ANOINTING OF THE SICK The Anointing of the Sick is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. (CCC 1514) If a person is in need of Anointing of the Sick, please call the parish office for a priest at 602-242-1300. If the parish office is closed and there is an immediate danger of death, please call the after-hours emergency number at 602-246-3534. The after-hours number may only be used for life and death emergencies.

PASSION AND PURPOSE FOR MARRIAGE St. Anne Parish in Gilbert is excited to be hosting Dynamic Catholic's Passion and Purpose for Marriage on Saturday, November 14, 2015. This will be the only time that Passion and Purpose for Marriage will be presented in the western half of the United States in all of 2015 and 2016! RELIGIOUS WARES HAND CARVED in BETHLEHEM For sale after all Masses the weekend of November 14th & 15th Ayman Khair will be here selling nativity set, rosaries, statues, crucifixes, charms, etc. and representing about 140 Christian families from Bethlehem. These families have been dependent upon sales of their hand carved religious articles to tourists of the Holy Land. Due to the conflict in the Middle East, the tourism has been cut off. In order to survive, they have turned to Christian communities in the United States to purchase their articles. These hand carved religious articles are beyond description. Carved from wood of the sacred Olive tree, this workmanship has been traditional for these families for hundreds of years. It is hoped that through the efforts of Mr. Khair that these families have a little income and are able to stay living in the Holy Land. Amazingly enough, The Christians population dropped from 22 % to less than 2% in the last 30 years. Thank you in advance for your support. These Religious Articles Make Great Christmas Gifts!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us: “I want you to observe that this poor widow contributed more than all the others who donated to the treasury. They gave from their surplus wealth, but she gave from her want, all that she had to live on.” Last Sunday Nov. I, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul handed out the grocery bags to be filled with food for our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. There was a list of Thanksgiving food items stapled to the bag in hopes that our Ss. Simon and Jude community would respond generously with the food needed for Thanksgiving dinners to be given to poor families in our area. Today, Nov. 8, we will be in the parking lot collecting the filled bags. If you happened to forget to bring back your filled bag, you may bring it during this week to the Parish Office or bring it next Sunday and place it in the back of the Church in the SVdP Food Boxes. One of our Vincentians will be happy to collect them. We would also be happy for any alms in case you forgot the food bag. As we meditate on today’s Gospel, ask yourself, “Am I only giving from my surplus wealth?” Then, put your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box so that those who are suffering will be able to know God’s love, care and mercy. SAN VICENTE DE PAUL En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús nos dice: “Yo les aseguro que esa pobre viuda ha echado en la alcancía más que todos. Porque los demás han echado de lo que les sobraba; pero ésta, en su pobreza ha echado todo lo que tenía para vivir.” El pasado Domingo, 1 de Noviembre, la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl repartió bolsas de mandado para llenarlas con comida para nuestra colecta anual de Acción de Gracias. Había una lista de artículos de comida de Acción de Gracias grapada en la bolsa, con la esperanza de que nuestra comunidad de San Simón y Judas respondiera generosamente con los alimentos necesarios para las cenas de Acción de Gracias, que se darán a las familias necesitadas de nuestra área. Hoy, 8 de Noviembre, estaremos en el estacionamiento colectando las bolsas llenas. Si se le olvidó traer su bolsa llena, puede llevarla durante esta semana a la oficina parroquial o traerla el próximo Domingo y colóquela en la parte posterior de la Iglesia, en las cajas de comida de SVdP. Uno de nuestros Vicentinos le dará mucho gusto recogerlas. También nos dará gusto si deja una ofrenda por si se le olvidó la bolsa de comida. Al meditar en el Evangelio de hoy, pregúntese: “¿Estoy dando solamente de lo que me sobra de mi riqueza?” Luego, coloque su regalo en la Caja de Pobres de San Vicente de Paúl para que aquellos quienes sufren puedan conocer el amor de Dios, la caridad y la misericordia. ¡Dios los bendiga a todos ustedes por su amor y caridad hacia los pobres!
