History

Artesanos Gamez surgió en el año de 1994, en la ciudad de Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato, de donde vienen grandes y reconocidos artesanos y ceramistas. En ese año dos hermanos, Cayetano Gamez y Felix Gamez unieron sus esfuerzos e ideas para formar lo que hoy es Artesanos Gamez Inc.

Artesanos Gamez Inc. emerged in 1994 in the town of Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato, where a large number of renowned craftsmen and potters come from. That year two brothers, Cayetano and Felix Gamez joined their efforts and ideas to form what is now called Artesanos Gamez Inc.

Todo se inició formando una pequeña fábrica donde se producian reducidos volúmenes de artesanias, después optaron por abrir una tienda teniendo altas y bajas. Sin embargo tomaron la desición de expandirse abriendo otra sucursal en Tijuana en al año de 1996.

Everything started with a small factory where they produced small volumes of crafts, then they decided to open a shop which had highs and lows and yet they decided to expand by opening another branch in Tijuana in the year 1996.

Viendo la necesidad del norteamericano de comprar artesanía mexicana, se decidió extenderse aún más abriendo otra sucursal en San Isidro, California, Estados Unidos para el año 97, la cual esta abierta al público ya sea para mayoreo o menudeo, siendo hoy en día una empresa productiva con una gran cantidad de clientes leales, tanto en el área de California, como en Arizona, Oregon, Las Vegas Nevada, entre otras. La matriz en Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato es reconocida nacionalmente entre los artesanos ya que cuenta con sus propios hornos con avanzada tecnología para elaborar desde talavera, barro oxidado, muebles rústicos, entre otras artesanías procedentes de diversas ciudades de México. In 1997, seeing American’s need of buying Mexican crafts, the company decided to further expand by opening another branch in San Isidro, California, which is open to the public either for wholesale or retail. Nowadays it is a production company with a lot of loyal customers, not only in California, but also in Arizona, Oregon and Nevada among other states. The matrix in Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato is nationally recognized among artisans mainly because of its advanced technology to produce talavera, clay, rust, rustic furniture, and other crafts from all around Mexico. La marca Moodle surge de la iniciativa de Artesanos Gamez Inc. de diversificar sus líneas tradicionales hacia una línea de productos simples y contemporáneos basados en los colores naturales de la tierra como el barro, arcillas, minerales crudos y vegetación con diferentes texturas táctiles y visuales decorados con elementos característicos de la talavera tradicional.

The Moodle trademark was originated by Artesanos Gamez Inc. in order to diversify their traditional lines into a single product line based on contemporary and natural earth colors such as mud, clay, raw minerals and vegetation with different visual and tactile textures decorated with characteristic elements of traditional talavera.

Historia y Elaboración / History and Elaboration

Decorados realizados totalmente a mano alzada por los artesanos de la región quienes heredan la técnica por generaciones haciendo a la pieza única, lo que les imprime su sello distintivo y nos otorga una variedad de opciones muy amplia. Dichos decorados se basan en la síntesis de los elementos gráficos de la Talavera, en las piezas por medio de la abstracción de estos elementos y en otras por la reducción de los gráficos y aplicándolos en áreas determinadas de la pieza aportándole equilibrio visual. Estas variables de color y decorado, podrán ser opcionales según el gusto personal de los usuarios pudiendo hacer sus propias mezclas.

These handmade peaces are entirely decorated by regional artisans who inherited the technique of working on a single piece from past generations, which constitutes their distinctive stamp and gives us a wide variety of choices. Designs based on a synthesis of the graphic elements of the talavera through abstraction, reduction and graphics application in certain areas of the piece provides visual balance. These color and design variables may be optional depending on the client’s personal taste, who can create his own blends.
