Baptism Requirements Here are the requirements to have your child baptized at St. Catherine of Siena: 1. Parents are asked to attend Mass regularly and participate in the life of the church. 2. Attend a scheduled registration class. 3. Donation of $75.00 for one child or $100.00 for two or more children, per family. 4. Attend a preparation class for the Sacrament of Baptism. 5. Choose appropriate Godparent(s) who is practicing the faith and is in communion with the Catholic Church.  Must be 16 years of age or older  Have all Sacraments: Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation.  If the Godparent(s) is married, their Marriage must have been celebrated in the Catholic Church.  If single, the Godparent(s) must be living a life of Chastity and goodness. 6. Estos son los requisitos para bautizar en Santa Catalina deSiena: Se les pide a los Padres que asistan a Misa regularmente y que participen en la vida de la Iglesia. Asistir a la registración Bautismal. Asistir a la clase de preparación para el Sacramento de Bautismo en St. Catherine/otra Iglesia Católica. Escoger Padrinos apropiados. Tiene que estar practicando la Fe Católica.  Padrinos necesitan ser mayores de 16 años.  Tener todos sus sacramentos: Bautizo, Primera Comunión, y Confirmación y traer los certificados de estos.  Si los Padrinos son pareja, necesitan estar casados en la Iglesia Católica.  Sin son solteros, no pueden estar viviendo en unión libre con nadie y vivir una vida casta. Los padres necesitan prometer que su hijo será educado en la Fe Católica. Para registrar a sus hijos necesitan: 1. Donación de $75.00 por un niño(a) o $100.00 por dos niños o más por familia (no-reembolsable). 2. Estar registrados en la Iglesia a donde asisten a Misa y traer una carta de permiso para bautizar en otra Iglesia. 3. Acta de nacimiento. 4. Documentos Sacramentales de los padrinos. SUFRIMIENTO parte 1 Como hacer de la peor de las desgracias en nuestras vidas nuestra mayor felicidad Por Fr. Paul O'Sullivan, O.P. El sufrimiento es el gran problema de la vida humana. Todos tenemos que sufrir. A veces las aflicciones que nos tocan son pequeñas, a veces son grandes. Ahora debemos decirle a nuestros lectores cómo evitar gran parte de este sufrimiento, cómo disminuir todo sufrimiento y cómo obtener grandes beneficios de cada sufrimiento que debemos sobrellevar. La razón por la cual el sufrimiento parece tan difícil es que, en primer lugar, no se nos enseña cómo sobrellevarlo. En tercer lugar, no se nos enseña el valor incalculable del sufrimiento. Esto se debe a la incomprensible negligencia de parte de nuestros maestros. Es sorprendente la facilidad con la que algunas personas sobrellevan grandes sufrimientos; mientras otras, se afectan incluso ante el inconveniente más pequeño. La simple razón es que a algunos se les ha enseñado todo acerca del sufrimiento y a otros no. EL SUFRIMIENTO NO ES TAN MALO COMO CREEMOS Antes que nada, entonces, el sufrimiento no es simplemente un mal, porque nadie sufrió más que EL mismo Hijo de Dios, más que su Bendita Madre o más que los Santos. Todo sufrimiento viene de Dios. Puede parecernos que viene por casualidad o accidente de alguna otra persona, pero en realidad, todo sufrimiento nos llega de Dios. Nada nos pasa sin Su deseo o permiso. Ni siquiera se nos cae un pelo de la cabeza sin su consentimiento. ¿Por qué permite Dios que suframos? Simplemente porque Él nos está pidiendo que compartamos un poco de su Pasión. Lo que parece provenir por casualidad o de otra persona siempre viene porque Dios lo permite. Todo acto en la Vida de Nuestro Señor fue una lección para nosotros. El mayor acto en Su vida fue Su Pasión. Esta, entonces, es la mayor lección para nosotros. Nos enseña que también nosotros debemos sufrir. Dios sufrió todas las penas horrorosas de Su Pasión para cada uno de nosotros. ¿Cómo podemos negarnos a sufrir un poco por amor a El? EL SUFRIMIENTO ES EL ORO EN NUESTRAS VIDAS En segundo lugar, si aceptamos el sufrimiento que Él nos envía y ofrecemos los nuestros en unión con Sus sufrimientos, recibiremos las mayores recompensas. Cinco minutos de sufrimiento que se sobrellevan por amor a Jesu son de más valor para nosotros que años y años de placer y gozo. Los Santos nos dicen que si sobrellevamos pacientemente nuestros sufrimientos, nos merecemos la corona del martirio. Además el sufrimiento que se sobrelleva pacientemente hace surgir todo aquello que es bueno en nosotros. Aquellas personas que han sufrido son generalmente las más encantadoras. Si tenemos en mente estos hechos con claridad, es verdaderamente mucho más fácil sufrir. DIOS SIEMPRE NOS DA FORTALEZA PARA SOBRELLEVAR LOS SUFRIMIENTOS En tereer lugar, cuando Dios nos da un sufrimiento, siempre nos da la fortaleza para sobrellevarlo, con tan sólo pedírselo. Mucha gente, en lugar de pedir Su ayuda, se molestan y revelan: Son esta impaciencia y malestar las que realmente hacen que el sufrimiento sea difícil de sobrellevar. Considera que ahora estamos hablando de todo sufrimiento, incluso los más insignificantes. Todos tenemos nuestros pequeños problemas, dolores, desilusiones, todos los días de nuestras vidas. Todos ellos, si se sobrellevan por amor a Dios, hacen que obtengamos, como hemos dicho, las mayores recompensas. CÓMO SOBRELLEVAR ELSUFRIMIENTO Incluso los mayores sufrimientos que nos pueden tocar de vez en cuando se vuelven fáciles de sobrellevar si los aceptamos con serenidad y paciencia. Lo que hace que el sufrimiento sea realmente difícil de sobrellevar es nuestra propia impaciencia, nuestra rebeldía, nuestra negación de aceptarlo. Esta irritación incrementa nuestro sufrimiento cientos de veces y, además, nos roba todo el mérito que podríamos haber ganado. Vemos que algunas personas atraviesan una tempestad de sufrimiento con la mayor calma y serenidad; mientras que otras se irritan ante el menor inconveniente o desilusión. Todos podemos aprender a tener esta calma y paciencia. Es el secreto de la felicidad. Un médico eminente, en una conferencia que dio a científicos destacados y colegas doctores, les dijo que debía todo su gran éxito en la vida al simple hecho de que había corregido sus hábitos de impaciencia y enojo que habían estado destruyendo todas sus energías y actividad. SUFFERING part 1 How to Make the Greatest Evil in Our Lives Our Greatest Happiness by Fr. Paul O'Sullivan, O.P. Suffering is the great problem of human life. We all have to suffer. Sometimes small sorrows, sometimes greater ones fall to our share. We shall now tell our readers how to avoid much of this suffering, how to lessen all suffering and how to derive great benefits from every suffering we may have to bear. The reason why suffering appears so hard is that, first of all, we are not taught what suffering is. Secondly, we are not taught how to bear it. Thirdly, we are not taught the priceless value of suffering. This is due to the incomprehensible neglect on the part of our teachers. It is surprising how easily some people bear great sufferings; whereas, others get excited even at the smallest trouble. The simple reason is that some have been taught all about suffering; others have not. SUFFERING IS NOT THE EVIL WE THINK IT IS First of all, then, suffering is not simply an evil, for no one suffered more than the Son of God Himself, more than His Blessed Mother or more than the Saints. Every suffering comes from God. It may appear to come to us by chance or accident or from someone else, but in reality, every suffering comes to us from God. Nothing happens to us without His wish or permission. Not even a hair falls from our heads without His consent. Why does God allow us to suffer? Simply because He is asking us to take a little share in His Passion. What appears to come by chance or from someone else always comes because God allows it. Every act in Our Lord's Life was a lesson for us. The greatest act in His life was His Passion. This, then, is the greatest lesson for us. It teaches us that we too must suffer. God suffered all the dreadful pains of His Passion for each one of us. How can we refuse to suffer a little for love of Him? SUFFERING IS THE GOLD IN OUR LIVES Secondly, if we accept the suffering He sends us and offer them in union with His sufferings, we receive the greatest rewards. Five minutes' suffering borne for love of Jesus is of greater value to us than years and years of pleasure and joy. The Saints tell us that if we patiently bear our sufferings, we merit the crown of martyrdom. Moreover, suffering borne patiently brings out all that is good in us. Those who have suffered are usually the most charming people. If we bear these facts clearly in mind, it certainly becomes much easier to suffer. GOD ALWAYS GIVES STRENGTH TO BEAR OUR SUFFERINGS Thirdly, when God gives us any suffering, He always gives us strength to bear it, if we only ask Him. Many, instead of asking for His help, get excited and revolt. It is this excitement and impatience that really make suffering hard to bear. Consider that we are now speaking of all suffering, even the most trifling ones. All of us have little troubles, pains, disappointments, every day of our lives. All these, if borne for love of God, obtain for us, as we have said, the greatest rewards. HOW TO BEAR SUFFERING Even the greater sufferings that may fall to our share from time to time become easy to bear if we accept them with serenity and patience. What really makes suffering difficult to bear is our own impatience, our revolt, our refusal to accept it. This irritation increases our sufferings a hundred fold and, besides, robs us of all the merit we could have gained thereby. We see some people pass through a tempest of suffering with the greatest calm and serenity; whereas, others get irritated at the slightest annoyance or disappointment. We can all learn this calm and patience. It is the secret of happiness. An eminent physician, in a conference which he gave to distinguished scientists and fellow doctors, told them that he owed all his great success in life to the simple fact that he had corrected his habit of impatience and annoyance, which had been destroying all his energy and activity. School Mass/School Brunch – Sunday, April 28th We are changing our School Mass/School Dinner to a School Mass/School Bruch for 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, April 28th. We will go to Mass at 10:00 a.m. in our school uniforms and have brunch in the cafeteria after Mass. For interested families we will have an Open House at 12:00 and then after 12:00 Mass, as well.
