If so, you know that songs we memorize stay with us forever! Sing Your Way to Spanish uses this “musical memory” that we all have as the key to make Spanish easy and fun for your child.

Comprehension in a new language naturally precedes the ability to speak. If developing an ear for the spoken language is your desired goal, active listening and repetition is critical. The more often you play the songs, the faster your child (and you!) will learn.

Here’s how it works: Initially your child will be drawn in by the music. Soon they will begin to remember the songs in English. Then the memorization of the Spanish will begin. Don’t worry if they don’t “parrot” the words back to you; as long as they are engaged in the music, they’re absorbing the words as well. I had a three-year-old in my class who said nothing for a whole year, sitting silently on her mother’s lap every week. All of a sudden, when she was ready, she began to speak and amazed us all. She knew the Spanish words to every song we had done in class! We all know that FUN is a key component in a child’s desire to learn, and children thrive with reinforcement from parents and teachers. Jody JODY’S BACKGROUND Jody has been learning and teaching languages for over 20 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Georgetown University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She attended La Universidad de Barcelona in Spain for a year of undergraduate studies and spent a year and a half studying German in Munich, where she earned Das Kleine Deutsche Sprachdiplom. Jody went on to attend Florida International University on a full academic scholarship where she took masters level classes in Spanish, earning a Master of Arts Degree in Linguistics. Upon graduation she received the award of Outstanding Academic Achievement. Jody has taught Spanish on the college level, and to adults in business settings. For the past seven years she has focused entirely on teaching children, combining her love of Spanish, music and children to create irresistible games and songs.
