre el aprendizaje integrado de contenidos curriculares y lenguas extranjeras (AICLE). También ha elaborado y publicado materiales para el aprendizaje del inglés y del español como lenguas extranjeras. Asimismo, es co-autora del Gran Diccionario de Uso del Español Actual (SGEL, 2001). La Dra. Cerezo está también implicada activamente en actividades de formación del profesorado, habiendo colaborado con la Consejería de Educación de la Región de 3

Murcia en la organización e impartición de cursos de metodología para profesores de lenguas nacionales y extranjeros. Desde 1997 es responsable de dos programas de intercambio Erasmus, con las universidades de Hull y Roehamtpon, en el Reino Unido, y, desde 2005, del intercambio con la Universidad de West Virginia, en Estados Unidos. Recientemente ha sido nombrada coordinadora de la materia Lengua Extranjera: Inglés para las Pruebas de Acceso a la Universidad. English Lourdes Cerezo received her Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Languages: English from the University of Murcia (1995). She joined the Dpto. de Filología Inglesa at this university in 1996, where she has been teaching English as a foreign language and applied linguistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She earned her Ph.D. in 2007. Her main field of research is applied linguistics, with a focus on second language testing and assessment, language teaching methodology, and the use of ICTs in the language classroom. She has developed materials and published articles on the integration of content and language in the secondary classroom (CLIL) and has elaborated and published materials for the learning of English and Spanish as foreign languages. She has also co-authored a dictionary of Spanish, Gran Diccionario de Uso del Español Actual (SGEL, 2001). Dr. Cerezo is also actively involved in teacher training activities, having collaborated with the regional Consejería de Educación in organizing and conducting courses on language teaching methodology for language teachers. She runs two Erasmus exchanges with the University of Hull and Roehampton University, in the UK, and another exchange with the University of West Virginia, in the United States. Finally, she has recently been appointed as coordinator for the test of English as a foreign language in the general examination battery that gives access to university in the region of Murcia. Her current rank is tenured Professor.

CONDE SILVESTRE, JUAN CAMILO Español Formado en Murcia (donde obtuve el grado de Doctor en 1990) y Manchester (como Research Fellow en 1992), estoy vinculado profesionalmente a la Universidad de Murcia desde 1986: como Profesor Ayudante (1986-1994), Profesor Titular (19942007) y Catedrático (desde diciembre 2007). También he sido profesor visitante en las universidades de Sevilla, Vigo, León, Oviedo, Chester y Essex. Mi actividad docente e investigadora se ha centrado preferentemente en las áreas de Literatura inglesa medieval, Inglés antiguo e Historia de la lengua inglesa, aunque también he impartido clases de lengua inglesa, español para extranjeros, variedades del inglés y de traducción (inglés-español), así como, en tercer ciclo, de metodología de la investigación en lingüística histórica y sociolingüística. Mis publicaciones se centran fundamentalmente en dos ámbitos: la literatura del periodo anglo-sajón (siglos VII-XI), donde destaca el libro Crítica literaria y poesía elegíaca anglosajona (1994), y el ámbito de la historia de la lengua inglesa, especialmente la lexicología y la sociolingüística histórica, donde destacan los manuales An Introduction to the History of the English Language I: Old English (1996) (con Aquilino Sánchez) y An Introduction to the History of the English Language II: Middle and Modern English (1998) (con Juan Manuel Hernández Campoy), así como la monografía Sociolingüística Histórica (Madrid: Gredos 2007) y la coedición de The Handbook of Historical Sociolinguistics (con Juan Manuel Hernández Campoy, en prensa para WileyBlackwell). English I took my degree in English Studies at the University of Murcia, where I finished my Ph.D. in 1990. Later I spent one year (1992) as Research Fellow at Manchester University, doing postdoctoral research. I has been teaching at the University of Murcia since 1986: as Lecturer (1986-1994), Associate Professor (1994-2007) and Full Professor (since december 2007). I have also been visiting scholar at Seville,Vigo, Leon, Oviedo, Chester and Essex. My research and teaching interests have concentrated in the fields of Medieval English Literature, Old English and the History of English; but, I have also taught courses on English and Spanish as Foreign Languages, Varieties of English, Translation (English-Spanish), as well as postgraduate seminars on research methods in historical linguistics and sociolinguistics. I have published mainly in two fields: Old English literature, where the book Crítica literaria y poesía elegíaca anglosajona (1994) should be highlighted, and the History of the English Language, 5

CRIADO SÁNCHEZ, RAQUEL Español Raquel Criado Sánchez es Profesora Titular en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Murcia y miembro del Grupo de Investigación LACELL (Lingüística Aplicada Computacional, Enseñanza de Lenguas y Lexicografía). Se licenció en Filología Inglesa y realizó el I Máster en Traducción e Interpretación (Inglés-Español), ambos títulos por la Universidad de Murcia. Obtuvo el doctorado en Filología Inglesa en la misma universidad con mención de Doctorado Europeo. Su tesis se titula Patterns of Activity Sequencing in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language and their Effects on Learning: A Quasi-Experimental Study. Recibió el Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura (1999-2000), Primer Premio Nacional de Filología Inglesa (1999-2000) y el Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado en Letras (Sección Filología), de la Facultad de Letras de la Universidad de Murcia. En 2010 se le otorgó el Premio de Investigación 2010 "Leocadio Martín Mingorance" de Lengua y Lingüística inglesas (XV edición) de la Asociación Española de Estudios Anglo-Norteamericanos (AEDEAN). Actualmente desempeña la función de Secretaria de Redacción de International Journal of English Studies (IJES), co-directora del panel de “Enseñanza de Lenguas y Diseño Curricular” de AESLA (Asociación Española de Lingüística Aplicada) y directora del panel de “Corpus, adquisición y enseñanza de lenguas” de AELINCO (Asociación Española de Lingüística de Corpus). Sus áreas de investigación y docencia se centran en la enseñanza y aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera. Ha realizado diversas estancias de investigación en prestigiosos centros especializados en Adquisición de Segundas Lenguas (Georgetown University y University of Maryland, EE.UU., University of Amsterdam, Holanda) y Enseñanza de Lenguas Extranjeras (Leeds Metropolitan University, Reino Unido).

La línea prioritaria de su investigación es el estudio de los procesos cognitivos que subyacen en el aprendizaje lingüístico y el modo en que dichos procesos se reflejan en los materiales utilizados para la docencia de lenguas extranjeras, con el fin de intentar mejorar la calidad de dichos materiales desde un punto de vista cognitivo. English Raquel Criado Sánchez is Associate Professor in the English Department of the University of Murcia and a member of the LACELL Research Group (Computational applied linguistics, language teaching and lexicography). Raquel Criado holds an MA in English Studies, an MA in Translation and Interpretation (English-Spanish) and a doctorate in English Studies, all three achieved at the University of Murcia, Spain. Her thesis, Patterns of Activity Sequencing in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language and their Effects on Learning: A Quasi-Experimental Study, is credited with the European Doctorate title. Raquel Criado received the First Rank Outstanding Student Achievement Award in English Studies at her own university and at a Spanish National Level (1999-2000), as well as the Outstanding Doctorate Achievement Award in Language Studies at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Murcia (2007-2008). Currently, she is Editorial Assistant of the International Journal of English Studies (IJES), co-director of the “Language Teaching and Syllabus Design” Panel of AESLA (Spanish Association of Applied Linguistics), and director of the “Corpus, Language Acquisition and Teaching” Panel of AELINCO (Spanish Association of Corpus Linguistics). Her teaching and research areas have been focused on Foreign Language Teaching and Learning. She has been a Visiting Scholar in internationally renowned universities in Second Language Acquisition (Georgetown University and University of Maryland, USA, and University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and Foreign Language Teaching (Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom).

Her main line of research is the study of the cognitive processes underlying linguistic learning and the manner in which such processes are reflected in foreign language teaching materials, with a view to improving the quality of such materials from a cognitive perspective. CUTILLAS ESPINOSA, JUAN ANTONIO Español Juan Antonio Cutillas acabó sus estudios de Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Murcia en 1999. Tras acabar la licenciatura, obtuvo una beca de la Fundación Séneca y se unió al departamento de Filología Inglesa como becario de investigación. Obtuvo el primer premio nacional de licenciatura en filología en el año 2000. En enero de 2001 comenzó una estancia de cinco meses en el University College de Londres, bajo la figura de affiliate research student. Finalmente, obtuvo una plaza de profesor ayudante en el departamento de Filología Inglesa en octubre de 2001, donde ha dado clases de prácticas de pronunciación y listening académico desde entonces. Sus intereses investigadores incluyen la sociolingüística (principalmente la variacionista y el estudio del estilo), la fonética, la fonología y la adquisición de segundas lenguas. La mayor parte de su trabajo se centra en la Teoría de la Optimidad: es el autor del libro Teoría Lingüística de la Optimidad (2003, Universidad de Murcia) y co-editor del monográfico Advances in Optimality Theory (IJES 4.2, 2004, co-editado con Paul Boersma).

English Juan Antonio Cutillas finished his studies of English Philology at the University of Murcia in 1999. Immediately after finishing his degree, he obtained a grant from the Seneca Foundation and joined the English Department as a research fellow. He was awarded the first national prize for Philology studies in 2000. Cutillas spent five months as an affiliate research student at the University College London (from January to June, 2001). Finally, he became a lecturer at the University of Murcia in October, 2001, where he has taught English pronunciation and academic listening since then. His research interests include sociolinguistics (mainly language variation and style), phonetics, phonology and second language acquisition. The bulk of his work deals with Optimality Theory: he is the author of the book Teoría Lingüística de la Optimidad (2003, Universidad de Murcia) and co-editor of the monograph Advances in Optimality Theory (IJES 4.2, 2004, co-edited with Paul Boersma).

ESTEBAN SEGURA, LAURA Español Laura Esteban Segura es licenciada en Filología Inglesa y en Traducción e Interpretación (Inglés, Francés) por la Universidad de Málaga. Defendió su memoria de licenciatura en Filología Inglesa y posteriormente realizó los cursos de doctorado en la citada Universidad, obteniendo el DEA en Traducción e Interpretación Especializadas. Tiene un Máster en Lengua y Lingüística Inglesas por la Universidad de Glasgow y es doctora en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Málaga. Ha sido becaria de investigación de la Junta de Andalucía, impartiendo docencia en las titulaciones de Ingeniería Técnica Industrial y de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Málaga. En el año 2008, obtuvo una plaza como profesora en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la 8

Universidad de Murcia, donde ha ejercido como docente en diversas titulaciones (Filología Inglesa, Estudios Ingleses, Traducción e Interpretación, Ciencias Políticas y de la Administración, Sociología, etc.). Sus principales áreas de investigación son la historia de la lengua inglesa, la edición de textos, la paleografía/codicología, el estudio de manuscritos y la traducción; su interés se centra especialmente en el estudio de manuscritos inéditos pertenecientes al ámbito de la medicina en inglés medio. Ha asistido y presentado ponencias en numerosos congresos internacionales relacionados con su línea de investigación en universidades españolas y extranjeras. Sus trabajos han sido publicados en revistas y editoriales de reconocido prestigio internacional como English Studies, Neuphilologische Mitteilungen, Studia Anglica Posnaniensia, Wiley-Blackwell o Peter Lang, entre otros. Pertenece al grupo de investigación de la Universidad de Murcia E020-11 “Filología Inglesa y Lingüística Histórica” y al de la Universidad de Málaga HUM-497 “CLEFT: Cambio Lingüístico y Edición Filológica de Textos”. Además, participa en varios proyectos de investigación subvencionados por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación y por la Junta de Andalucía. Asimismo, ha realizado varias estancias de investigación en el Departamento de Lengua Inglesa de la Universidad de Glasgow y en la Research Unit for Variation, Contacts and Change in English (VARIENG) de la Universidad de Helsinki. Ha participado en la organización de diversos eventos científicos y en la actualidad es Miembro de la Comisión de Coordinación Académica de Lengua Instrumental y Coordinadora de Lectores del Departamento. Her main research interests are in History of the English Language, Textual Editing, Paleography/Codicology, Manuscript Studies and Translation. The more specialist aspects of her research focus on the study of unedited medical manuscripts in Middle English. She has attended and presented papers in numerous international conferences and her works have been published in journals and volumes of renowned prestige such as English Studies, Neuphilologische Mitteilungen, Studia Anglica Posnaniensia, WileyBlackwell or Peter Lang, among others. Dr Esteban Segura has co-organized several conferences and is currently Member of the Academic Committee for Instrumental English and Coordinator of Language Assistants at the Department.

FERNÁNDEZ TOLEDO, PIEDAD Español Piedad Fernández Toledo cursó estudios de Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Murcia (1985-1990) y se incorporó al departamento de Filología Inglesa en 1992, tras finalizar con éxito un Máster en Lingüística Aplicada y Enseñanza de Inglés como lengua Extranjera en la Universidad de York. Es doctora por la Universidad de Murcia, tras defender en 2000 la tesis titulada “Conocimiento previo, esquemas de género y comprensión lectora del inglés como lengua extranjera”, dirigida por el Dr. Rafael Monroy Casas. Es profesora titular del departamento, y ha estado adscrita desde su incorporación a la Facultad de Comunicación y Documentación, donde imparte la mayoría de su docencia, centrada en el Inglés Profesional y Académico, y más específicamente Inglés para Documentación. Ha participado en diversos cursos de posgrado con módulos sobre Análisis de Discurso, Análisis de Géneros y sus aplicaciones en las áreas de Comunicación y Documentación y sobre Lenguas de Especialidad y sus vocabularios, en Lingüística Aplicada a la Lengua Inglesa. Sus publicaciones hasta la fecha han versado sobre diferentes aspectos de la Lingüística Aplicada, como el aprendizaje léxico y la lectura del inglés como lengua extranjera ("Inferencia Léxica en la Comprensión Lectora de textos en Inglés como L2”; 1997 – publicado con Flor Mena); la enseñanza del Inglés Profesional y Académico (IPA) y la alfabetización digital (“New technologies and genre variation. English Piedad Fernández Toledo (MA, PhD) joined the Department of English Philology at the University of Murcia (UMU) in 1992. She has lectured on English for Library and Information Science (undergraduate degrees) and Applications of Genre Analysis (postgraduate level). She has published articles linked to issues within the field of Applied Linguistics, such as EFL reading and vocabulary ("Inferencia Léxica en la Comprensión Lectora de textos en Inglés como L2”; 1997 –together with Flor Mena); ESP teaching and digital literacy (“New technologies and genre variation. GREGOR, KEITH Español Keith Gregor es Licenciado en Lenguas Modernas por la Universidad de Nottingham, Inglaterra, centro en el que obtuvo también el título de Master of Arts en Teoría Crítica. Es Licenciado en Filología Moderna por la Universidad de Sevilla y Doctor en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia, donde presentó una tesis doctoral sobre Sir Philip Sidney. Imparte clases en esta Universidad desde 1984, y desde 1998 es Profesor Titular de Universidad, cuyas actividades docentes y de investigación se centran en la literatura inglesa e irlandesa, sobre todo en el teatro. Es miembro del Grupo de Investigación “Shakespeare y la literatura isabelina” y participa, desde 2000, en el Proyecto I+D+i de Investigación, “La presencia de Shakespeare en España en el marco de la cultura europea” (www.um.es/shakespeare), proyecto del que en la actualidad es Investigador Principal. English Keith Gregor took a B.A. in Modern Languages at the University of Nottingham, where he also completed an M.A. in Critical Theory. He is a Licenciado en Filología Moderna from the University of Seville and a Doctor en Filología from the University of Murcia, where he presented a thesis on Sir Philip Sidney. HERNÁNDEZ CAMPOY, JUAN MANUEL Español Juan Manuel Hernández-Campoy se licenció en Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Murcia (1986-1991) y se doctoró en la misma especialidad y por la misma Institución en 1996 con la tesis doctoral Modelos de Difusión Geográfica de las Innovaciones Sociolingüísticas en los Acentos del Reino Unido, dirigida por el Prof. Dr. Rafael Monroy Casas. Actualmente es Catedrático de Sociolingüística en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Murcia, donde imparte cursos de Sociolingüística Inglesa, Variedades del Inglés, e Historia de la Lengua Inglesa (Inglés Moderno Temprano y Contemporáneo). Su investigación se centra en la sociolingüística, la dialectología, el análisis del discurso y la historia de la lengua inglesa. Teniendo como eje común vertebrador al estudio de los fenómenos del Variacionismo lingüístico tanto sincrónico como diacrónico, pueden concretarse sus principales líneas en: i) las interrelaciones entre lenguaje y sociedad, ii) 12

English Irina Keshabyan Ivanova holds a PhD in English/Corpus and Applied Linguistics from the University of Murcia, Spain (2010). The revised version of her dissertation was published under the title “Shakespeare’s Hamlet versus Sumarokov’s Gamlet: A Corpus-Based Perspective” by the German Publishing House LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing in 2011. She studied Russian and English at the Yerevan Pedagogical University of Russian and Foreign Languages in Armenia, the former USSR. She has been a full-time Associate Professor of Business English at the University of Murcia since 2001. She also teaches in different areas of English Philology such as the philology and culture of English-speaking countries, Legal English, etc. She is a coordinator of Russian Courses at the University of Murcia. She was previously a Lecturer of English in the Department of Intensive Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages at the Yerevan Pedagogical University, Armenia (1988-1993), and a Lecturer in Phonetics and Oral Practice at the Yerevan Pedagogical University of Russian and Foreign Languages, Armenia (1976-1982). Her main research area is centred on Computer-Aided Corpus Linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching, with a special interest in the field of English for Specific Purposes. LÓPEZ MAESTRE, MARÍA DOLORES

Español La Dra. María D. López Maestre es Licenciada en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia con Sobresaliente y Premio Extraordinario en 1988 y Doctorado en 1994. La ampliación de estudios la ha llevado a cabo en las Universidades británicas de Salford, Manchester Metropolitan University y Londres. En 1988 aprueba el concurso oposición de Profesorado Agregado de Bachillerato (Ministerio Educación y Ciencia), y ejerce como profesora de Enseñanzas Medias en Castilla-La Mancha y Murcia. Se incorpora al Departamento de Filología Inglesa (Universidad de Murcia) en 1988, obteniendo la Titularidad de Universidad en el año 2000. Desde entonces su docencia ha estado vinculada a la enseñanza de Estilística, Lengua y Literatura en lengua inglesa y Cultura Contemporánea así como a cursos master sobre Modernismo, Análisis Crítico del Discurso y Estudios de Género (Análisis e Investigación Feminista y de Género y Construcción Discursiva de Género). 16

Actualmente la Dra. MANCHÓN, ROSA M. Español Rosa M. Manchón cursó estudios de Lingüística en la Universidad de Sevilla y se doctoró en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia. Entró a formar parte del Departamento en 1985 y actualmente es Catedrática de Lingüística Aplicada. Su docencia incluye cursos en aprendizaje y enseñanza de segundas lenguas dentro del Grado de Estudios Ingleses y en diversos estudios de máster, en los que .también participa con cursos sobre metodología de investigación, por una parte, y aspectos lingüísticos y cognitivos del aprendizaje y uso de segundas lenguas, por otro. Sus intereses investigadores y sus principales publicaciones se enmarcan en el campo de la dimensión socio-cognitiva del aprendizaje de segundas lenguas, con especial referencia a los procesos de escritura en lengua no materna. Esta investigación ha sido difundida en publicaciones nacionales e internacionales tales como Communication and Cognition, Journal of Second Language Writing, Language Learning, Learning and Instruction y The Modern Language Journal. She has been the head researcher in a number of publicly funded research projects. She serves on the Editorial Board of various national and international journals. Rosa is a member of the Executive Board of AILA (International Association of Applied Linguistics), where she serves as AILA Publications Coordinator. As such she is the Editor of AILA Review and of the AILA Applied Linguistics (AALS) book series, published by John Benjamins. She has been Co-Editor of the Journal of Second Language Writing since 2008. MARÍN, MARÍA JOSÉ Español Mª José obtuvo su licenciatura en la universidad de Murcia en 1997 tras haber obtenido una beca de colaboración del Ministerio de Educación en 1996. En 2005, finalizó sus estudios de postgraduado en traducción Inglés-Español. En 2008 consiguió el Diploma de Estudios Avanzados (DEA) por la Universidad de Murcia. Aprobó las oposiciones al Cuerpo de Profesores de Enseñanza Secundaria en 1998, profesión a la que sigue dedicándose hoy en día. En 2009 ganó una plaza de profesora asociada al departamento de Filología Inglesa en el que continúa desempeñando esa labor. Recientemente ha entrado a formar parte del grupo de investigación LACELL del departamento (http://www.um.es/grupolacell) especializado en lingüística del corpus, lexicología y lexicografía y enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. English I graduated in English Language and Literature at the University of Murcia in 1997 after having been awarded a grant by the Ministry of Education in 1996. I became a secondary school teacher in 1998 and continue working as such. In 2009, I joined the English Department of the University of Murcia where I am currently working as a part-time lecturer. I have recently become a member of the LACELL research group within the English department (http://www.um.es/grupolacell/)specialised in corpus linguistics, lexicology and lexicography and foreign language teaching and learning, amongst others.My teaching areas are English as an instrumental and specialised language in the Degrees of English, Spanish Language and Literature, and Law. MARQUÉS AGUADO, TERESA Español Teresa Marqués Aguado cursó la Licenciatura en Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Málaga (1999-2004), donde prosiguió sus estudios de Doctorado en el programa “Estudios de Traducción: Investigación en Traducción e Interpretación Especializadas” (2004-2006). Obtuvo el Segundo Premio Nacional en los estudios de Filología Inglesa (Premios Nacionales Fin de Carrera de Educación Universitaria, curso 2003-2004), así como el Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura de la Universidad de Málaga (2005). Tras disfrutar algunos meses de una beca de investigación de la Junta de Andalucía (Beca investigación de Formación de Doctores en Centros de Investigación y Universidades Andaluzas) en la Universidad de Málaga, en abril de 2005 le fue concedida una beca del Programa de Formación de Profesorado Universitario (FPU) del Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia. Cuenta con un Máster en Lengua y Lingüística Inglesas por la Universidad de Glasgow (Reino Unido) y se doctoró en la Universidad de Málaga en noviembre de 2008 con una tesis sobre lingüística histórica titulada Edition and Philological Study of G.U.L. MS Hunter 513 (ff. 37v-96v). En febrero de 2009 obtuvo una plaza de ayudante en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Murcia, donde continúa su labor docente e investigadora. Su docencia se centra actualmente en la lengua instrumental de diversas titulaciones (Licenciatura en Filología Inglesa, Grado en Estudios Ingleses, Grado en Traducción e Interpretación). English Teresa Marqués-Aguado obtained her MA in English Studies at the University of Malaga (1999-2004), where she also completed a Master in Specialised Translation and Interpreting (2004-2006). She obtained the Second Rank Outstanding Student Achievement Award in English Studies at Spanish national level (2003-2004), and the First one at her own University. She was initially granted a PhD Research Scholarship at the University of Malaga by the autonomous government of the Junta de Andalucía, but in April 2005 she was granted a similar scholarship by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (FPU programme). She also holds a MLitt in English Language and English Linguistics (University of Glasgow) and completed her PhD Thesis in the field of Historical Linguistics (entitled Edition and Philological Study of G.U.L. MS Hunter 513 [ff. 37v-96v]) in November 2008. In February 2009 she joined the English Department at the University of Murcia as a Lecturer, where she continues working as a teacher and a researcher. Her teaching focuses on English Language for several degrees (English Studies and Translation and Interpreting). MARTÍNEZ LORENTE, JOAQUÍN English Joaquín Martínez Lorente studied Filología Inglesa at the University of Murcia (198186) and joined the English Department in 1986, where he has taught English Poetry and English Narrative (novel and fantasy fiction). His doctoral dissertation on genre theory and utopian writing (1991) oriented most of his research in subsequent years (mainly on narratology). Mtnez Pelegrín estudió Filología Anglogermánica en la Universidad de Valencia (1979), fue profesora encargada de curso en la Facultad de Medicina (1980-87) y en la Escuela de Informática (1987) de Murcia, uniéndose al Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Murcia en 1987, donde es profesora de inglés para estudiantes de medicina, odontología e informática. MENA MARTÍNEZ, FLORENTINA Español Florentina Mena Martínez finalizó sus estudios de licenciatura en la especialidad de Filología Moderna (inglés) en la Universidad de Murcia en 1992. Tras trabajar como profesora de inglés en la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas durante dos años, se incorporó al Departamento de Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Murcia en 1996. En 2002 22

obtuvo el título de Doctora y, desde 2004, es profesora titular en el mismo departamento, donde investiga e imparte docencia en las áreas de Lengua Inglesa, Inglés Académico y Fraseología. English Florentina Mena Martínez received her BA Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Murcia in 1992. MONROY CASAS, RAFAEL Español Soy licenciado en Filosofía y Letras (Inglés y Francés) por la Universidad de Valencia (1971). Mi tesis de licenciatura versó sobre el teatro de Arnold Wesker. En 1973, becado por la UNESCO, me trasladé al Departamento de Lingüística de la Universidad de Reading (UK) donde, durante tres años, obtuve un M.A. en Lingüística y realicé investigación bajo la supervisión de Peter Roach, David Crystal y A. C. Gimson (UCL) doctorándome en Murcia en 1976. En 1978 obtuve una plaza como Titular Adjunto en esta universidad, creando el Departamento de Filología Inglesa. Cuatro años más tarde (1982), obtuve la cátedra de Filología Inglesa en Murcia, lugar donde he venido impartiendo docencia hasta el momento actual. He sido director del departamento durante los primeros once años. Primer Presidente y co-fundador de la Asociación Española de Lingüística Aplicada (AEsLA). Miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Asociación Internacional de Lingüística Aplicada (AILA). Miembro del Comité Internacional de AILA. English I graduated in Philosophy and Letters (English and French) from the University of Valencia (1971). Shortly afterwards, I presented my graduate thesis on Arnold Wesker’s theatre. In 1973, sponsored by a Unesco grant, I moved to the Department of Linguistics at Reading University (U.K.) where I spent three years, obtained an M.A. in Linguistics and carried out research under the supervision of Peter Roach, David Crystal (Reading) and A. C. Gimson (UCL, London), receiving my PhD in Murcia University (1976). In 1982 I was appointed professor to the Chair of English Language and Linguistics, setting up the new Department of English at this university where I am currently working.. I have been Head of Department during the first eleven years. First President and cofounder of the Spanish Association of Applied Linguistics (AESLA). Member of the Executive Board of the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA). Member of the International Committee of AILA. Murcia first coordinator of the Erasmus / Socrates between our department and the universities of Essex, Lille, Staffordshire, Lyon III, Nanterre, Free University of Berlin, Kiel, Trier, Rostock, John Moores (Liverpool) and University College Dublin. I also have a long-standing interest in stylistics and contrastive rhetoric as well as in approaches to student learning (two government-funded research projects). MURPHY, LIZ Español Liz Murphy se licenció en Filología Francesa en 1972 en el King’s College de la Universidad de Londres, cursando posteriormente el PGCE en Lenguas Modernas, esta vez en el Institute of Education. Después de enseñar en Gran Bretaña y España fue profesora en el Colegio bilingüe del Consejo Británico en Madrid hasta 1986, cuando cursó un MA en Lingüística Aplicada en el Institute of Education de Londres. Desde entonces trabaja en la Universidad de Murcia donde ha impartido cursos de Lengua Inglesa, Lingüística Aplicada, Didáctica, Técnicas de Evaluación, y Escritura en Inglés para fines académicos. A lo largo de los años ha participado también en la gestión de la universidad como tutora de intercambio Erasmus, coordinadora de la docencia de Lengua Instrumental, coordinadora y examinadora de los exámenes de Cambridge, miembro del Claustro Universitario y Presidenta de la Comisión General de Becas. De 2006-2010 fue miembro elegido de la Junta de Personal Docente e Investigadora de la Universidad de Murcia, en representación de los profesores funcionarios. Durante muchos años se dedicó a impartir cursos de formación permanente para profesores de inglés en los CPRs de la Región Murciana y, más recientemente, ha dirigido y evaluado Trabajos Fin de Master (TFM) del nuevo Master en Educación Secundaria. Liz ha trabajado como investigadora en varios proyectos de investigación (con fondos del MEC, la Fundación Seneca y MICINN) sobre los procesos de escritura en lengua extranjera, publicando -junto con Rosa Manchón y Julio Roca de Larios- artículos en revistas como el Journal of Second Language Writing, Language Learning, Learning and Instruction, Modern Language Journal y el International Journal of English Studies (IJES) además de capítulos en varios libros sobre la escritura en L2 tanto en España como en el extranjero. En 2010 fue co-editora de un volumen especial de IJES sobre Feedback in Second Language Writing con Julio Roca de Larios y organizó en Murcia -junto con Manchón y Roca- el Symposium on Second Language Writing 2010. English Liz Murphy did her BA Hons in French at King’s College, University of London in 1972 followed by a PGCE in Modern Languages at the University of London Institute of Education. After teaching in secondary schools in London and language schools in Spain, she worked for the British Council in their immersion school in Madrid before taking an MA in Applied Linguistics, again at the London Institute of Education. Since 1986 she has been at Murcia University where she has taught courses in English Language, Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching Theory and Methodology, Language Testing, and Academic Writing. Other duties over the years have involved being an Erasmus tutor, language coordinator, Cambridge examinations coordinator and examiner, member of the Claustro and President of the University General Grants Committee. From 2006-2010 she served as an elected member of the Junta de Personal Docente e Investigador representing the tenured teaching and research staff. She has also been active in in-service training for language teachers at Teacher Centres all over the Murcia Region and has supervised dissertations for the new MA in Secondary Education as well as serving on numerous MA dissertation panels. Liz has worked on various funded research projects (MEC, Seneca, MICINN) on Second Language Writing together with Rosa Manchón and Julio Roca de Larios and they have contributed articles to the Journal of Second Language Writing, Language Learning, Learning and Instruction, the Modern Language Journal and International Journal of English Studies as well as chapters in various books on writing, both in Spain and internationally. In 2010 she co-edited a special number of the IJES on Feedback in Second Language Writing with Julio Roca de Larios and, together with Manchón and Roca, hosted in Murcia the first Symposium on Second Language Writing to be held in Europe. Her research interests focus on cognitive processes in L2 writing as well as peer and teacher feedback.

PÉREZ-PAREDES, PASCUAL Español Pascual Pérez-Paredes completó su doctorado en Lingüística Aplicada en 1999, tras una estancia de investigación en la Universidad de Texas en Austin, Estados Unidos. En la actualidad, sus principales intereses son la investigación cuantitativa de la variación de registro, los lenguajes de especialidad, la recopilación de corpus lingüísticos y su uso en diversos ámbitos del estudio de la lingüística aplicada. El Profesor Pérez-Paredes ha sido coordinador de una iniciativa MINERVA financiada por la Comisión Europea: SACODEYL (http://www.um.es/sacodeyl) y en la actualidad coordinada en España Corpora for Content Language Integrated Learning, un proyecto multinacional e interdisciplinar encaminado a explotar los recursos lingüísticos que ofrecen los corpus para el aprendizaje y la enseñanza de idiomas en contextos profesionales (http://www.um.es/backbone). También está involucrado en proyectos internacionales basada en corpus como LINDSEI (Louvain International Database of Spoken English Interlanguage) y The International Corpus of Crosslinguistic Interlanguage (ICCI). Desde 1994, el Profesor Pérez-Paredes es Traductor Oficial/Intérprete Jurado para la lengua inglesa, nombrado por el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores. Fue secretario Académico del Máster de Traducción de la Universidad de Murcia y docente de la asignatura Inglés Jurídico durante sus cuatro ediciones, de 2000 a 2005. English Pascual Pérez-Paredes completed his PhD in Applied Linguistics in 1999 after a research stay at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. Currently, his main research interests are the quantitative variation of register, the analysis of specialized languages, the compilation of language corpora and their use in various fields of study within the realm of applied linguistics.

Pascual Pérez-Paredes has been the coordinator of a MINERVA initiative funded by the European Commission: SACODEYL (http://www.um.es/sacodeyl) and currently coordinates in Spain Corpora for Content Language Integrated Learning, a multinational and interdisciplinary effort that aims to exploit the resources offered by corpora in professional contexts (http://www.um.es/backbone). Among other contributions to the field of applied linguistics, this initiative presents the first multimodal corpus of English as a Lingua Franca collected in the European Union. In this field, Dr. Pérez-Paredes and his team have developed computational tools for linguistic corpus processing, among which we can highlight desktop and collaborative annotation server-sided services. He is involved in international projects based on corpus such as LINDSEI (Louvain International Database of Spoken Engish Interlanguage) and The International Corpus of Crosslinguistic Interlanguage (ICCI). Some of his most recent publications include the development of annotation solutions, RECALL Journal, Cambridge University Press, the study of the interaction between user and Corpus-based language resources, CALL Journal, Taylor Francis, or the co-edition of Computer-Aided Software analysis of language, together with Mike Scott and Purificaciçon Sanchez. He has published chapters in relevant international publishers in the field of corpus linguistics such as John Benjamins, Rodopi, Equinox and Peter Lang. He has been a plenary speaker at several international conferences and has conducted workshops on corpus linguistics in a number of them, including conferences in the U.S. and Japan. During the 2009-2010 academic year he conducted a research stay at the Department of English at Northern Arizona University with Professors Douglas Biber and Randi Reppen, with funding from the National Program of Human Resources Mobility Research, National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2008-2011, Salvador de Madariaga Programme for senior researchers. Since 1994, Pascual Pérez-Paredes has been an official translator / Court interpreter appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was the secretary of the Master’s Course in Translation at the University of Murcia and teacher of Legal English during four editions, from 2000 to 2005. English Ángel-Luis Pujante is Professor of English at the University of Murcia, where he has been teaching English Literature since 1981. He graduated in English and German at the University of Barcelona and read his doctoral thesis at the University of Salamanca. REA RIZZO, CAMINO Español Soy Licenciada en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia (1994-1999) y Doctorada en el 2008 por la misma institución con la tesis “El inglés de las telecomunicaciones: estudio léxico basado en un corpus específico”. En el último curso de licenciatura fui contratada como profesora ayudante de español como lengua extranjera en la Universidad de Portsmouth (UK). Desde 1999 trabajo como profesora y traductora en el Servicio de Idiomas de la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, y en el 2007 me incorporé al Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Murcia como profesora asociada. Mi docencia e investigación se centran en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras, inglés con fines específicos (ESP) y lingüística del corpus. Como resultado de mi actividad investigadora, he compilado un corpus especializado del inglés de la ingeniería de telecomunicaciones (5,5 millones de palabras). English I graduated in English Studies at the University of Murcia (1994-1999) and obtained my doctoral degree in 2008 with the thesis entitled: “El inglés de las telecomunicaciones: estudio léxico basado en un corpus específico”. In 1999 I joined the Language Center of the Technical University of Cartagena. Since then, I have been teaching English both for general and specific purposes (English for Telecommunication Engineering, Naval Engineering, Tourism, and Academic purposes). I have also taught Spanish as a foreign language in Cartagena and at the University of Portsmouth. Besides, my duties at the Language Centre involve translating documents, especially research papers, from the different Technical Schools. In 2007 I joined the English Department of the University of Murcia as an adjunct teacher. The main focus of my research is corpus-driven analysis of specialized languages. My research activity has given rise to a corpus specialized in Telecommunication Engineering (5.5 million words).

Español Cursó sus estudios de licenciatura y doctorado en la Universidad de Barcelona, en la especialidad de Filología Moderna (inglés y alemán). También cursó estudios de Germanística en la Universidad de München y los correspondientes al MS in Linguistics en la Universidad de Georgetown, Washington DC. Fue Director de la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Barcelona y profesor de la Universidad de Barcelona y Autónoma de Barcelona. Posteriormente accedió a Cátedra en la Universidad de Murcia, Departamento de Filología Inglesa, centro en el cual sigue impartiendo su docencia. Cuenta con varias estancias de investigación en centros extranjeros (Inglaterra, Estados Unidos y Canadá) y ha impartido conferencias en numerosos países y universidades. Su docencia y trabajo investigador se han centrado en la Enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas y en los procesos cognitivos subyacentes, lexicología, lexicografía monolingüe y bilingüe (inglés-español) y lingüística del corpus (diseño y recopilación de corpus y desambiguación automática de significados). His research and teaching have centred on foreign language teaching and learning, cognitive processes in language learning, lexicology, monolingual and bilingual (English-Spanish) lexicography and corpus linguistics (corpus design and compilation and automatic disambiguation of meanings).

SÁNCHEZ HERNÁNDEZ, PURIFICACIÓN Español Purificación Sánchez estudió Filología Moderna (Inglés y Aleman) en la Universidad de Salamanca. Trabajó como traductora para el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). En 1995 fue becario de la Fundación Shakespeare en Stradford32

English Purificación Sánchez studied Modern Languages (English and German) at the University of Salamanca and joined the English Department at the University of Murcia in 1997 where she presented her doctoral dissertation on the translation of scenic directions of Shakespeare’s plays. She was previously a translator working for the CSIC (Spanish Council of Research). She got a grant in 1995 from the Shakespeare Trust in Stradford-upon-Avon and was a visiting professor at the University of Calgary in Canada in 2001. VALENZUELA, JAVIER Español Javier Valenzuela Manzanares estudió Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Murcia (1989). Tras disfrutar de una beca de investigación FPU, durante la cual realizó estancias en las universidades de California at Berkeley y State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, entró a formar parte del Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Murcia en 1995. En la actualidad enseña las asignaturas de “Semántica Inglesa” y “Estudio Contrastivo Inglés-Español”. English Javier Valenzuela Manzanares majored in English Studies at the University of Murcia (1989). In 1991 he become a research assistant in Spanish FPU program and attended the Universities of California at Berkeley and State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo as a visiting scholar. In 1995, he became a member of the Departament of English Philology of the University of Murcia, where he currently teaches “English Semantics” and “English-Spanish Contrastive Study”. VÁZQUEZ GONZÁLEZ, NILA English Nila Vazquez studied English Philology at the University of Santiago de Compostela and Teaching, Specialising in Foreign Languages, at the University of Vigo. She has been a lecturer of Historical Linguistics at the University of Murcia since 2002. She was previously a lecturer of English Language at the University of Alcala de Henares (19992002). She has published mostly on The Canterbury Tales and on New Techniques on Textual Editing. She is involved in the Reasearch Project ‘Variation and Linguistic Change’ (University of Santiago de Compostela) and in the ‘Canterbury Tales Project’ (Universities of Birmingham, De Montfort, Sheffield, Oxford et al.) Her main current areas of writing and research are Historical Linguistics, The Tale of Gamelyn, Textual Scholarship and Electronic Editing. She has edited, together with J. Camilo Conde, two volumes about Medieval Studies and Editing Middle English Texts.

VILAR, MAR English Mar Vilar García is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Murcia. She took her degree in Filología Inglesa in 1994, followed by a PhD in 1999. She has been teaching the 1st year English Language course and the 2nd year Speaking/Public Speaking course since 1996. She has published widely about the teaching of the Spanish language in the United States. Publications include her book El español, segunda lengua en los Estados Unidos (Murcia: Servicio de Publicaciones, 2003, 2º ed.). Currently her scholarly interests also focus on the field of Humanistic and Affective Approaches to Foreign Language Teaching and Learning.

WALTON, DAVID Español El doctor David Walton consiguió la licenciatura en Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Gales en 1985, y el Máster de Filolofía (M.Phil.) en la Universidad de Oxford en 1987. En 1988 obtuvo el Certificate of Education en la Universidad de Roehampton (Londres) y en el mismo año un título de TEFL de la Universidad de Aston en Birmingham. Realizó el doctorado en la Universidad de Murcia en 1992. Su carrera docente empezó en la educación superior británica y en 1989 fue contratado por la Universidad de Murcia. A partir de 2001 es profesor titular de esta Universidad en el área de Filología y Cultura y ha promocionado este área en España durante los últimos 36

quince años. Es miembro fundador del grupo Culture and Power que ha organizado congresos anuales en España y Portugal desde 1995 y ha contribuido a la mayor parte de las publicaciones de estos congresos. Es miembro fundador también de la Iberian Association for Cultural Studies y actualmente es Presidente de esta asociación. Ha participado junto al Profesor Rafael Monroy en la coordinación de una serie de congresos sobre culturas de habla inglesa, y con la Doctora Dagmar Scheu en la organización de la International Conference on Unofficial Knowledges celebrada en la Universidad de Murcia en 2000. Además de su docencia para la licenciatura en Filología Inglesa ha impartido cursos de doctorado sobre la construcción de identidad nacional en el cine británico y clases de máster sobre traducción audiovisual y estudios culturales y, actualmente, da clases en el máster de la literatura comparada en la Facultad de Letras de la Universidad de Murcia, mientras colabora con cursos de máster en las universidades de Castilla la Mancha y Tarragona. Ha realizado numerosas publicaciones en libros y revistas que reflejan sus intereses de investigación, que incluyen teoría literaria y cultural, estudios culturales, cultura popular, cultura visual y teorías postmodernas de cultura. English David Walton was awarded a degree in English Literature by the University of Wales in 1985, a master of philosophy (M.Phil) by the University of Oxford in 1987, a Certificate in Education by the University of Roehamption in 1988, and, in the same year, a TEFL qualification at the University of Aston in Birmingham). He was awarded his doctorate in 1992 by the University of Murcia. He began his teaching career in further education in Britain before being contracted as an associate lecturer in the English Department of the University of Murcia in 1989. He became Senior Lecturer in the area of Cultural Studies in 2001and has promoted the area in Spain for more than fifteen years. He is one of the founder members of the Culture and Power group which has organized annual conferences in Spain and Portugal every year since 1995 and has contributed to most of of the publications to come out of these conferences. He was a founder member of the Iberian Association for Cultural Studies, and is currently its President. He has coorganized, with Prof. Rafael Monroy, a series of mini conferences on English-speaking cultures and organized, together with Dr. Dagmar Scheu, the International Conference on Unofficial Knowledges held at the Universidad de Murcia in 2000. Apart from his undergraduate teaching, he has taught doctorate courses on the construction of national identity and audiovisual culture and has taught on a variety of masters courses including translation and interpretation and cultural studies. In this context he currently teaches postmodern cultures on the Comparative Literature masters taught at the University of Murcia while collaborating with masters courses taught in the Universities of La Mancha and Tarragona. He has given many conference papers and has published widely; his publications reflecting his research interests which include literary and cultural theory, cultural studies, popular culture, visual culture and postmodern theories of culture. Among his books are Culture and Power: Ac(unofficial)knowledging cultural Studies in Spain (Peter Lang, 2002) and Introducing Cultural Studies: Learning Through Practice (Sage, 2008).
