This month we helped gentoo to launch the first affordable food hub in Pennywell!

HELLO AND WELCOME TO YOUR LATEST NEWSLETTER. Hello and welcome to the 8th edition of the RE:CAP. We’ve had another extremely busy couple of months. Something I find myself saying more and more, but with Christmas fast approaching it seems the perfect time to take stock of what’s been going on, and wow have we got stacks of positive news to share. From new starters and promotions to new office updates, project pipelines, community work and hot off the press details about December salaries and bonuses, I’m sure this edition of the RE:CAP will go down well with all (Page 8 and 11 especially!) The biggest thanks and appreciation however comes from me. Your hard work and efforts not just in recent months but throughout the entire year are the reason why we’re in the fortunate position we are today. With so much uncertainty in the world as a direct consequence of the cost-of-living crisis, I am under no illusion of how lucky and privileged we are as a business to be able to continue (and in some cases exceed) our growth plans. With bigger offices, bigger teams and bigger dreams than ever before. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible. We see first-hand the impact the crisis is having on homes and residents within the North East region, which is why our work with key clients and the SHDF is so important. Especially as we are now starting to be recognised as preferred partners in the delivery of Retrofit to support on upcoming second waves of work. A fantastic achievement which I hope you all are proud of.

At RE:GEN House you’ll of noticed several new faces appearing over recent weeks! We wanted to give our new starters a very warm welcome to the RE:GEN family! We’re delighted to have you all on board.

Matthew:Graham Project Compliance Coordinator

Neil:Heron Joiner

Louie:McLean Labourer

As many will be aware, we have recently collaborated with Gentoo and Karbon to launch a new affordable food hub in Pennywell with “The Bread & Butter Thing”. The first of its kind in Sunderland. Now we’re taking the lead on raising awareness for Christmas toy appeal, starting with Gentoo but something we’re engaging with all clients on so I strongly urge every person reading this to get involved.

Dean:Brown Site Manager

Abbie:Bridgett Partnerships Coordinator

Karl:Stott Fencing Coordinator

Our passion for creating more cost effective and energy efficient solutions whether it’s through our day to day works, facilitating cheaper food shops or just making sure everyone feels loved this Christmas has been a major influencer behind my decision to become the new chair for the CENE Climate Emergency Group. And it’s a huge motivator for how I believe we must continue to run our business moving forward.

Steven:Wylde Commercial Manager

Simon:Hodgson Commercial Manager

Dean:Collings Site Manager

Simon:Leach Lead Retrofit Assessor/Trainer

Bethany:McNaught Marketing and Admin Assistant

But it’s not just what we’re contracted to do that makes the positive impact we have on the community so significant. Our passion and determination to go above and beyond means that we are supporting local communities in all kinds of ways, at a time when they need it the most.

Kim:Watson Bid Manager

It’s about doing the right thing. Always.

THE BIG RE:NOVATION Work has officially begun on site at our new home. As many will be aware, the timescales are tight but as you know, at RE:GEN we love a challenge. From initial strip out work to now building new stud walls and particians, there’s a jam-packed schedule but we’re looking on track for a mid-January move! We are currently in process of working with our appointed Interior Designer and Marketing to agree the design of the office along with the finishing touches. It’s coming together nicely and we look forward to being able to share sneak peeks of our development as we progress over the next few weeks. For now, check out one of the concept images for the interior, can you guess what it's for? For now, here's a closer look at the building along with a sneak peek into the entrance!

SCHEME UPDATE With Christmas fast approaching, and what feels like the busiest half year to date (who knew it was possible to get busier?) , here’s a roundup of some of the new jobs we’ve got starting in 2023, as well as projects set to complete. Well done to all involved! Whether you’ve helped in getting tenders over the line or keeping current work on track, your efforts have not gone unnoticed!

New Year, New Projects! Kicking off in 2023 we have:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered (or just about!):

Jan 23

• Whinfell Decarbonisation works as part of the SHDF. Big shoutout to James McCourt, Craig Priestly, Gill Sweeney and your teams.

Phase 3 – Externals (Roofs, Windows, Pointing etc •

Southwick Externals (Roofs, pointing etc) • Pennywell Phase 2 Externals (Roofs, Windows & Boundary treatments) •

• Environmentals (Gable works, roof repairs and communal upgrades) – Well done to Scott Emmerson, Josh Swinburn, Jackie Ginger and your teams! • Heating – Special mention to Paul Galbraith, Andrea Lorraine and your teams!

External (Pointing and Brickwork Repairs) Feb 23 •

Tintern Ave – New Build scheme for Believe Apr 23 DRIVING DECARBONISATION

Mascot House (Full Upgrade of High Rise Block)

Commuting plays a huge part in RE:GEN’s footprint, so alongside moving to an office within perfect proximity to a range of public transport, our board of directors have decided to forgo their current car allowance to facilitate a new trial of company lease scheme using electric vehicles. The trial will be supported by a salary sacrifice to make it more affordable and more commercially effective for the business.

If this trial proves to be successful, then we will be looking to roll out this approach, or similar, company-wide to promote electrification and decarbonisation as much as we possibly can. Future proofing ‘how we do things’ is now more important than ever so we will keep you updated with our progress of the trial as we enter the new year. 4

As we prepare for the future with a new place to call our home, we’re also taking a look at our GR:EEN credentials and reviewing how best to continue driving decarbonisation across the business. We have committed to being Carbon Neutral by 2025, so with just 3 years to go, what additional plans do we have in place?

Newsletter | Edition 008 | Nov 2022

Jun 23 Heaton Park Court (Decarbonisation work including EWI / Windows, Heating etc)

• St Georges (Communal works) Well done to Paul Mazzey, Xanthe Leck, Rachel Webster and Leanne Webster and your awesome team.

• Whinneybanks – Well done to Barry Wild, Matthew Armstrong, Xanthe Leck, Rachel Webster and your fantastic team!

• Fencing – with a whopping 700 properties and 5000m fencing complete in 6 months! An unbelievable achievement from Neil Stewart and his team!

We’ve got our Half Year figures to share, along with some exciting business updates. Check out Page 9 to find out more.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

CELEBRATING:SUCCESS! We’ve hit some fantastic milestones over recent weeks. Check out some of them below:

HITTING THE HALF WAY POINT! 500TH PROPERTY UPGRADE FOR We’ve just hit the half way mark on an ongoing scheme with believe housing and SHDF, worth more than £5m. This is an incredibly achievement just in time for the arrival of winter, with 500 homes now set to feel warmer and with reduced energy usage. To celebrate the milestone, representatives from believe housing and RE:GEN presented a bouquet to Rosemary Beer, of Peterlee, whose home was the 500th property completed under the scheme. Mrs Beer has been a sterling customer and we are incredibly grateful that she, and many others have allowed us to carry out the work.

ON A ROLL WITH RETROFIT! With so much success on our Retrofit projects (not without their day-to-day challenges of course!) we are delighted to confirm that we have completed a submission for Wave 2 SHDF. The works will cover schemes with believe housing, Gentoo and Newcastle County Council. Some of the contracts will not be awarded until the new year but well done to all involved for helping us reach this position. We are very proud of the Retrofit works we are carrying out across the region.

REACHING FOR THE STARS! We’ve bagged a spot on the Enhanced Capital Delivery Programme! As if we didn’t have enough to celebrate, we are over the moon to announce internally that RE:GEN has been awarded a place on the latest Thirteen framework worth £150m!! Alongside Equans Regeneration and Esh, we will deliver a range of construction and management services through the framework over the next four years. This is a contract we would never have dreamed of going for so soon into the RE:GEN journey, never mind winning! So, to say that the WE ARE capable of achieving anything is a real understatement. We look forward to working closely with the Comms team at Thirteen to give this announcement a real splash over the coming weeks so stay tuned, and be set to raise a glass very soon!

Last week we attended the believe Innovation Showcase and what a show it was!!! The believe Innovation Showcase is an internal 3 day event for believe employees. It’s one of their biggest flagship events held annually to inspire a culture of innovation We were lucky enough to get an invite, as well as backstage access into what it’s like to be part of the believe team…. The theme of this year’s showcase was ‘Lights. Camera. Action.’ When we arrived, we were assigned a genre for the day. Team RE:GEN and RE:geon were assigned a mix of ‘animation’ and ‘comedy.’ This enabled us the opportunity to mix with a variety of different people from a variety of different businesses.

Day 1

Day 2

• Each day had a specific focus and for Day 1, the focus was on tackling how we could increase biodiversity within believe’s portfolio of projects, without acquiring any more land. • We heard from Eco-Entrepreneur Wayne Hemmingway of Hemmingway Design. All of the work that Wayne designs is rooted in ‘doing good for the world’ • His background is all based around reducing, reusing and recycling and he loves to do his bit and take care of the planet. • His greatest motivator for designing Social Housing is because he feels traditional Social Housing spaces looks like prisons and located near roads which isn't a great place to raise children. Next, our very own Lee Francis and Mina Cole were invited on stage to deliver a presentation on Biodiversity. Mina began by giving an overview as to what biodiversity is and why it's so important. Along with some examples as to how an increase in biodiversity can positively impact our communities. Well done Mina, you aced it!!

• On the second day, we started the morning by breaking off into our teams to complete a short workshop to inspire innovation and get our creative juices flowing… • The afternoon was filled by coming up with innovative projects in teams to target the barrier of isolation for believe housing residents. Whether that be financial, physical or emotional isolation. It gave us all a great insight into the problems we are facing within local communities and shone a light on how passionate believe are about tackling these challenges head on.

Day 3 • The final day of the believe Innovation Showcase was filled with awards and pitches of the team’s ideas. • Each year, believe employees are encouraged to come up with new fresh ideas as to how they can tackle company problems.

The Winning Idea • Currently, there is a disconnect in the fact that some tenants can't afford to furnish their homes, yet when others pass away, their families don't know what to do with the furniture so it goes to the landfill, costing believe over £500k a year in disposal. • The bright idea was to open a warehouse to store unused furniture which can be used to help the believe tenants make their house into a home. They could also sell pieces directly to charities to reduce disposal costs further. • MD at RE:geon, Nadia Scott, was part of the team who came up with this idea. So big congrats to Nadia for her inspired thinking!! The event was a real eye opener and gave us a lot of insight into how we could approach challenges within our business.

UPDATE It’s been another jam-packed month for Team RE:geon. From welcoming more new faces to the team, we’ve also now secured our Route 2 Retrofit funding to deliver 4 new programmes. These include: 1. Route 2 Retrofit - For unemployed New Entrants to Construction. 2. Understanding Domestic Retrofit L3 - Everyone in a Construction business will benefit from having the same baseline understand of what Retrofit is and why it’s so important. This is the perfect introductory, light touch programme to achieve that.

3. Understanding Domestic Retrofit L4 – This programme is tailored more specifically to Leaders and Managers, to support them in gaining a better understanding Retrofit from a strategic perspective to inform decision making on Net Zero commitments and wider business objectives. 4. Understanding Domestic Retrofit Advice - This programme will teach you everything you need to know about becoming a Retrofit Advisor.

In December we’re also rolling out a FREE 4 day short course for anyone looking to gain a CSCS card. Know any friends or family who might be interested? Send them our details to sign up >>> [email protected] Here’s a sneak peek at some of our new staff photography that we had done earlier this month. We are extremely proud of this growing family! FINAL:ROUND UP WELCOME SOPHIA! Huge Congratulations to our Head of Sustainability Brian Bedford and partner Helen for welcoming beautiful baby Sophia into the world on Tuesday 8th November! From our family to yours, we wish you all the very best with your new addition and hope she’s settling in well.

GETTING HITCHED! There's love in the air at RE:GEN and RE:geon... We'd like to extend a huge congratulations to Cheryl Sutherland, RE:geon's Director of Operations who got engaged on her recent holiday to Mykonos. We’d also like to congratulate Apprentice Site Manager Paul Wilson who popped the question and CEC Lynsay Makin who said YES!!! We're so happy for you both. Let the wedding planning commence! We’d also like to wish a big Congrats to Liberty and NEW fiancé Sam who also got engaged. We’re over the moon for you

HOUSE KEEPING! A friendly reminder to all staff, please can you keep on top of completing and returning your forms. Most notably:

imesheets – Weekly paid timesheets need to be checked and sent to T Wages by 12pm on a Monday so payroll can be processed the same day.

Expenses – Your expenses are paid weekly and an approval form must be sent to Wages along with copies of the relevant receipts in order to get them processed and paid efficiently. Mileage – An approved mileage claim needs to be sent to Wages by the 3rd of the month to be paid on the next Friday. Managers: Please ensure claims are approved ahead of, or by this date.

A huge shout out and thank you to everyone who has contributed to building Procore around our RE:GEN activities over recent months. Although there is still a long way to go we have made great progress and your positive attitude towards the software implementation has been fantastic! • For the projects now live on Procore, we have delivered focussed Procore training to all subcontractors and continue to support them in their onboarding. • We will also continue to hold small focussed training

sessions inhouse for RE:GEN staff which is being well received. • Should anyone feel that they need additional support, following these sessions, please get in touch either via phone or email. We have created a dedicated email address: #[email protected] We will also be holding the first Procore steering group very soon, with representatives across all functional areas to share their experiences and give honest feedback to shape and evolve Procore as part of the RE:GEN Way.
