If you are interested in becoming Catholic or need to complete your sacraments, we will be registering Adults (18 yrs. of age and out of High School) for a program called RCIA-Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults at the Church Office Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The program of classes is a nine-month journey, which begins on Aug.31, 2011 for English speakers and ends at the Solemn Vigil for Easter on April 8, 2012. Classes meet weekly from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM in Sacred Heart Chapel. The Spanish program begins Sept.11, 2011 and ends at the Solemn Vigil for Easter on April 8, 2012. The Spanish classes meet weekly on Sundays from 2:45 PM until 4:15 PM in Rooms 1A & B in the School Building. Please begin looking for your birth certificate and your Baptismal certificate. Bring these with you when you register. If you can’t find them, register anyway and we can help you get your certificates later. There is a fee of $35 for the books and Bible we use.

Las Colectas del día 30 y 31 de Julio MODESTY IN DRESS AT MASS - As summer and warm weather are upon us, I would just like to give a gentle reminder to us all to examine the way we dress for Sunday Mass. There is nothing more important than the worship we give to God each week. We believe that we encounter the Living God in the Holy Sacrifice or the Mass. It is at Church that we meet the Divine. Going to Mass on Sunday or Saturday evening is not the same as going to a sports event or a visit to the store. The respect we show to our gracious God and to each other when we worship is somewhat signaled by the way we dress. Please take time to think about how you will dress for Mass. Who are we going to meet at this and every Mass? It is none other than the Lord of our inner lives. It is a sign of respect for our God and our fellow Mass-goers to dress appropriately. MODESTIA EN EL VESTIDO EN LA MISA - Mientras que el verano y el clima caliente están sobre nosotros, me gustaría dar un recordatorio para todos nosotros para examinar la forma de vestir para la misa dominical. Music Minister volunteer We are currently looking for a music minister to share their time, talent, and treasure by assisting with various programs, retreats, renewals, etc. throughout the school year in our Religious Education program. The person who will coordinate this ministry will be responsible for planning and coordinating music for retreats (students and teachers), monthly praise and worship for middle and high school students, day of reflections, etc. Experience in liturgy is preferred. This person must know how to play one or more instruments; such as, guitar and/or piano. If you are interested and would like to schedule a meeting to discuss this further, please contact the Office of Religious Education at 444-4664 and ask for Erik Diaz. • • • RESPETO program is still looking for adult volunteers The San Jose Religious Education, Youth Ministry Program has a Hispanic Youth Leadership Program entitled “RESPETO”. RESPETO is a year-long formation process offering sessions that foster spiritual growth and skills for Latino youth to take an active role in the life and mission of the Church. This culturally vibrant program is especially geared toward Mexican American youth (ages 14-18). The coordinators of RESPETO are currently searching for two (2) or more adult volunteers who would like to be a part of a team of adults who will lead this program. If you are a person with effective leadership skills and can relate well with youth, as well as other adults. We are looking for a person who is knowledgeable about our MexicanAmerican Culture and our Catholic faith. If you feel God’s call to be a part of this team or know of someone whom you believe is a good candidate, please contact the Religious Education Office at 444-4664.

TALLER BÁSICO de EIM

El Taller de 3 horas sobre Ética e Integridad en el Ministerio (EIM por sus siglas en inglés) acerca del abuso sexual infantil (llamado anteriormente “Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios”), se llevará a cabo el Sábado, 27 de Agosto a las 9am hasta 12pm en el Salón Parroquial. Este taller es parte de las normas diocesanas sobre Ética e Integridad en el Ministerio que se hicieron vigentes en enero del 2002 y fueron revisadas en agosto del 2008.
