“When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory” - Colossians 3:4

WHAT DO YOU KNOW? “What do you know?” is the question linking all three readings today. Imagine the shock waves that shot through the city of Jerusalem that first Easter morning. Jesus’ body was missing! By the time Peter spoke the words found in today’s first reading, fifty days had passed, so he began by saying, in effect, “I take it you know what has been reported all over Judea about Jesus of Nazareth.” Of course they knew by then, but in today’s Gospel we are taken back to the first day. We meet Mary Magdalene exclaiming, “We don’t know where they put him!” What do we know? In the second reading Paul asks, “Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough?” Do we know the power of our own faith? Do we know the effect we can have on others?

HAPPY EASTER

CHRIST HAS RISEN Where is your sting, O death? Where is your victory, O hell? Christ has risen, and you are overthrown. Christ has risen, and the demons have fallen. Christ has risen, and the angels rejoice. Christ has risen, and life reigns. Christ has risen, and not one dead rests in the grave. For Christ having risen from the dead became the first-fruits of them that slept. To him be glory and majesty to ages of ages. Amen.

On behalf of the parish staff and the Redemptorists of Holy Ghost, we wish you a blessed Easter. The Easter celebration sums up our faith in the reality that our participation in God’s love cannot be destroyed neither by sin nor death. May the risen Christ reign in your hearts, in your homes and in our world. I pray that the new life of our risen savior brings you joy and peace in this season.

MOTHER’S MASS LEAGUE This year we will celebrate Mother’s Day on May 11th. One of the nicest ways to show how much you care is to enroll that special person in the Mother’s Mass League. Those enrolled in the league will share in a Mass each week from this Mother’s Day to next Mother’s Day. You may enroll your mother, living or deceased, grandmother, aunt, sister or that very special friend. Enrollment cards are available in the rectory office.

HOLY GHOST SCHOOL 2014-2015 REGISTRATION Holy Ghost School is now accepting new students for the 2014-2015 school year. Families may pick up the registration packet at any time between 7:30 am - 3:30 pm in the school office, Monday through Friday. There are openings on all grade levels from PK3 through the 8th Grade. Forms for tuition assistance are also available in the school office.

PLEASE NOTE– RECTORY OFFICE CLOSED The Rectory office will be closed Easter Monday, April 21st. Regular office hours will resume Tuesday, April 22nd. At 8:30 am. DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER A Special Promise of Mercy The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion will obtain complete forgiveness on sins and punishment. Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy. . . I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it. Thus, to fittingly observe the Feast of Mercy, we should: 1) Celebrate the Feast on the Sunday after Easter; 2) Sincerely repent of all our sins; 3) Place our complete trust in Jesus; 4) Go to Confession, preferable before that Sunday; 5) Receive Holy Communion on the day of the Feast; 6) Venerate the Image of the Divine Mercy; 7) Be merciful to others, through our actions, words, and prayers on their behalf.

BLOOD DRIVE SUNDAY, APRIL 27 A special thanks t all of our parishioners who donated blood during our last drive… we had over 50 donations! Our next BLOOD DRIVE is Sunday, April 27th in the Community Center from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is always a shortage of blood, so we really need your continued support for this drive to continue to meet our parish and community goals for the year. What better way to show your “Christian Spirit” then by donating you most precious gift - the “Gift of Life”. ¿QUÉ LES PARECE? “¿Qué les parece?” es la pregunta que une a las tres lecturas de hoy. Imagínense el choque que estremeció a Jerusalén esta primera mañana de Pascua. ¡El cuerpo de Jesús no estaba! Cuando Pedro pronunció las palabras de la primera lectura de hoy, habían pasado cincuenta días y por eso empezó diciendo: “Ustedes saben lo sucedido en toda Judea sobre Jesús de Nazaret . . .” Por supuesto sabían lo ocurrido, pero en el Evangelio de hoy nos transportamos al primer día. Nos encontramos con María Magdalena exclamando: “¡No sabemos dónde lo han puesto!” ¿Qué sabemos nosotros? En la segunda lectura Pablo pregunta: “¿No saben que basta un poco de levadura para transformar toda la masa?” ¿Conocemos el poder de nuestra propia fe? ¿Sabemos el efecto que tenemos en los demás?

DOMINGO DE LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE PASCUA Una Promesa Especial de Misericordia. Todas las almas que se confiesen y reciban la Santa Comunión, obtendrán el perdón total de las culpas y de las penas. El primer Domingo después de la Pascua es la Fiesta de la Divina Misericordia, pero también debe de ser un acto de misericordia. Las condiciones para tener estas bendiciones son: 1) Celebrar la Fiesta el Domingo después de la Pascua; 2) Arrepentirnos sinceramente de nuestros pecados; 3) Confiar totalmente en Jesús; 4) Confesarse preferiblemente antes de ese Domingo; 5) Comulgar en la Fiesta; 6) Venerar la imágen de Cristo de la Misericordia. 7) Ser misericordioso con los demás con nuetras acciones, palabras y orar por ellos

LIGA DE LAS MISAS PARA LAS MADRES El 11 de Mayo, estaremos celebrando el día de las Madres. Una de las maneras de mostrar el amor a esa persona tan especial es inscribiéndola en la liga de misas. Todas las madres inscritas serán incluidas en una misa cada semana durante todo el año. Usted puede inscribir a su mamá, abuelas, tías y amigas vivas o difuntas. Puede recoger su tarjeta de inscripción en la rectoría de la iglesia.
