School Uniform Results WE ARE A MANDATORY UNIFORM SCHOOL The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, states in School Board Rule 6Gx13-5C-1.031, Activities, DRESS CODE, that schools shall be eligible to participate in a mandatory uniform program if at least 50 percent plus one (1) of the parents in the school who vote, vote in favor of establishing a uniform program. Cleanliness and neatness of the hair and clothing are essential. All students are required and expected to dress in the designated uniform colors and attire everyday. In order for the school and community to distinguish upper academy (grades 6-8) students from lower academy (grades Pre-K-5) students, there is a variation in uniform colors. Uniforms are available at a variety of local stores, such as Ibiley School Uniform or I.Q. Zone, etc. You are free to purchase school uniforms wherever you would like as long as they meet the requirements.

Proceso de Lotería para el Pre Kindergarten voluntario (VPK) Jueves, 8 de mayo de 2008, *6:00 PM This process occurs when a school has more eligible applicants than available slots; the school must make their selections utilizing a lottery system. Numbers are pulled until the maximum class size is reached. If the applicant family has twins or triplets, the drawing of one name entitles all children to be eligible for enrollment. The school will continue drawing and recording names for the waiting list. All parents will be notified in writing of their child’s enrollment status by mid-May.

Transfer Procedures from Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center Extended Foreign Language (EFL) Inclusive Education Traslado de estudiantes de Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Los estudiantes del Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center y sus expedientes academicos seran transferidos automaticamente a la escuela Dr. Rolando Espinosa K-8 Center. Los padres no tienen necesidad de completar ningun documento, ni de visitar la escuela mientras este proceso se lleva a cabo.

Programa de Idioma Extranjero Extendido (EFL)

Extended Foreign Language (EFL) refers to a program delivery system offered within Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The program is offered in selected classes in kindergarten through grade 6. The EFL program emphasizes the teaching of language arts and curriculum content in both English and Spanish. The program is designed for a group of students at each grade level who, after successfully participating in the program for one school year, are automatically enrolled in the subsequent grade level in order to move towards a continuum of bilingual studies through grade 12. Students must maintain a “C” or above grade in all the core subject areas in order to remain in the program. Dr. Rolando Espinosa K-8 Center will offer the EFL program during the 2008-2009 school year.

En la educacion inclusiva,los estudiantes discapacitados reciben los servicios de la escuela en las aulas a la par de sus compañeros.
