Introduction This book was birthed from my journey of being diagnosed with diabetes, “managing” this disease, hearing the Word of the Lord that I would write this book, my fight to complete it, and receiving my complete divine healing. This has been a journey and a fight to bring this forth. I was not sure if I was qualified to write a book about this. However, a prophetic word was given to me by Apostle K.L. Warren that I would write this book based upon what the Lord taught me about diabetes. I started to write this book immediately but came to a point where I could go no further. Then another prophetic word was given. I was instructed to write what I knew about this disease and what God was teaching me. As I obeyed and surrendered to Holy Spirit, the flow of the book came back. However, much warfare came as a result of me attempting to write this book. I stopped the process of writing this book so many times and Holy Spirit began to speak to me concerning why I still was struggling with this disease as it progressed in how it affected my body. I came out of disobedience and began to write…..again. The Lord began to speak to me and showed me diabetes is an attack on the body just as cancer and any other form of sickness or disease. Infirmities are of the enemy, intended to weaken us, hinder our progress, get us off course, and kill us if we succumb to it. We as believers have become lulled to sleep by the cares of this world and have come in agreement with what we see and accepting things as normal rather than seeing this as an attack. We quickly come into agreement with what is stated about diabetes such as its hereditary or it was in our genetics. It has been accepted as one of those things that just happens due to family history or because it is prevalent amongst African Americans. Instead of coming against this attack and declaring our healing. Not anymore. It is time to fight! The time has come for you to no longer accept what the enemy desires to do to you. Let’s attack this in the spirit by

declaring your healing, and standing on as well as speaking the Word. I will discuss what the Lord revealed to me in the spirit.

Chapter 1 Bondage Through Tradition My upbringing was full of love, laughter, and food. My mother is the oldest of seven children, all of the seven children had children, and then the children had children. We have a rather large family to say the least. Every time we came together, for any reason, there was food. From family reunions to get togethers, we did what we did best, we cooked. For almost every occasion we cooked: having a few of the family members over, we cooked, if we had any guests at all, we cooked, and sometimes just because….we cooked. Whether by cooking or store brought, we had food for any and every occasion. Cooking quickly became the way I welcomed my guests and even the way I showed my love. In our family, we wanted our guest to feel loved and have an abundance of food to have their fill. We truly don’t’ realize how much of childhood experiences and traditions enter in, that later follows us into adulthood, and repeats itself within our own family that we will pass down to our children. It is accepted as something “We do” or have always done. At the age of 7, we moved from our hometown of Ft. Myers, FL and moved to Tampa, FL. However, that did not change our tradition, it continued. My oldest sister was known for her ability to cook soul food, my second to the oldest sister was known for her baking the most delicious deserts, and I became known for my breakfast. We enjoyed cooking for our families, each other, and others. Whenever we came together, we cooked! We often would plan get togethers and quickly developed our menu. The feeding of people did not stop with my family. My mother started as an evangelist and now is known as a Prophetess. She has spent her adult life helping others and feeding the homeless. I have watched my mother give to others out of our home and whatever resources she had, to help

feed other families. As God began to elevate her, a ministry was birthed. My mother then began to have outreaches. This involved the giving of toiletries, clothing, household supplies, and of course food. This became a family outreach as all her children were involved. We cooked to provide hot food as well as dry and non-perishable food to take home. This went on for years. This was my foundation concerning food without thinking of how much I was eating or what I was eating. Food has always been part of my life and our family tradition became my bondage. I am not saying food is bad. We must, to a degree eat to live (in this fleshly body); however, we should never live to eat. The tradition of using food as a means to comfort others, opened the door for food to become a means to comfort myself, I will speak more about food being an idol in my upcoming book, “The Words we Speak and Idols we Keep”. If I was happy, I ate, if I was sad, I ate, if I was angry, I ate. This carried on into my relationships. When I first started to date my exhusband, I noticed he either didn’t eat often or he would always eat out. So, I began to cook for him and take it to his job. Food was one of the ways I used to show my affections for him. After we got married, I became a stay at home mother and took care of my grandmother, who was a diabetic. I cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I took care as to what I fed my grandmother, as I understood she needed to eat healthy. I was mindful of her carbs, sugars, and anything that could cause her sugar numbers to spike. However, for me, I looked to food without thinking about it or how it would affect me later. Food had become an association with a variety of emotions, and I used food to appease them all. As I previously stated, when I was happy, I ate and when I was sad, I ate. When I was going through my divorce my eating increased. I was so emotionally damaged that all I could do to comfort myself was to eat. I was emotionally broken. After the divorce was finalized, within a few months there were some physical changes my body began to experience. During my job’s

Christmas party, I noticed I was extremely thirsty. I could not drink enough water to quench my thirst. No matter how many glasses of water I drunk, my thirst remained. A few days later, at my son’s football practice, I had to use the restroom every 15 to 20 minutes. This was so abnormal and concerning. However, I excused it away. Then I woke up one morning and noticed my vision was extremely blurry. This alerted me and I began to think about my grandmother and some of the things she experienced. Immediately thought to myself these were all signs of high sugar levels. The next day I checked my sugar levels and it was a whopping 275, fasting. I was in total shock and disbelief. Later that day I went to the ER to get checked, and I was at 400 by that time. I followed up with my doctor to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I “managed” this disease for years. I accepted it as something that just happened to me and excused it away. I would decree that it would not kill me and that I was healed. However, I did not go to war for my healing until after I was admitted into the hospital for having blood sugars of 700. Accepting this disease caused me not to fight for my healing but rather succumb to what was spoken over me. In Colossians 2:8 Paul warns of following the traditions of man. Traditions that “man” come up with as opposed to following spiritual principles of the Word. Culture has traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation as well as the culture within our families. We can get caught up in these traditions and began to follow and observe them religiously. We must develop a mind that is free from traditions and strongholds. We must allow new thoughts, concepts, and ways of thinking to be developed within us (Romans 12:1-2).

Prayer Point Father in the name of Jesus, I pull down every stronghold, vain imagination, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God. I break free from all the traditions of my family and culture that has caused me to be out of balance in my eating habits, my thoughts, and my actions. I renounce the ways I have come into agreement with such things. I decree that I shall live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. I command all environmental principalities and powers that have had influence over me in this area be destroyed by fire in the name of Jesus. I come into agreement with the Word of God concerning my life, my thoughts, and how I see my health. In Jesus name. Amen!

Chapter 2 Wounded Spirit The Lord began to speak to me concerning how this spirit of infirmity gained access to me. Like I stated in my introduction, we must see this disease as an attack on the body. And this was an attack on mine. God took me to Proverbs 18:14 The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear? AMPC This word “sustain” in Hebrew means to maintain or be able to bear. A weaken spirit is unable to bear hardship and sustain the body in times of trouble or distress. Going through my divorce left me emotionally broken, mentally drained, my spirit was weakened, and unable to bear me during this time of emotional distress. I felt weighted down, heavy, depressed, and I was coming unglued. I felt heaviness and my mind was cluttered all the time. I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. I felt broken. This event weakened my spirit. When our spirit is weak, we are not able to fight off any attacks from the enemy or keep our flesh under subjection to the Word. Galatians 5:17 NLT says: The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out

your good intentions. I should have used the time from my diagnosis waring for my health, coming against the attack on my health, seeking healing for my soul, and strengthening my spirit. However, my spirit was weak because I was not feeding my spirit with the Word. Instead, I continued to emotionally eat, meditated on the situation, and did not seek instruction from the Word or healing. I feed my flesh by placing food (comfort) and my situation above the Word. I allowed for this situation to be bigger than my God. When we allow our flesh to dominate, our mind (being carnal minded), prevents the things of God from taking priority and causes the Word not to be top of mind. Our thoughts become full of our problems and situations with an immediate thought of what can we do to relieve the stress and bring comfort to oursleves. Our thoughts become a mixture of what we’ve heard from other people concerning the situation and what may have been spoken over us by others (like doctors who diagnose) or other medical professionals. The flesh caused me to seek comfort (food/eating the things I loved to eat) instead of seeking the wisdom of God. My thoughts were full of the emotional pain I was in and trying to understand why it was happening. I constantly thought about the words that had been spoken over me by my ex-husband: I wasn’t good enough, I had gained weight, and I was not going to find anyone better than him, you’ll never find anyone that will want you, and you’ll never be good for anything etc. These words got into my spirit, in my mind, and I unconsciously began to come into agreement with them because I did not reject them as they were released against me. So many words get spoken over our lives by people, some are demonically inspired, some are from those we love and trust that are not conducive to healing, and we do not reject them. We take the hit from the words that are spoken and pretend that it did not hurt or affect us. Or we attempt to not allow the other person to see that it had an effect on us.

Most of us are unaware of how words that have gotten into our spirits can affect us. Let me explain. Take a look at this scripture: For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost]. Proverbs 23:7 AMPC Thinks or thinketh (as it is used in the KJV), in this text means to split or to open which is derived from another root word that means gate or door keeper. So, thoughts open us up and these thoughts enter into our hearts. Did you know your heart is an amoral organ and it only produces what you place in it (Luke 6:45AMPC). This means the words that we are hearing and not rejecting, these very words are getting into our minds, becoming thoughts that we have not rejected, and we are meditating on them. Meditation is a powerful thing. In Joshua 1:8 we are told to meditate on the Word day and night. I am inclined to believe that as we meditate on the words we hear that those very words go deeper into our spirit and our hearts. The Psalmist said, “Your Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11). Is it possible the words that are hidden in the heart of the Psalmist are producing a lifestyle of obedience to the Word? I think about how some of the Eastern practices use different forms of meditation in their religious and disciplined practices. Like how the martial artists are taught to meditate mind over matter to achieve certain physical abilities. Like punching through bricks or laying on a bed of nails without their skin being punctured etc. Their practices of meditating (making their mind strong enough through their core belief system by the help of demons, to supernaturally control their physical bodies) produces supernatural abilities.

The devil is such a copycat in everything he does. He is not a creator. He is only a copycat. He knows and understands the power of meditating on words. The power of life and death is in the tongue and those that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverbs 18:21). The fruit that is produced is what comes from the heart because of the heart flows the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). The Bible tells us what to think (meditate/open) on: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

We should be meditating on what is true…..truth. What is truth? Everything that is in the Word of God. The truth produces life and renders healing. What would happen if we began to meditate on what God has said concerning our healing? I want to give you something to meditate on, let’s look at Isaiah 53: 3-12;

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

From this scripture there are so many points in which we can meditate on concerning healing that was done for us by Jesus’s suffering. •

Jesus was acquainted (familiar/understood) with grief (sickness/disease), He understands how we feel in our sicknesses and disease (Hebrews 4:15)

He borne (carried) griefs (sickness/diseases) carried our sorrows (afflictions)

Wounded for our transgressions (sins), bruised for our inquities

With His stripes we ARE healed (this is a present/perpetual thing)

The iniquity of us all were laid upon Him

He was innocent but opened not His mouth. This was to complete the work of the cross so that you and I may receive from His sacrifice salvation (deliverance/healing) from sin and the penalty of sin.

It pleased the Lord for this suffering to occur. Jesus became sin, sickness, disease, and was afflicted so that you and I can receive our healing. The price was paid for us to be healed.

How wonderful is that? Jesus already carried sickness and disease for you. So why are you still carrying it? However, when we meditate on lies it produces/manifests the opposite of truth. We give place to the enemy for him to produce his lying symptoms within our bodies. As I began to think of all the words spoken over me, including the diagnosis of diabetes, I meditated on these words as truth and came into agreement with them. I began to say that I have diabetes. When people would ask me if I had diabetes, I would answer yes. Now understand, the fact may be that I have diabetes, but the “truth’ was, is, and has always been that I Am healed (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24). Sickness comes against our redemptive testimony of healing through the salvation of Jesus Christ. The finished work of the cross forever abolished sickness, poverty, lack, diseases, and even spiritual death from the fall of Adam. However, we can forfeit our healing by coming into agreement with what the enemy presents (his lies) and receive it as truth. I began to not only come into agreement with the diagnosis but the expectation of having to be on medication to “manage” it. Doing this led to the dependency of medication (insulin) to control it.

Prayer Point Father in the name of Jesus, heal my wounded spirit and soul from all that has afflicted it. I come into agreement with your Word concerning my healing. I come out of agreement with the words that have been spoken over and against me. If I have spoken any words against myself that are contrary to my redemptive testimony, I ask for forgiveness and renounce such words now. I destroy those words by the Holy Fire of God now. I speak life to my mind, my body, and my emotions. I decree the only words that shall penetrate my heart are the Words from the living God. I shall meditate on whatever is true, worthy of reverence, honorable, lovely, kind, gracious, and what is of good report. I shall practice what I have learned and received from you. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

Chapter 3 Our Body’s Natural Immune System Naturally we have an immune system designed to keep us healthy and free from foreign entities within our bodies according to John Hopkins University, this is how our immune system works: The innate immune system This is our body’s rapid response system. The skin is the first to respond to invaders as well as the eye's cornea, and the mucous membrane that lines the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary tracts. These all create physical barriers to help protect your body. They protect against harmful germs, parasites (such as worms), or cells (such as cancer). The innate immune system is what you are born with. When this system recognizes an invader, it goes into action right away. The cells of this immune system surround and cover the invader. The invader is killed inside the immune system cells (called phagocytes). The acquired immune system The acquired immune system, with help from the innate system, makes special proteins (called antibodies) to protect your body from a specific invader. These antibodies are developed by cells called B lymphocytes after the body has been exposed to the invader. The antibodies remain the body. The formation of antibodies can take several days. However, after the first exposure, the immune system will recognize the invader and defend against it. The acquired immune system changes during your life. Immunizations train your immune system to make antibodies to protect you from harmful diseases. (1)

Our Spirit as an Immune System Our spirits are our body’s (your body as a whole mind, body, and emotions/will) defense against attacks from the enemy. Think of it this way, our body’s natural defense is our immune system, like previously explained. It’s our body’s way of fighting off invading bacteria or viruses. When our immune system is strong and intact, it prevents us from being susceptible to illnesses. Looking back at the verse (Proverbs 18:14), our spirit sustains us against infirmities. Our spirit has its own weapons or protection system given to us by God. We find this protection system or amor in Ephesians 6:13-17. Here’s the breakdown: 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand

in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand

therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the

breastplate of righteousness; Why do we need our loins (which are our hips the area surrounding our reproductive/sexual organs) girded (fastening with a belt) with the belt of truth: Look at what science says about the hips The hip is the area on each side of the pelvis. The joint itself is one of the largest and most unique joints in the human body, responsible for bearing weight, stabilizing the core, and moving the upper leg. The tighter your hips are, the less mobility your body has. This can result in pain and hinder daily activities like walking and climbing stairs. Tight hips can also cause an anterior tilt of the pelvis which results in poor posture and misalignment of the head and neck.

This goes to show how important the hips are when it comes to how the entire body functions. ****We have a spiritual posture. A way that we look in the spirit. The belt of truth is helping to stabilize our spiritual posture and keeps our body in alignment with the head of the body (Jesus Christ) Neuroscience also offers a look at how emotions become stored in the body. In 1985, neuroscientist Candace Pert found, that small proteins known as neuropeptides activate the circuits linked to emotions. She famously stated that “your body is your subconscious mind,” and that the physical body can change depending on what we’re feeling. Pert’s research suggests that emotions are electrochemical signals that carry emotional messages throughout the body. They are then expressed, experienced, and stored within the body and mind. This can influence activity in the brain and change the cell to either have a positive or negative effect on the body. Pert’s work proposes that each cell carries a kind of consciousness that stores memories and emotional states. Current research supports this as well. A 2021 study noted that cell consciousness can be explained by the presence of nano brains and that cells are “highly sensitive” and respond to sensory stimuli as well as internal and extracellular electromagnetic fields. The researchers concluded that eukaryotic cells, or the cells that make up plants, animals, fungi, and single-celled organisms, are “cognitive and intentional.”

According to a 2019 study, certain emotions are associated with specific areas of the body. Interestingly, these correlations are universal across cultures and sex assigned at birth. A 2017 study noted that emotions are associated with specific organs in East Asian medicine. The study also noted that East Asian medicine uses “somatic” language when referring to emotional disorders, while Western medicine prefers “neural” language. Furthermore, the hip region is associated with the sacral chakra, an energetic center believed by some to house creative energy and sexuality. It’s also linked to how you relate to your emotions and the emotions of others. (2) How is the Truth a weapon? How does it protect us? •

John 14:6 – Jesus said He is the Truth. We come to the Father by Him. Our salvation (which is another word for deliverance) comes through belief on Him. We are saved and delivered from the penalty, the bondage of sin and death. Our salvation, our redemptive testimony is what we use against the enemy. The Truth is the enemy was disarmed (Colossians 2:15). The truth is because of Jesus, we have power and authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19).

Philippians 4:8 – We talked about the important of words and what it does to our souls. When we meditate on the truth, the truth gets into our spirits and our souls (which involves our emotions) and sets both our spirit and our souls free (John 8:32). This means whatever negative emotions are being stored in our hips the truth will set it free and bring balance back into our being giving us a right standing spiritual posture. And having the breastplate of righteousness Righteousness in this text also means justification or equity of character.

This weapon is used when the enemy wants to throw accusations toward you like: you deserve the punishment you are receiving, or that you are not worthy of any type of blessings, and he will also use things such as past failures, faults, or even past sins in an attempt to decimate/destroy your character. Let this be the response we give:

31 What

then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can

be our foe, if God is on our side?] 32 He

who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will

He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? 33 Who

shall bring any charge against God’s elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is,

Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?] 34 Who

is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who

was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us? Romans 8:31-34 AMPC

It is God who has given unto us His righteousness through Chris Jesus. There is no one that can stand against us because God is for us because He justified us through the death and resurrection of Jesus and by our belief upon the Son of God. The righteousness is our weapon against the naysayers. The enemy will try to use how you have been living to place you in condemnation concerning what is going on in your body. Healing is part of your redemptive

testimony. It is what you received when you accepted Christ. Healing was provided not because you deserved it but because that is Who God IS. So receiving your healing works the same as you receiving your salvation.

15 And

your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

In this text shod means to be fitted or to bind under one’s feet like a shoe. So, we put on the shoes of peace. We live in a world where people a quick to run to do evil. They run to gossip. They run to sow discord (causing confusion and disunity). They run to cheat and steal. In Psalm 36:11, it says let not the foot of pride come against me…..not everyone’s feet are fitted with peace. Not everyone comes with the mindset to bring peace.

***Are your feet fitted with the gospel of peace, ready to walk in the path of righteousness and holiness. This is our weapon/protection against chaos, disunity, those who wish to sow discord within your life, marriage, family, and ministry.

16 Above

all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the

fiery darts of the wicked. This shield of faith in the Greek, is our moral conviction of truth which is reliant upon Christ for salvation. Dr. Scofield was a Greek and Hebrew scholar and within his reference Bible

the Greek and Hebrew words translated salvation imply the ideas of deliverance, safety, healing, and health ( Kenneth Hagin). In the Greek fiery darts is translated as spears or arrows that are inflamed with anger, grief (grief meaning sickness or disease, Isaiah 53:4), or lust. What is the shield of faith, which is our moral conviction of the truth, and how do we use it? The shield of faith is our belief in the Word. We use the Word by quoting/decreeing it. We put out the fiery darts by decreeing the Word of truth and standing on it. Not being moved by what “we see in the natural”. As I said previously, the fact maybe you have diabetes but the truth is you were, you are, and always will be healed, if you believe. We must have faith in the Word and submit to it, believing it is Truth.

17 And

take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of

God: Now in this text, salvation is translated from Greek meaning defense or defender. Think about what a helmet in the natural protects. It protects your head which symbolizes your mind, your thinking. The helmet as a weapon or part of your spiritual immune system, is protecting your thoughts. Why is this important? Because as a man thinketh in his heart (the heart of his mind/ his soul) so is he (Proverbs 23:7). The helmet is protecting your right way of thinking. The enemy will come and attempt to think wrong for you to accept the things he brings your way. If he can get you in doubt and you begin to doubt the Word of God, then the Word of God will not work for you (Hebrews 4:2). As the shield of faith is protecting us against the fiery darts, the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) is our attack weapon. It pierces, it divides, and is a discerner of the thoughts

and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). We are able to discern the thoughts and the heart intentions of others by the Word. Our Spirits and Souls can be trained to protect us Just as in the natural, when foreign things enter into our bodies, our immune system becomes trained to recognize it and destroy it. As we go through life we encounter situations that are not always a one-time event or occurrence. In Romans 12:2, the Word says we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The mind is being trained according to the Word. We are being given a new way of thinking. We train our bodies physically by exercising. We train our brains or how we think by attending school. Training of our spirits comes by us remaining in the Word. The Word of God strengthens our spirit to take the lead and govern our souls (mind, will, and emotions). In James 4:7 the Word says to submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Submission in this text means to be under obedience, to obey, and to put in subjection. We are putting ourselves (our thinking, our will, and our emotions) under subjection to God (His Word). Submission is a weapon and also trains our soul while strengthening our spirits. When we submit to God, the devil has to flee along with what he used against you will be destroyed. Our submission gives God the green light to work in us, for us, and through us. Submission allows for God to shift and change what is in us (things that belong to the enemy/sin nature/carnal thinking) to the mind of Christ. Not being in submission or being in rebellion (because when you are not submitted you are in rebellion) opens us up for the attacks of the enemy. Every time the children of Israel were in disobedience to God, something happened, they were given over to the hands of

their enemies or judgement hit the camp. Our submission creates an atmosphere within us for the Word of God to work on our behalf. An example of this would be Naaman the leper. Naaman inquired of the Prophet Elisha for the healing of his leprosy. Elisha sent his servant to instruct Naaman to go and dip himself seven times in the Jordan river. Naaman was offended first that Elisha did not come see him in person and perform some great act for his healing but also the place in which he was told to dip himself in. However, the moment Naaman submitted to the instruction given him, he was made whole. This also goes for the homes. Often times, we think about submitting to spiritual leadership outside of the home but how about the order of our homes? Hitting on this briefly without going into a lecture. If you are a husband, you are to submit to the Word which is Christ (Ephesians 5:2233). 1 Peter 3:7 says it all. By submitting to the Word and “doing” what the Word is instructing you to do, you prayers are subject to be heard and answered. Wives are to be submissive to their husband's and children to the parents. If you are a wife and you have Holy Spirit, it is simple. Allow Holy Spirit to lead you in the art of submission. However, you must not reject what He tells you. Holy Spirit is a gentleman and will gently tell you what you are and are not to do, even down to how you are to do it. If you continue to reject Him, He will become quiet because you have quenched Him. Holy Spirit knows all about submission. He submits to the will of the Father all the time, not giving His own opinion or thoughts. He does the will of the Father by revealing the very nature of Jesus and giving revelation of the scriptures (which is Christ because He is the Word). Philippians 4:6-7 Peace of God keeps us. When we are worried, anxious, or even stressed it places us in fear and doubt. Which we learned earlier, cancels out the Word of God and its effectiveness in our lives. Look at this snippet of an article concerning stress:

“Chronic stress can contribute to several harmful physiological events. When body tissues are exposed to high levels of cortisol for extended periods of time, some cellular and tissue alterations may occur. High levels of cortisol cause fat stores and excess circulating fat to be relocated and deposited deep in the abdomen, which left unchecked can develop into or enhance obesity. In addition, hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (elevated lipids), and hyperglycemia (elevated glucose) have been linked to elevated cortisol levels (10, 14, 15 cite)”

Holy Spirit the Immune Booster But he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17. We are one with Holy Spirit, who in John 14:16 AMP describes as our Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby who remains with us forever. Holy Spirit is our immune booster. Hallelujah, He strengthens us. When we are in alignment with Holy Spirit and our spirit is in unity with His, we become strengthened in the Lord. Let’s take a look at Samson. Samson was a Nazirite and a judge for the children of Israel. It was because of Holy Spirit that Samson possessed the strength he had (Judges 13:25, 14:6, 14:19, 15:14). When Samson stepped out of alignment with Holy Spirit, the Lord departed from him, and he was weakened to the status of a normal man (Judges 16:20). During the time Samson was weaken, the enemy had his way with him. Samson was made a mockery out of. The Philistines bored out his eyes, bound him with chains, and made him to be a prisoner. This is the very thing the enemy seeks to do. 1 Peter 5:8 says the enemy goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. Samson’s spirit was weakened had departed from him. However, a weakened or wounded spirit cannot bear or maintain

its ability to fight of an attack. When our spirit is weakened, it is not in control, focused on the things of God, or in line with the Holy Spirit. Samson was not focused on the things of God in that moment, he was focused on fleshly desires. Let’s look at this same scripture in the message bible: A healthy spirit conquers adversity, But what can you do when the spirit is crushed? Proverbs 18:14 Adversity by definition means difficulties or misfortune, but it can also mean so many other things. Some of the synonyms for adversity are hardship, distress, suffering, affliction, sorrow, heartbreak, and heartache. These are the very things Samson experienced, that led to a weakened spirit. Samson’s first wife was taken from him and given to his friend and fell in love with Delilah, who ultimately betrayed him. This caused him to experience suffering, he was afflicted, and experienced sorrow with heartache. I hope that I am making my point. I am certain many of us can relate to some of these if not all. We have all faced some type of hardship, suffering, an affliction. However, there is always a way of escape. I love how the Amplified Classic version puts it: 13

For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has

overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not [b]adjusted and [c]adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted]

not

to

let

you

be

tempted and tried and assayed

beyond

your

ability and strength

of

resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to [d]a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.

Praise the Almighty for His way of escape. That escape is His Word, His Wisdom, and direction given to us by Holy Spirit. When Samson prayed (Judges 16:28), Holy Spirit came upon him and strengthened him. As he reached that place of realigning with Holy Spirt and received strength, he

defeated the enemy that had afflicted him. As this will be so for you. As you reach the place of realignment with God being led by Holy Spirit, you will see your enemy defeated. You will notice supernatural improvements with your mind and physical body.

Chapter 4 This is a Spiritual Fight And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant. Psalm 143:12 Just as God is the lover of our soul, as it was the breath of God that placed life in us creating a living soul (Genesis 2:7), Satan is the enemy to our soul and hates your very existence Psalm 143:3). The moment you accepted Jesus into your heart, your spirit was recreated and made perfect. However, the soul is “being” transformed. That means this is not an instant or an overnight process. Which means there are things we must be aware of, things will need to be delivered from, allow Holy Spirit to uproot, cut off/out, reprogram, and transform within us. The Word tells us to be transformed by the renewing of your minds (Romans 12:2). The word mind in this text is the Greek word nous which means the intellect that is mind (divine or human; in thought, feeling or will). Your soul consists of your mind(thoughts), will, and your emotions or feelings. We must allow the Word to consistently transform us by consenting and submitting to it on a continuous basis. Satan is an opportunist, and he plans to take full advantage of your weakened state. A wounded soul grants him access to you. Again, this is by no means the only way diabetes or any disease for that matter can get in, this is what the Lord showed me concerning myself. Access through the Blood or by Agreement Satan uses several loopholes to gain access to you. He can and will use your blood line (things coming from your ancestors) or he will use your agreement. When we are born, we are born predisposed to some things because of the blood that carries our DNA or genetic make-up.

Our DNA carry preprogramed codes which can be seen as some physical appearances in family members, characteristics, or personality traits etc. The enemy understands that most people will just accept what they deem as being part of them due to generational inheritance. We must take caution as to what we just accept as being or staying in our bloodline. I want to take a look at David’s life and how the spirit of lust and perversion traveled down his bloodline. In Psalm 51:5, David states it was in sin that he was conceived. David was considered to be an illegitimate child due to this, which is why he was not counted in the number of Jesse’s son when Samuel invited Jesse to come and bring his sons to a sacrifice (1 Samuel 16:5). Fast forward to David being King. David saw Bath-Sheba and desired (lusted after) her and David committed adultery with Bath-Sheba. Let’s see how this spirit of perversion continued down the family line. In 2 Samuel chapter 13, you’ll read about Amnon, son of David, who loved his halfsister Tamar, David’s daughter. Amnon raped his half-sister. Then we can travel down to the life of Solomon, also a son of David. Solomon was considered the wisest of Kings, yet in still he had 700 wives and 300 concubines. This caused him to worship other gods due to his wives. This spirit of perversion was able to affect different ones within David’s bloodline as it was not dealt with specifically, no one came against it, and destroyed it out of their bloodline until Jesus came. This is the same for anything else. Involvement in witchcraft flows through the bloodline as well. I think about generational witches and warlocks that have offered their bloodline to Satan to be used to come against the kingdom of light. These demons manifesting in the lives of children who maybe unaware of such involvement of their family members or they are aware and are in full agreement. Agreement is a power thing. I think we underestimate the power of agreement. However, this is a concept that the enemy does not underestimate but instead he promotes. First, let’s

establish that all forms of sickness and disease originates from Satan. There was no recorded sickness, disease, or sin of mankind until after the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden. It wasn’t until after the fall that the enemy gained authority over the Earth and over mankind. Over centuries, people have just come to accept sickness and disease as part of life. So much so, that vaccines were created as a means to counteract some viruses and diseases that had become regional and national problems. As people turned from God, their faith had turned to other things as a means to a cure. Culture has taught us (within the African American communities) that black people are at high risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, and some heart conditions. I have seen far too many people within the African American communities just accept the diagnosis given to them by doctors. They come into agreement with the diagnosis and prepare for the onslaught of medications prescribed to “manage it”. Why are we just accepting sickness when Jesus already bore it for us? People would rather believe and have more faith in superstitious mess and old folk sayings rather than having faith in the Word of God He Comes to Steal, Kill, and to Destroy I remember being in service on Sunday morning and Apostle K.L. Warren was teaching on how Satan comes to attack us. The Word says he comes to steal, kill, and to destroy (John 10:10). Satan uses what our souls has an affinity for to steal from us, to kill us, and to destroy us. This simply means whatever our souls are attracted to, the enemy will use against us. For example, we talked about David, and it appeared that a love or should I say lust for women was something that he and his sons had an affinity to. For other people they may have an affinity to drugs, alcohol, sex, food etc. As I have stated before, the devil is a copycat and seeks to do what he sees God do. God has given angels charge over you to protect you (Psalms 91:11-16). The enemy has assigned

demons to you, to your family but not for protection. To gather information. This information is used to strategize attacks and to set up traps and snares. The Bible calls him an evil genius ruler (John 14:30 AMPC). Before Jesus left the disciples, He told them that Satan was coming but there was nothing in Him that belongs to Satan. Let’s look at John 14:30-31: I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.] But [Satan is coming and] I do as the Father has commanded Me, so that the world may know (be convinced) that I love the Father and that I do only what the Father has instructed Me to do. [I act in full agreement with His orders.] Rise, let us go away from here. There was no sin found in Jesus. Jesus became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). We however, being born into sin, know sin very well. Before you reached a place of surrender in your walk with God, you lived a life a sin and in full agreement with the pleasures sin has to offer. I’m certain that you don’t have to look to deep to find the pleasures your soul and flesh has been in agreement with. And the things we like, we have a tendency not to fight against. We have somewhat of a soft spot for it and will at times justify keeping it. Tactics of the Enemy This by no means is an exhaustive list but here are some examples:

➢ He attacks at the point of your weakness (1 John 2:16) ➢ He attacks at the point of our strengths (1 Chronicles 21:1). This occurred while David and his army were having victory upon victory over their enemies. ➢ He will have surprise attacks (Exodus 17:7-8) ➢ He will come to steal the Word of the Lord (Matthew 13:19) ➢ He will sow tares (Matthew 13:38-40) ➢ He inflicts sickness and diseases (Job 2:7, Luke 13:16) ➢ He induces mental and emotional disorders (Mark 5:1-6) The Enemy’s Armor and Weapons ➢ Darkness (Ephesians 6:12, Luke 22:52-53) ➢ Deception (Romans3:13) ➢ Intimidation/Scare Tactics (Nehemiah 4:1-8, 1 Samuel 17:4-11) ➢ Ignorance (Hosea 4:6, Romans 10:3) ➢ Confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33, Acts 19:23-29) ➢ Doubt (Genesis 3:1-5, Hebrews 3:8-19) ➢ Lies (John 8:44) ➢ Unrighteousness (1 John 3:10) ➢ Condemnation (Romans 8:1) Satan will use the mistake you made to put you in selfcondemnation. ➢ Fear (Job 3:25, 2 Timothy 1:7) ➢ Destruction (John 10:10) ➢ Another Word/Gospel (Galatians 1:6-8) ➢ Distractions (Luke 10:40-42, 1 Corinthians 7:35)

Satan’s power is real. However, is power is not greater than the power of God. His power is also limited in what he can do and he has no power of the born again believer that is in right standing with the Father. As previously stated, you can see the tactics I which the devil uses to pull the people of God out of the will of God. He has the ability to prevent those who are not in Christ from seeing the light of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4). Even the righteous must remain submitted to the Word of God to kick the devil out (James 4:7) The Working of Holy Spirit in Us In the previous chapter I discussed having a wounded spirit and Holy Spirit being likened to an immune booster. Romans 8:26 lets us know that Holy Spirit helps our infirmities. Holy Spirit comes in and helps us in our weaknesses. It is true that Holy Spirit is all these things as mentioned in John 14:16 AMPC. You don’t have to look any further. 16 And

I will ask the Father, and He will give you

another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever— John 14:16AMPC

Let’s break this down on who Holy Spirit is to us. Counselor – When you think about a counselor, you think about someone you can confide in, someone you can talk to about your problems, and someone you can trust with your most secret of secrets. This is the person who has wisdom along with strategy on how to handle your situations.

The wisdom of men may say to seek a therapist or counselor when the situation gets to a place where you are unsure of how to handle it. Wisdom of God says to seek Him early (Psalm 63:1). The Psalmist says I will seek you early. This doesn’t just mean early in the morning; this means early in the situation. Proverbs 19:21 says that there are many devices (plans/purposes) in the heart of man but only the counsel of the Lord will stand. I love the story of David when he was in Ziklag and the Amalekites had taken their women and children. This was a time of pure distress. It was so stressing to the soldiers, that they were ready to turn on David. However, David inquired of the Lord’s counsel (1 Samuel 30:8). David did not allow for the situation to emotional disable him. After seeking the Lord, he received his answer and recovered all. It is an awesome thing to serve a God that always causes us to win (2 Corinthians 2:14). Helper and Intercessor – Romans 8:26 gives a clear understanding of these two descriptions of Holy Spirit. Holy Spirt helps in our infirmities. Early in the book we see how Holy Spirit acts as our immune booster. In this particular verse, it says He helps our infirmities which can be translated into the feebleness of body or mind, disease, sickness, and/or weakness. Jesus died for us to have divine health and Holy Spirit is here to ensure we receive it. Hallelujah!!!!! We are not left without help. In vs 27 of the same book and chapter, Holy Spirit is said to make intercession for us according to the will of God. Let’s be honest, we do not always know what to pray in every situation. There are times when we think we know what to pray but not having all the information and not having God’s insight can put you at a great disadvantage. You maybe praying for a person to be taken out of a situation, but it is the will of God for them to go through it. Holy Spirit takes our wordless prayers and make them perfect unto God. Advocate – By definition, and advocate is someone who argues for another person especially in court. Yes, there is a courtroom in heaven. God is a righteous “Judge” (Psalm 75:7). We enter into

His “courts” with praise (Psalm 100:4). The accuser of the brethren “accuses” (Revelation 12:10). We “plead” the blood of Jesus as our defense within the courtroom of heaven because the blood covers our sins (Colossians 1:14) and whatever the enemy wants to accuse us of. Despite the accusations the enemy brings up and despite your short comings, Jesus has made provisions for you to be blameless in His sight (Colossians 1:21-22). Strengthener – The Lord is the one who strengthens us. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 it says that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. God steps in with His super to add to our natural to give us supernatural abilities. For us to do what we cannot do on our own. His grace (divine influence on our heart/or divine empowerment) is always sufficient. The devil will come with much warfare in an attempt to get you to stop or to wear you down to the point of quitting. However, that is when you plug into the power source to empower you to keep pressing in and standing. Remember these verses: Isaiah 12:2, Isaiah 41:10, Nehemiah 8:10, and Exodus 15:2. He is your strength. Standby - The definition of a standby is a person waiting to secure a place or readiness for duty. Holy Spirit is waiting on you to allow Him to secure a place in you. Where you allow Him to lead you. He is ready to fulfill His purpose in you. What is that purpose you ask? It is to do the will of the Father concerning your life and destiny in the kingdom. Holy Spirit is waiting for you to allow Him to step in. It is not by our power or might but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4:6). We cannot accomplish anything without Holy Spirit. We have no power, strength, might, or wisdom outside of God. Perfect love Cast Out all Fear In the natural, love will protect and seek to provide the best that is within the person’s capability to do so. A mother’s love for her children will cause her to go without if need be to provide for

them. A father’s love will cause him to place his life on the line for his family. However, our love is not perfect. Our love is conditional. The willingness we have to continue to love despite how we are treated is very limited. I have worked in the Department of Juvenile Justice System and have encountered so many different people. Some of these youths have been in and out of the system for years and some as early as the age 11 and are now 17. The parents have had to take off work, have lost their jobs due to the number of days they have had to miss, are in debt due to court costs as well as probation fees, and some have lost friends and relatives due to the behaviors of the child. And at this point they are ready to throw in the towel and not have anything to do with their child. I have seen husbands and wives separate and eventually get a divorce due to their differences of opinion. What happens in the hearts of these children, who are often times a product of their environment? They become calloused and pessimistic. They began to believe that they are deserving or everything that comes their way or began to give what they feel has been given to them. They have little to no hope for their future or that things will get better or be different. I’m so thankful that God is not like us. Despite our short comings, God still loves. Matter of fact the Word says He’ll never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). As our heavenly Father, He is always in the mindset of protecting His children desiring the best for us (Jeremiah 29:11). In 1 John 4:7-18 to me is such a love story of how God loves us. God IS love. It is His very essence, nature, and being. Love protects. The Bible says perfect love cast out all fear because love is a protector. God is love. The bible says love covers a multitude of sin. The wages of sin is death. Love protected us from death. Love is Christ. Love protected you from sickness by the cross. We must receive the love of Christ and what He accomplished for us through His blood, suffering,

death, resurrection, and ascension. You cannot receive from what you do not believe in. Hebrews 11:6 says that he that comes to God must first believe He is. Do you believe? In Isaiah 53:3-5 gives us the layout of how our healing was provided by the suffering of Jesus. Verse 3 speaks of how He was acquainted with grief. The Hebrew word for grief in this text is chŏlîy which means disease, sickness, or grief. The moment Jesus was betrayed, He became sin (sickness and disease). Jesus has been touched with our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15). In verse 4, Jesus is said to “hath”, which means already done, borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Everything sickness and disease that would be ever known to man, Jesus carried them to the cross. Jesus was wounded, bruised, and punished for our sins, our evil, and our peace. He paid the cost not only to save and redeem you but for you to set free, delivered from the death, and healed. Healing has already been provided for.
