TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Your ancestors waited in faith and courage for God’s promised summons (Wisdom 18:6-9). Psalm — Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own (Psalm 33). Second Reading — By faith Abraham sojourned in the promised land (Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19 [1-2, 8-12]). Gospel — You do not know the day nor the hour when the Son of Man will appear (Luke 12:32-48 [35-40]).

Caballeros de Colón: Si deseas mejorar tu vida personal y espiritual y la de tu familia, Los Caballeros de Colón es un conducto ideal para lograr esta meta. La organización se fundó en 1882 por el Padre Miguel J. McGivney para ayudar a viudas y huérfanos y hoy día es la organización laíca católica mas grande del mundo con mas de 1.7 millones de miembros. Se encuentra en muchos países. Los requisitos principales para ingresar son ser un hombre mayor de 18 años y ser católico practicante como lo entiende la iglesia. Después de que se forme el grupo de hombres, también pueden formar los grupos de las damas y de los muchachos que se llaman Escuderos. Tenemos el orgullo de poder decir que dentro de nuestras filas tenemos a 7 santos, de los cuales 6 son mártires, y tres beatos, todos de origen mexicano y puertorriqueño. Nuestro fundador es siervo de Dios, que indica que su causa para beatificación se está estudiando en la Santa Sede. Hay representantes de esta organización afuera después de las misas hoy con folletos e información de cómo ingresar y cuáles son los beneficios que ofrece esta digna organización.

Casa Kino: La Casa Kino ofrece unas pláticas a partir del 13 de agosto que se llaman “Caminando con San Ignacio de Loyola.” Hay 15 sesiones los martes a las 7:15 PM. Hay mas información en la oficina de la parroquia. Aprende mucho sobre la espiritualidad de San Ignacio de Loyola.

¡¡¡ SACRAMENTOS PARA ADULTOS!!! LAS SESIONES YA EMPEZARON PERO TODACIA HAY TIEMPO PARA INSCRIBIR: Sesiones son los miércoles de 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. en Casa Loyola. Necesitamos certificados de los Sacramentos que han recibido. El costo es $40.00 por año (incluye el libro).  Las sesiones son de 12 semanas a un año depende de las disposición de las persona.  Si la persona no está bautizada, el proceso de RICA es un año. Mesa de la Bienvenida: después de cada misa, nos gustaría tener una mesa con feligreses quienes dan la bienvenida a personas visitando a la parroquia o a nuevos miembros de la parroquia. Tendrán formas de inscripción e información, las listas de actividades en la parroquia y también darán información a los demás feligreses si tienen una pregunta sobre eventos en el futuro.

La Lupita Agencia de Viajes: la parroquia acaba de obtener un Suburban (“La Lupita”) y nos gustaría planear viajes cortitos a sitios de interés espiritual, histórico, cultural, o recreativo para grupos pequeños de nuestros feligreses. Ocupamos un comité para facilitar todo esto.

Comité para Responder al Llamado del Papa Francisco: el Papa nos ha llamado a meternos en el mundo para hacer de ello un lugar mejor, y, mas que todo, un mundo mejor para los mas necesitados y mas vulnerables a la explotación. Nos gustaría formar un comité para desarrollar oportunidades para los feligreses alcanzar con el amor de Cristo a los que necesitan algo de la poca ayuda que podemos proveer.

Grupo de Clavo y Madera: siempre hay una diversidad de proyectos pequeños que tenemos que hacer en la parroquia y ellos necesitan un poquito de la construcción. Este grupo nos ayudaría a decidir qué tenemos que hacer y quién lo puede hacer.

Geeks Apostólicos! Con el proyector, el sonido, la cámara, la publicidad que hemos iniciado, ocupamos personas con habilidades y experiencia en la nueva tecnología de computadoras y media.

YOUTH MINISTRY for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Check your August calendars for all the upcoming youth events. . Time is God’s gift to us. How we use it is our gift to God. Here are some worthwhile ways to spend your time and help us build our life and love for one another at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church! If any of these interest you, talk to Fr. John after Mass or at 619-233-3838 x2 Welcome Table: after each Mass we would like to have a table set up so that visitors or potential new parishioners can stop by for information and registration packets and for our regular parishioners to sign up or pick up information on programs. La Lupita Touring Company: the parish just acquired a Suburban (nicknamed “La Lupita”) and we would like to plan short trips for small groups of parishioners to spiritual, educational, cultural and recreational sites. We need a committee to help plan and facilitate those trips. Responding to Pope Francis Committee: the Holy Father has called us to engage in the world to make it a better place especially for those most in need and most vulnerable to exploitation. We would like to form a committee to help develop opportunities for parishioners to reach out in love to those who could use whatever small help we can provide. Nail and Board Group: there are a variety of small projects that need to be done around the parish that involve light construction. This group would help us decide what to do and who could do it. Jesus Geeks! With the projector and the sound and the camera and publishing that we have started using, we could sure use people with some sort of skills and experience in these areas to help us out!

Spend some time coming to know God!!!! New Proofs for the Existence of God : Beginning Monday, August 19 at 7 PM. 4 Sessions on Mondays (but not Labor Day). Getting It Right from the Beginning: A Bible Study on the Book of Genesis: A 5-week study beginning on Thursday, August 22 at 7:15 PM and Friday, August 23 at 10 AM. Book Club on Chris Haw’s From Willow Creek to Sacred Heart on Wednesday, September 11 at 7 PM.

SACRAMENTS FOR ADULTS!!! FORMATION SESSIONS FOR ADULTS HAVE BEGUN: BUT IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP! Sessions are every Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Casa Loyola. We need certificates of the Sacraments that you have received. The cost for the course is $40.00 per year.  The sessions can be from 12 weeks to a year, depending on the disposition of the person.  If the person is not baptized, the RCIA process is a year. Come join us!!!!
