Getting Kids to Brush You can prevent dental disease! We know……… Kids and adults need to brush 2 times a day. We know when……. After breakfast and before bed HOW do we get the kids to brush??? *Brush your teeth at the same time. *Make brushing part of the daily routine. *Use a little bit of a Fluoride toothpaste they like. *Use a soft toothbrush. *Offer choices: - Do you want to start on the top or bottom teeth? - Who goes first- you or me? *Make it fun- a time to look forward to - Race to the bathroom! - Hunt for leftover dinner in the teeth! - Count the teeth! - Make faces!  Sing the brushing song from school or make up your new song  End with hugs and tickles

If You Suffer Form Hay Fever!!! You can help prevent symptoms: * Clean your house- a good house cleaning job can help decrease the amount of pollen, mold spores, dust and animal dander that cause Hay Fever. * Decrease your exposure- Try to avoid out door activity when the pollen count is the highest. (5a.m. – 10:00 a.m.) * Close your windows - Keep your home and car windows closed when the pollen count is the highest. Use air conditioning with the vent pointed away from your face. * Do your laundry- Wash your bedding weekly. Shower before going to bed to remove any pollen that ahs collected in your hair or on your skin. * Use medications wisely- Take any allergy medication at least 30 minutes before you go outside. * Control your pets- Keep your pets off the furniture and out of your bedroom because pollen can collect in your pets’ hair. ** If your allergies are still a problem, call your medical provider for advice.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION ALL PARENTS!! ATTENTION! Holy Cross Head Start is now accepting applications for the 2012 – 2013 school year! Children born between January 1, 2008 – December 31, 2009 are welcome to apply for our Preschool program! If you do not have any children that are between three and four years of age, please spread the word about our Head Start program to your friends, neighbors, acquaintances! Please note that we also have “Extended Hours” at our Head Start sites. Please call your Family Partner for any further enrollment information, or just stop by one of our centers and pick up some recruitment flyers to pass out to your friends!
