CHROMA-CHEM 844 Industrial Colorants & Color System for Solvent-based Applications
Tint Strength Control
Since coatings formulations vary
CHROMA-CHEM 844 Colorants are
from one manufacturer to the next,
controlled to a tinting strength
the base systems may require
tolerance of ±2% by volume. This close
adjustment to improve color
control allows for accurate reproduc-
acceptance characteristics.

E = Excellent G = Good F = Fair N = None SL = Slight T = Trace ** Darkens considerably (2) Product contains lead pigments Please note:These ratings are based upon data published by the pigment supplier. Performance may be affected by specific formulations. Ratings should be verified in the systems that the colorants will be used in.
Heat Stability of Pigments Below is the pigment manufacturers' maximum recommended processing temperature for their products. Some suppliers state which type of coating system they used to obtain these data. Color changes occur very often due to the system in which these pigments are used. For example, heating an alkyd system to a high temperature will cause it to yellow. There is a color shift, but it is not due to pigment degradation. Due to possible changes occurring in the resin system, each colorant should be examined under the production conditions that the system will experience to determine its suitability.
