World Language Department at Northgate High “The study of languages and cultures is for all students.”

Goals for the WL Department: a. To develop high levels of proficiency in several of the world's languages and cultures. b. To move beyond traditional approaches in which students learn about languages and cultures. c. To provide opportunities for students to learn languages for real-world purposes in culturally-appropriate ways.

KNOWS AND DOS Spanish IV Honors (Pre-AP) 1. To acquire a high level of fluency in Spanish. 2. To develop an extensive vocabulary. 3. To master the principles of grammar, structure, usage and mechanics applied to composition in Spanish. 4. To become aware of cultural mannerisms, customs, traditions, and behavioral preferences of the different countries. 5. To learn and think logically and creatively for more effective composition writing. 6. To learn to think logically and creatively for more effective oral presentations, descriptions, and storytelling. 7. To become responsible for their individual improvement. 8. To acquire a high level of reading and listening comprehension. 9. To be familiar with the structure of the AP Spanish language and culture exam. 10.
