LOCK JAW DEVICE Consists of two essential brackets, the plate with two holes display as Fig.1 and the anchor clamp display as Fig.2 this bracket is used to hold the storm panel when is time boarding-Up the window. The plate with two holes should be installed permanently on the outer wall of the house at the edge of the window, to install this plate requires the tool mentioned above and this procedure is performed only once, and if you acquired the professional installation you will not have to perform this step.

These permanent plates should be placed, two at each end of the window, one at the top and one on the bottom as can be observed in Fig.6.

To determine at what distance should be placed it is recommended that the distance marked with the arrow in Fig.5 does not exceed a 4 ft. of distance, not allowing more than one foot away from the top and one foot away from the bottom of the window.

Step #1 Place the plates at half inch of distance from the edge of the window in a vertical position as shown in Fig.4, use the level to line up the plate. If this device is being installed in a brick wall, it is important not to place the plate in the same brick. Also, do not drill into the cement between each brick, you should always use the brick surface and try not to drill too close to the edge of the brick. Step #2 with your pencil mark the holes on the wall. Step #3 Using the appropriate drill proceed to drill for about 4 inches deep. Step #4 Place the long blue screws included on this packages into the plate and proceed to install the screws on the wall using the drill with the #3 Phillips drive, and finally using the super glue attach the screw cap. In this way the plate is permanently installed, repeat the same procedures on the other 3 plates.

Note: the drill bit must be the type recommended for the construction of the house. Choosing the type of storm panel, as we know, with this device you can choose among several types of storm panels, these storm panels may be formed of any strong continuous sheet flat material, such as metal sheet, fiberglass, plastic composite material and most typical used Plywood. It is highly recommended that if you are going to use some kind of storm panels different from those mentioned above, please notify your LOCK JAW consultant to verify that this device can be adjusted to the type of storm panel that tries to use, if you are going to use Plywood is recommended not to use less than 1/2 inch thick. It is recommended to prepare the storm panels to cover the windows ahead of time so you can be prepared for the storm. Place your tape measure from the outside of the plate mounted to the wall and measure to the outside of the plate on the other end of the window as shown in Fig.6 and the length of the storm panel must cover from top to bottom, it is recommended to measure an inch or two past the upper and lower part of the window. To cover your windows during the storm, use the anchor clamp that holds the storm panel, the one displays on Fig.2 Step #1 Open the thumb screw from the anchor clamp. Step #2 Place the storm panel in front of the window Step #3 Sliding the anchor clamp, in the space between the wall and the plate previously installed to the wall, as shown in Fig.9. Step #4 Tighten the thumb screw as hard as possible until it meets the storm panel. Step #5 to secure the thumb screw just adjust the nuts located in the thumb screw. To Release: Loosen the storm panel to keep them, start by loosening the two nuts that secure the thumb screw to release it, and proceed to drop the storm panel by loosening the thumb screw while pressing. The plate installed to the wall can be painted the color of brick or color of the house so that it blends in with the house and at the same time to protect this part of the LOCK JAW.

LOCK JAW DEVICE esta compuesto de dos piezas importantes, la placa con los dos orificios marcada como la Fig.1 y la prensa marcada como la Fig.2, esta pieza es la que sostiene el panel sobre la ventana. La placa con los dos orificios se deberá instalar permanentemente sobre la pared exterior de la casa a la orilla de la ventana. Para instalar esta pieza se requiere de la herramienta mencionada anteriormente y este procedimiento solo se efectúa una sola vez, y si usted adquirió la instalación profesional no tendrá quen realizar este paso.

Estas placas se deben instalar 2 en cada extremo de la ventana una en la parte superior y la otra en la parte inferior como indican las flechas en la Fig. 6.

Para determinar a que distancia se deberán colocar las placas se recomienda que la distancia no sobrepase 4 pies, esto se puede observar en la Fig.5, se puede dejar 1 pie o menos en la parte de arriba y en la parte de abajo

Paso #1: Coloque la placa a una distancia de media pulgadas a partir de la orilla de la ventana en una posición vertical como indica en la Fig.8 use su nivel para alinear la placa, es importante que los orificios queden dentro de la superficie del ladrillo, no colocar los dos tornillos en un solo ladrillo y procure que queden al centro y no muy cerca de la orilla del ladrillo. Paso #2: Con su lápiz marque los orificios a la pared Paso #3: Utilizando su taladro y la barrena de 3/16 proceda a perforar por aproximadamente 4 pulgada de profundidad Paso #4: Una vez que se perforo coloque la placa con los tornillo largos, use su nivel para verificar que la placa este anivelada, en seguida proceda a instalar los tornillos sobre la pared usando su taladro y la punta de estrella #3 y por ultimo use el pegamento para pegar las cubiertas de los tornillo. Y de esta manera la placa queda instalada permanentemente a la pared.

Note que dependiendo el tipo de construcción del edificio, usted deberá utilizar la barrena recomendada para el tipo de construcción. Seleccione el tipo de panel a usar, como ya sabemos este dispositivo se puede usar en diferente tipos de paneles, estos paneles deberan ser de un material fuerte y de superficies planas como hojas de metal, fibra de vidrio, o plasticos compuestos de un material fuerte y el mas usual Plywood, se recomienda extremadamente que si se va usar un tipo de panel diferente a los mencionados anteriormente por favor contacte a su representante de Lock Jaw para verificar que este dispositivo se puede adaptar al tipo de panel que se desea usar. Si se va a usar Plywood se recomienda que el grueso no sea menor de 1/2 pulgada de grueso. Se recomienda que prepare los paneles para cubrir sus ventanas con tiempo para asi estar preparados en todo momento. Coloque su cinta de medir apartir de la parte exterior de la placa montada a la pared y mida hasta la parte exterior de la placa colocada en el otro extremo de la ventana como indica en la Fig. 6 y el largo del panel deberá cubrir de arriba hacia bajo, es recomienda que pase una o dos pulgada si se tiene el espacio ya sea en la parte superior o inferior de la ventana. Para cubrir sus ventanas durante la tormenta, utilice la prensa que sostiene el panel, la que aparece en la Fig. 2. Paso #1: Abrir los tornillos del la prensa Paso #2: Coloque el panel enfrente de la ventana Paso #3: Deslize la parte posterior de la prensa entre el espacio abierto de la pared y la placa previamente instalada a la pared como muestra la Fig. 9 de manera que se ancle a la placa y sostenga el panel. Paso #4: Ajuste el tornillo de prensa lo mas fuerte posible hasta que presione el panel. Paso #5: Para asegurar el tornillo de prensa solo ajuste las dos tuercas localizadas en el tornillo de prensa. Paso #6 : Aflojando el panel para guardarlas, empiece por aflojar las dos tuercas que aseguran el tornillo de prensa y asi liberar el mismo, de esta manera usted procederá a soltar el panel aflojando el tornillo de prensa. La placa sobre la pared deberá ser pintada del color del ladrillo o color de la casa para que no se distingan y a la misma vez para proteger esta parte de LOCK JAW.
