Cristo Rey – Modelo de Servicio Estimados Hermanos y Amigos de San Juan Bautista, Hoy con la Fiesta de Cristo Rey, las Escrituras nos recuerdan el tipo de Rey que tenemos y la necesidad de imitarlo. ¿Quién entrará en el Reino de Dios? Como Jesús dijo: ...el rey dirá a los de su derecha: Venid, benditos de mi Padre, tomad posesión del reino preparado para vosotros desde el principio del mundo. Porque tuve hambre y me disteis de comer …

La entrada al Reino de Dios depende de la magnitud en que hemos amado y cuidado a los demás, incluso a nuestros enemigos. Si excluimos a otros de nuestro cuidado y preocupación, así mismo seremos excluidos del cuidado y el Reino de Dios: Luego dirá a los de la izquierda: Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles. Porque tuve hambre y no me disteis de comer,... En realidad, la opción es nuestra. Para proclamar verdaderamente que Cristo es nuestro Rey y Señor, significa que lo aceptamos a Él y estamos de acuerdo con sus mandatos. Corresponsabilidad es la espiritualidad que nos ayuda a lograrlo. Consagrando y comprometiendo el 10% de las bendiciones y regalos que el Señor nos da, expresamos nuestra gratitud y agradecimiento. ¡Qué apropiado que hagamos este compromiso de oración justamente antes del Día de Acción de Gracias. Al comprometernos este fin de semana a la obra de Cristo Rey y la parroquia de San Juan Bautista, nos estamos comprometiendo nuevamente a preparar el camino para la venida del Señor. A los necesitados, ofrecemos canastas de compra. A los que necesitan ayuda financiera, le ayudamos en sus necesidades mas inmediatas. A los que están escasos de ropa, les proveemos ropa a bajo costo. A los afligidos, les ofrecemos un oído que escucha. A los emigrantes en esta tierra extranjera, le ofrecemos hospitalidad espiritual. A nuestros niños, les ofrecemos ayuda a través del Programa Post-Escolar y del Programa Time-Release. A los que no saben ingles, les asistimos con la comunicación. ¿Quién es este “Nosotros,” que respondemos a las necesidades de los más pobres? “Nosotros” somos la gente de San Juan Bautista, cada uno de nosotros, que a través de nuestra generosidad en la colecta semanal y uso generoso de nuestro tiempo y talentos ayudamos a los demás, servimos a Cristo en los más necesitados que nos rodean. Pero podemos hacer mucho más. Muchos feligreses no participan en nada. Usted podría ayudarnos a llevar la Palabra de Dios a otros feligreses y extranjeros. Solo de esta manera, San Juan Bautista será más eficaz para responder a las necesidades de Cristo en lo más mínimo de estos hermanos y hermanas. Christ the King–Model of Service Dear People and Friends of San Juan Bautista, With today’s Feast of Christ the King, our Scriptures remind us of the type of King we have and the necessity to imitate him. Who is it that will enter the Kingdom of God? As Jesus explained: . . .the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food. . .

Entrance into God’s Kingdom depends upon the extent to which we have loved and cared for others, including our enemies. If we exclude others from our care and concern, so shall we be excluded from God’s care and kingdom: Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food,... In reality, the choice is ours. To proclaim truly that Christ is our King and Lord means that we accept Him and His ways over our own. Stewardship is the spirituality that helps us accomplish this. By dedicating and committing to the Lord 10 % of all of the Lord’s blessings and gifts to us, we express our gratitude and thankfulness. How appropriate we make this prayerful commitment right before Thanksgiving Day. As we pledge ourselves this weekend to the work of Christ the King and the parish of San Juan Bautista, we rededicate ourselves to preparing the way for the Lord when he comes. For the hungry, we offer emergency food baskets. For the financially desperate, we assist with making ends meet. For the nearly naked, we provide affordable clothing. For the grieving, we provide a listening ear. For the stranger in this foreign land, we provide a hospitable, spiritual home. For our children, we offer extra help through our After-School program and Time-Release catechism. For those trapped by not knowing English, we assist with communications. Who is this “We,” who responds to these needs of the least among us? The “We” is the people of San Juan Bautista, each one of us who, through our generous, weekly gift in the collection and our generous use of time and abilities for others, serve Christ in those in need around us. But we can do so much more. Many parishioners participate in nothing. Won’t you help us reach out more to our fellow parishioners and strangers alike. Only in this way, will San Juan Bautista be even more effective in responding to the needs of Christ in the least of these brothers and sisters? In the inserts in this bulletin, you will find a multitude of opportunities in which to offer your particular talents. Come, let us labor in the Lord’s vineyard together.

The LCHS Fine and Performing Arts Department will also be hosting a Breakfast with Santa Event on Saturday December 13th in the LCHS cafeteria. The event includes a buffet style breakfast, musical performances by LCHS students and faculty, a special message from Santa and a religious activity hosted by the Campus Ministry Department. Every child receives a special gift bag. Flyers and registration details are located in the rear of the church. The Lancaster Catholic High School Respect Life Club recently launched their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive which benefits dozens of families in the Lancaster County community. The students are currently gathering nonperishable Thanksgiving foods, supermarket gift cards, supermarket turkey coupons and monetary donations to create food baskets to deliver to local parishes who have identified families in need and to replenish the shelves of parish food banks. PREPARACIÓN BAUTISMAL 2 Sesiones Requeridas Antes de que un bebé o un niño menor de 7 años pueda ser bautizado, los padres deben asistir a la Sesión-I para Padres, que se lleva a cabo el 2do Sábado de cada mes a las 9:00 AM. Luego, y solo después de haber asistido a la primera clase, podrán asistir junto con los padrinos a la Sesión II para Padres y Padrinos. Los padres que estén esperando bebes pueden tomar la clase antes de que nazca el bebé. Se requiere registración por adelantado, pase por la oficina parroquial. La próxima clase para padres es el 13 de Diciembre. Baptismal Preparation – 2 Sessions required Before an infant or a child under 7 years of age can be baptized, the parents must attend the Parents’ Class for Baptism, which is held the 2nd Saturday of each month @ 9:00AM. Then, and only then, the parents with the godparents attend Baptism Preparation Session I on the 4th Sat. of the month @ 9:00AM. Parents must register at the parish office.
