Kahimsog Kaugmaon Program “Prevention is better than cure.”
This phrase best describes the Kahimsog, Kaugmaon event last August 22, 2022. The activity was attended by around 400 participants consisting of mothers, children, blood donors, and COVID Vaccinees. Of course, with the participation of the doctors, nurses, barangay health workers, midwives, nutritionists, and Philippine Red CrossSurigao del Sur representatives and LGU officials. Dental services, medical services, lectures, vaccinations, and booster shots were administered during the event. In addition, an IEC on maternal and child care was
lectured by Myra Palconit Mosquiter, emphasizing the importance of prenatal check-ups and routine immunizations. Also, Agree Colasito discussed hypertension, its complications, and proper diet and lifestyle. On the other hand, Hazel Frias Quinatac discussed diabetes mellitus, its complications, and prevention. Further, buntis and baby package kits consisting of wet wipes, hygiene kits, and other essentials were distributed to the participants with leaflets. Prizes for those mothers who have completed prenatal, babies with fully immunized, blood donors, and vaccinated persons have received different kinds of gifts. Lastly, bags were given sponsored by the Provincial Health Office-Surigao del Sur and DOH Philippines.

PinasLakas Special Vaccination Days Butuan City The launching of the new vaccination campaign “Sa Booster, PinasLakas” goes full speed as the DOH Center for Health Development Caraga, together with the LGU of Butuan City and its partner agencies, held the ceremonial launch at Robinson’s Place, Butuan City, on July 26, 2022. In line with the Presidential Directives to improve our efforts to quell COVID-19 and to achieve 90% of the A2 population in their primary series & 50% booster dose for the eligible population for the first 100 days, the Caraga region and all of its provinces, united to introduce the new vaccination campaign which aims to bring the vaccines even more, closer to the people and informing them about the benefits they will reap once they join in the wall of immunity. Among these benefits is the possibility of removing the mask requirements, which is something that our fellow countrymen always wanted to have. On July 26, 2022, the City of Surigao launched the

DOH CHD- Caraga Acquires Award from BIR On October 6, 2022, the Bureau of Internal Revenue of District Office No. 103, spearheaded by Atty. Dante E. Tan, Revenue District Officer and Eliezeer O. Deligero Asst. Revenue District Officer awarded the DOH Center for Health Development - CARAGA a Plaque of Appreciation received by Dr. Cesar C. Cassion, DOH CHD-Caraga Regional Director, together with Ms. Aileen Sacol, Chief Administrative Officer, and Mr. Jay Ryan Vilasurda, Accountant III. For the unwavering support and invaluable contribution, having remitted the cumulative amount of Php 79,898,516.69 as of August 31, 2022, representing Withholding Taxes.
This significantly contributed to the outstanding collection performance of Revenue District Office No. 103-Butuan City and the entire Caraga Region.
DOH CHD-Caraga Suppor ts Healthy Learning Institutions Program As Republic Act No. 11223, known as the Universal Health Care (UHC Act), mandated to effectively implement Healthy Learning Institutions in the city, on August 5, 2022, a ceremonial launching for UHC Healthy Learning Institutions Pilot Last Mile Elementary Schools was conducted at the VCDU Prince Hotel INC, Butuan City. The program aimed to maximize impact and introduce the health-promoting framework to broader coverage. Also, it aimed to help the country take the first step in fulfilling this obligation as well as other responsibilities in the Joint Administrative Order No. 2022-0001, providing Guidelines on the Healthy Settings Framework in Learning Institutions. 66

The launching activity started with the welcome message of Mr. Rosalito B. Libres, a representative of the City Mayor who expressed his support and gratitude on behalf of the LGU Butuan for being the only city selected as a pilot site nationwide. After that, Dr. Alfonso Miguel R. Regala, the Chief of the Program Management and Capacity Development Division, presented the rationale and overview of the Healthy Learning Institutions in which he highlighted the significance of each participant’s involvement in the pilot’s success. Further, the commitment ceremony message and signing were followed, led by Hon. Joseph Omar Andaya, Chairman of the Committee on Education and Atty. Fiel Y. Almendra, DepEd Caraga, Assistant Regional Director to the said pilot implementation. Thus, the activity ended with the closing remarks given by Dr. Ernesto Pareja, Local Health Support Division Chief at DOH CHD Caraga, who expressed his gratitude and support for implementing healthy learning institutions in the city. The Butuan Division, City Health Office, DepEd Caraga, and the Local Government of Butuan were among the invited participants. Through the pilot, the DOH- Health Promotion Bureau (DOH- HPB) assisted the select last mile schools in implementing an integrated, end-to-end package of interventions complementing and strengthening existing Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD) programs and will test the process of planning, coordinating, cascading, implementing, and monitoring and evaluating the HLI framework with DepEd. DOH CHD- Caraga Deals with Risk Communication, Community Engagement, and Microplanning Training for COVID-19 Vaccine Demand Generation & Communications On September 15-16, 2022, the Department of Health Center for Development Caraga conducted Risk Communication, Community Engagement, and Microplanning Training for COVID-19 Vaccine Demand Generation & Communications spearheaded by the DOH CHD – Health Promotion Unit at Shacene Pension House, Tandag City, Surigao Del Sur. The activity started with welcome remarks given by Dr. Eric Montesclaros, the head and PHO II of the Provincial Health Office. On the first day of the training activity, the topics discussed were: Situational Report for COVID-19 Vaccination in Caraga Region, discussed by Ms. Phoebie Demata-Buque, DOH CHD-Caraga HEPO II; Bakunahang Bayan presented by Ms. Coleen Labitad, DOH-CHD HPU Artist Illustrator; Micro plan Overview and the Evidence Generation and Use (Hesitancy Tool) was discussed by Mr. Timothy John Casona, DOH-CHD HPU Audio-Visual Technician. Afterward, Ms. Buque then discussed the Targets and Strategies for making the efforts effective and proceeded with the Microplanning Workshop. Then after the presentations and discussions, an open forum was conducted in which the participants asked a series of questions. On the second day, a recap of the discussion from the previous day was tackled. Then, Ms. Buque took over to continue the discussion of Risk Communication (lecture) followed by demonstrations, planning, and the next steps for effective implementations. The activity ended with the giving of certificates and photo documentation for all the participants who completed and attended the two-day training activity.
