Cristo Nuestro Rey Estimados Hermanos y Amigos de San Juan Bautista, Al concluir otro año litúrgico, la fiesta de Cristo Rey vuelve a concentrar nuestra atención en el Poder de Dios y nuestra respuesta a El. En el Credo de Nicea, profesamos que Dios es omnipotente, “Creemos en un solo Dios, Padre Todopoderoso”. De hecho, las Sagradas Escrituras en todo momento se refieren al Señor como el Todopoderoso y Omnipotente: 





Tú siempre puedes utilizar tu poder. ¿Quién va a resistir la fuerza de tu brazo? El mundo entero es ante ti como un gramo en la balanza, como gota de rocío matutino sobre la tierra. (Sabiduría 11:21-22) Aquel día salvó Yahvé a Israel del poder de los egipcios; e Israel vio a los egipcios muertos a orillas del mar. Al comprobar los israelitas la mano poderosa que Yahvé había desplegado contra los egipcios, temieron a Yahvé y creyeron en Yahvé y en Moisés, su siervo. Entonces Moisés y los israelitas cantaron este cántico a Yahvé: “Canto a Yahvé, esplendorosa es su gloria, caballo y jinete arrojó en el mar. Tu diestra, Yahvé, impresionante por su esplendor, tu diestra, Yahvé, aplasta al enemigo. (Éxodo 14:30-31,15:1, 6) Cantaré a mi Dios un cantar nuevo: “¡Tú eres grande, Señor, eres glorioso, maravilloso, admirable en poder e insuperable!” Pues los montes, desde sus cimientos, serán sacudidos con las aguas; las rocas en tu presencia se fundirán como cera; pero con aquellos que te temen, te muestras tu siempre propicio. (Judith 16:13,15).

Si reconocemos el poder absoluto de Dios, sólo puede haber una respuesta: Obediencia. Cuando entendemos que el poder del SEÑOR es ejercido extraordinariamente a través de Jesucristo nuestro Señor crucificado y resucitado, entonces, una opinión debe dominar todas las demás: Agradecimiento. Si nuestro grito “¡Viva Cristo Rey! Que Viva!”, este tiene que ser más que palabras, debemos someternos a la majestad de Cristo por medio de la obediencia y presentarle cada día como un sacrificio vivo de alabanza a Dios por la forma en que vivimos. La Corresponsabilidad es la forma sólida y práctica en la cual dirigimos nuestra vida obedeciendo y demostrando una verdadera gratitud y generosidad a Dios. La actitud de corresponsabilidad reconoce que todo es una bendición de Dios—Tiempo, Talento, Tesoro, Oración— han de ser bien utilizados y compartidos, porque no son MIOS, sino que son regalos que me han confiado para edificar el Reino de Dios y servir a nuestro rey. Gracias a todos los que han hecho su compromiso financiero y generoso con el Señor por medio de nuestra campaña de Corresponsabilidad. As we conclude another liturgical year, today’s Feast of Christ the King refocuses our attention on the Power of God and our response to it. In the Nicene Creed, we profess that God is omnipotent; “We believe in one God, the Father Almighty.” In fact, the Scriptures are filled with references to the LORD as the Almighty and All-powerful One: 

For with you great strength abides always; who can resist the might of your arm? Indeed, before you the whole universe is as a grain from a balance, or a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth. (Wisdom 11:21-22)  When Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the seashore and beheld the great power that the LORD had shown against the Egyptians, they feared the LORD. Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea. Your right hand, O LORD, magnificent in power, your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy. (Exodus 14:30-31,15:1, 6)  O Lord, great are you and glorious, wonderful in power and unsurpassable. The mountains to their bases, and the seas, are shaken; the rocks, like wax, melt before your glance (Judith 16:13,15)

If we acknowledge the absolute power of God, there can only be one response: Obedience. When we understand that the LORD’s power is exercised most wondrously through our crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ, then one attitude must dominate all others: Thankfulness. If our shouts of “Viva Cristo Rey! Que Viva!” are to be more than mere words, we must submit ourselves to the kingship of Christ through obedience and present each day as a living sacrifice of thanksgiving to God by the way we live. Stewardship is the concrete, practical way we direct our lives by obedience and demonstrate true thankfulness and generosity to God. A stewardship attitude acknowledges everything as a blessing from God—Time, Talent, Treasure, Prayer—to be used well and shared, because they are not MINE, but gifts entrusted to me to build up God’s kingdom and to serve our king. Thank you to all who have made a personal and generous financial commitment to the Lord through our Stewardship campaign. If your family did not make a commitment, you can fill out the pledge form and place it in the collection next Sunday.
