Registration Today in the Religious Education Office After the 9:30, 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM Masses Two Special Notes for Parents: 1- Do not shortchange your c hildren. They benefit from learning year after year about God’s love. Do not register them only to prepare for Communion and Confirmation. Religious Education is much more. We have programs for children from pre-kindergarten through high school youth ministry. Every year our young people can take advantage of classes to help them understand God’s presence in their lives. 2- Example teaches the best. Parents with elementary age children can all come for 9:30, 11:00 AM and 7:15 PM Masses on Sundays. At those Masses we take the younger children out so they can have their own youth oriented Liturgy of the Word. Then they return for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Parents give great example when they accompany their children to Mass. Good example teaches! More Information Inside this Bulletin

Joining the Catholic Church: The “Original” Church

ur Catholic Church is the original Christian community, our tradition of word, sacrament and church life dating back to the time of the apostles. Other Christian groups which formed since the sixteenth century have lost different elements of the original Christian experience. We are anxious to share with others our Catholic vision of life and faith, ancient yet ever new. RCIA – The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults– is not like going back to school, because RCIA is more of a process of growth than a project in school. RCIA means learning not just with the head, but most importantly with the heart. Our RCIA program, also called the Catechumenate, can benefit: • Those unbaptized persons who want to become Christians. • Those baptized non-Catholic who want to join the Catholic community. • Adult Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation. Call the office 305-2387562 Ext. 102 to speak with F ather Paul for more information.

Vocations: God Calls The Vocation Cup began in our parish in 1999 through the inspiration of Miriam Colombro. It has spread to parishes throughout the Archdiocese, the United States and in foreign countries. Just last December when Archbishop Rivas from St. Lucia was here, he spoke with Miriam and got the basic instructions from her for implementing this program in the Caribbean. Simple enough in its concept– a family or individual take the cup for a week. It reminds them to pray for vocations, for men and women to respond to God’s call to serve the Church. We have seen concrete blessings from these prayers in the different people from our parish community who have responded to the call of Jesus. Deacon Biju Vells is completing his last year of study before his ordination as a priest in May, 2012. Our parishioners George Labelle and José Villena will be ordained deacons in December, 2011. Jim Dugard and Mark Westman have been accepted into the deacon preparation program. Most recently we said good-bye to Daniel Martin, a seminarian for the Archdiocese who spent his Pastoral Year gaining parochial experience here in our parish. Last week we thanked him for all he did and shared with our parish family over the past year. Phillip Tran studies at St. Vincent Seminary and Kevin Garcia at St. John Vianney Seminary. We continue to pray for all of these men and their families as they grow more in becoming the servants of Christ’s Church that Jesus wants them to be. Each one of us has the fundamental vocation to discipleship through baptism. Each of us is called to serve others in the church. We live out this call in our marriages and families, in our community and parish ministries. Another word for the universal call of the baptized to serve is “stewardship”– how we share time, talent and treasure to build up God’s kingdom. Yet within this overall community we still need individuals, men and women, who will give of themselves through ordained ministry or the consecrated life of Religious Orders. These people continually call all of us to be faithful to the Lord. They coordinate ministries and direct programs. Please pray for those already ordained or in Religious Life that they will remain faithful to the Lord. And pray for more people to open their hearts to Christ call to serve. In Christ,
