Sometimes the signs God gives are unmistakable. Sometimes the signs are not so obvious.

What signs do we see when we look around us? Sometimes it is hard to see God's signs because the signs of the world are more present and LARGE. How many times this month have you seen signs that say: "ONLY 20 (or 18, or 10, or 6…) MORE SHOPPING DAYS 'TIL CHRISTMAS." Do we ever stop to think,

"How many praying days left until Christmas?" Lord, our God, we praise You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, for He is Emmanuel, the Hope of all people. He is the Wisdom that teaches and guides us. He is the Savior of us all. O Lord, let your blessing come upon us as we light all candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ's promise of salvation. May He come quickly and not delay. We ask this in His holy name. Amen.

Take the Gospel home with you! Share a conversation with the family on the car ride home or at dinner tonight.

Today’s Gospel is a beautiful example of how to trust in God. Joseph, although he had every reason to divorce Mary, chose not to do so. He could have backed out of their engagement or had her stoned to death because he found out she was pregnant outside of marriage, but instead he takes her into his home. Why does he do something most people of the time would not do? Because the angel told him that Mary’s son was God and that He would save people from their sins. Joseph probably did not understand everything the angel was saying or how it would happen, but he still followed God’s will and did what the angel asked of him. He could not have imagined what was to come, how they would raise Jesus, or what blessings and challenges would arise in the future, but he still said “yes” to God. Just as Mary said “yes” to God to have Jesus, Joseph also gave up his own plans for God’s more glorious plans. In doing so, God’s plan of salvation, that had been prophesied throughout the Old Testament, was coming to life. There are times in our life when God also asks us to do difficult things. Even when we don’t understand what will happen, how it will work, or what the effects will be, we still are called to be just like Joseph in today’s Gospel. We need to trust God and know that He has our best interests in mind. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in your life and for help to trust in His wonderful plans. ¡Traiga el Evangelio a casa! El Evangelio de hoy es un hermoso ejemplo del confiar en Dios. José, aunque tenía todas las razones para divorciarse de María, escogió no hacerlo. Podría haber roto el compromiso o tenerla apedreada hasta la muerte porque descubrió que estaba embarazada fuera del matrimonio, pero en lugar de eso decidió traerla a su casa. ¿Por qué hace algo que la mayoría de la gente de esa época no haría? Porque el ángel le dijo que el hijo de María era Dios y que Él le salvaría a la gente de sus pecados. José probablemente no entendía todo lo que dijo el ángel o como pasaría, pero todavía siguió la voluntad de Dios y hizo lo que el ángel le pidió. No podría haber imaginado lo que pasaría en el futuro, como criaría a Jesús, ni las bendiciones ni desafíos que surgirían en el futuro, pero todavía dijo “sí” a Dios. Tal como María dijo “sí” a Dios a recibir a Jesús, José también abandonó sus propios planes para los planes más gloriosos de Dios. En hacer eso, el plan de salvación de Dios, del cual fue profetizado en el Antiguo Testamento, estaba viniendo a la tierra. Hay momentos en nuestra vida en que Dios también nos pide hacer cosas difíciles. Aún si no entendemos lo que pasará, como podrá pasar, ni qué serán los efectos, todavía somos llamados ser igual como José en el Evangelio de hoy. Necesitamos confiar en Dios y saber que Él tiene en cuenta nuestro bien. Ruega al Espíritu Santo a guiarte en tu vida y ayudarte a confiar en Sus planes maravillosos.

Altar Servers Ministry Are you interested in being an Altar Server? If you have received your First Communion, attend Mass regularly, and are in 5th grade or older (including adults), you should consider if God is calling you to serve as an Altar Server at Mass! No prior experience is necessary.

How would you like a 5 Course Dinner for you and 5 of your friends prepared & served by your pastor in the RCC Rectory Dining Room?
