If you fold a thousand cranes, your wish will come true. Strings of a thousand cranes are frequently given to newlyweds as a wish for happiness and prosperity.

In 1945, after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a little girl named Sadako developed radiation sickness. When she was 11, she began to fold 1,000 cranes; her wish was simply to get well. She never completed her project; at crane number 647, she died. Today, near Ground Zero in Hiroshima, a statue of Sadako holds aloft one of the origami cranes that have come to symbolize mankind’s enduring hope. The wish for this tree is to find a cure for cancer. The tree is easy to maintain and will be a beautiful addition to any home.
