May 17, 2015, Seventh Sunday of Easter St. Francis of Assisi Parish Mission Statement St. Francis of Assisi Parish is a community of disciples, united through our love of Jesus Christ and our shared Catholic Faith. We joyfully respond to our personal conversion and the call of the Holy Spirit by reflecting the love of the Father through evangelization and service. This coming Thursday we wish to honor all the parishioners who have been involved in any form of parish ministry, parish groups, and parish organizations during this last year. Our Annual Time and Talent Picnic will be our opportunity to thank these volunteers who serve us so well. See the announcement later in this bulletin. Next weekend is the glorious Feast of Pentecost, 50 days after Easter, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. At the vigil Mass on Saturday, we will bestow the sacrament of Confirmation upon fellow Catholic adults. At the 5:00 pm Mass on Sunday we will honor our graduating high school seniors from every high school in our parish. Also next weekend, the Serra Club, a group of men and women dedicated to promoting vocations, are funding a weekend retreat for men and women seeking to discern a possible religious vocation. The Vocation Awareness Program helps single Catholic men and women, ages 18-40, find answers to questions they may have about life as a Priest, Sister, or Brother. The weekend, June 26-28, includes presentations, panel discussions, question and answer sessions, one-on-one personal conferences with diocesan and order Priests, Sisters, and Brothers who volunteer to serve as staff. Private rooms and meals are furnished, and no one will pressure you or seek commitment. Since there are no fees, the Serra Club is conducting a raffle in each parish, and they will be selling raffle tickets in the Foyer of the Great Hall after each Mass. Go to www.vapinfo.org for more information about the retreat. You are invited to the ordination of Paul Iverson who will be our new priest when Fr. Zach leaves June 30. The ordination will be Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 am at the Cathedral, 2215 Ross Ave., Dallas.

El próximo jueves deseamos honorar a todos los feligreses quienes han estado involucrados en cualquier ministerio parroquial, grupos parroquiales, y organizaciones durante este último año. Nuestro Picnic-Comida Anual de Agradecimiento a Nuestros Voluntarios será una oportunidad para dar gracias a esos voluntarios quienes nos sirven. Vean el anuncio en el interior de este boletín. El próximo fin de semana es la gloriosa Fiesta de Pentecostés, 50 días después de Pascua, cuando el Espíritu Santo descendió entre los Apóstoles. También el próximo fin de semana, el Club Serra, un grupo de hombres y mujeres dedicados a promover vocaciones, están financiando un retiro de fin de semana para hombres y mujeres buscando discernir una posible vocación religiosa. El Programa de Vocaciones ayuda a solteros hombres y mujeres católicos, entre 18 y 40 años, a encontrar respuestas a preguntas que puedan tener sobre la vida de un Sacerdote, Religiosa, o Hermano. El fin de semana del 26 al 28 de junio incluye presentaciones, panel de discusión, sesiones de preguntas y respuestas, y conferencias uno a uno con Sacerdotes, Religiosas, y Hermanos diocesanos y de ordenes quienes son voluntarios que sirven como colaboradores. Salones privados y comidas son ofrecidas, y nadie los presionará o los comprometerá.
