Judges Education Seminar

We would love for you to attend! The Japanese Chin judge's Seminar at our National Specialty, The Seminar will be held on October 20, 2022 at 8:30am in the Liberty Room at The Roberts Center. The cost will be $25, and we will collect your money when you sign in the morning of the seminar. As you most likely know, you will receive two continuing education credits towards Japanese Chin for attending a seminar at a national, but we are also offering a hands-on workshop later in the day, which if you attend, will give you one additional credit for a total of three. There is no additional cost to attend the hands-on workshop, and it will be held immediately after win photos following the national. Just look for us ringside after show photos. We look forward to seeing you soon! Best regards, Nancy Martin, Carla Jo Ryan and Scott Toney JCCA Education Committee

KEN VALIMAKI Artist Ken Valimaki combined his own art and art education to promote his goal of "keeping the arts alive". Mr. V, as his students called him, taught art in Columbus schools for 34 years and was named "Teacher of the Year" at Columbus. Ken had the opportunity to help students discover art and develop their own creative process. Ken also conducted workshops for children and educators and served as regional director, president and committee member of many art organizations. Ken collaborated with architects and clients to create sculptures for corporate, public, and private commissions. He was the sculptor artist for the "Spirit of Finland" sculpture at the Finnish Heritage Museum in Fairport Harbor. Examples of his work can be seen at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton, Ohio, Ohio Aerospace Institute in Cleveland, Wright State University in Dayton and the National Education Association in Washington, D.C. "As a sculptor".... I have commitment to design that contributes to the identity of buildings and architectural spaces. My sculptures are not limited to my own creation, but are intended to create a dialogue in which both the viewer and artist come away from each piece with a new way of looking at the world. I have had the opportunity to have Show dogs (Afghan Hounds) Shown by a great handler but i know what it involve lots of time and energy to get a dog show ready, Practice, Practice, Practice! Lots of car rides & sacrificing everything to show. It's endless, so thank you for your hard work & effort. Good luck in the future these sculptures are pieces of art to remember this day. One of my goals in my life has been to help keep the arts alive.
