The success that St. Mary of Celle has achieved so far is a result of the Total Pledged: $ 291,770 generosity of our parishioners. As we come to a close of active soliciting for the campaign, Percentage of Goal: 66% St. Mary of Celle is still accepting commitments from the rest of the families that needed Number of Pledges: 148 more time to prayerfully consider supporting this campaign that is greatly going to benefit Average Gift: $1,971 our parish. With the amount pledged we are able to check a couple needs off our list once we have enough to do so but not all. I thank the 148 families that have believed in what we can accomplish with this cam‐ paign in our parish and also in the whole Archdiocese. Your Campaign Pledge: Frequently Asked Questions Q: How long will it take for the campaign’s processing center to receive my Commitment Card? A: It can take between four to six weeks for it to be received and processed. Q: When can I expect to receive an acknowledgement letter for my gift? A: You should receive an acknowledgement letter in six to eight weeks after filling out your Commitment Card. If you have not received an acknowledgement letter after this period of time, please contact the campaign office at 312‐534‐8500. Q: How should I make payments on my pledge? A: You will receive a reminder letter in the mail with an envelope to mail in your payment. Please do not bring payments to the parish. Gifts should be made payable to To Teach Who Christ Is and mailed to the processing center: Archdiocese of Chicago Gift Processing; PO Box 7256; Kensington, CT 06037‐9902 Since the campaign will receive as many as 100,000 pledged gifts by the end of the campaign, we recommend donors con‐ sider fulfilling pledges using a credit card or an automatic bank withdrawal to cut back on postage and operational expenses. Q: What if I need to change the amount of my pledge, frequency of payment, or method of payment? Seguimiento de Nuestro E´xito Meta parroquial: $ 445,000 Gracias a las familias que tomaron el tiempo para comprometerse la semana Comprometido: $ 291,770 pasada durante los domingos de compromiso. SUMMONED BY GOD / LLAMADOS POR DIOS As Christmas draws near, Advent's scriptures lure us into a world of dreams, signs, wonders, and the mira‐ cle of the virgin birth. Too often we allow the great sto‐ ries of our faith, the ones that are most familiar, simply to wash over us. Today's Gospel account of the events leading up to the birth of the Lord reads like a present‐day soap opera. Yet Joseph's courage, even in the midst of what must have been an incredibly confusing time, provides a model for us. Each week, we are sum‐ moned by God to embrace the way of goodness and truth through the proclamation of God's holy word. Like Joseph, we are called to do as the Lord commands us. As we stand at the threshold of Christmas, let us have the courage to be open to whatever it is that the Lord will require of us as we celebrate the miracle of Bethlehem. © J. S. Paluch Co.

Al acercarse la Navidad, las Escrituras del Adviento nos llevan a un mundo de sueños, señales, maravillas y el milagro del nacimiento de una virgen. Muchas veces dejamos que los grandes relatos de nuestra fe, los que son más conocidos, simple‐ mente nos pasen sin sentirlos. El relato del Evangelio de hoy sobre los acontecimientos previos al nacimiento del Señor parece una tele‐ novela actual. Sin embargo, la valentía de José, aun en medio de una época que debe haber sido increíblemente confusa, nos brinda un modelo a seguir. Cada semana, Dios nos llama a aceptar el camino de la bondad y la verdad por medio de la proclamación de la Palabra sagrada de Dios. Como José, somos llamados a hacer lo que el Señor nos ordena. Mientras estamos en el umbral de la Navidad, tengamos la valentía para estar abiertos a lo que sea, a lo que el Señor requiera de nosotros durante nuestra celebración del milagro de Belén. © J. S. OPLATKI AVAILABLE One religious family custom of Christmas is the sharing of the Oplatki Christmas Wafer. The thin wafer is bro‐ ken by the head of the family and distributed to each person at the table, wishing them a joyful feast. Family mem‐ bers then greet one another in the same way. The lesson in this age‐old custom is the unity of the family. Customs remind us that we seek and obtain salvation with the help of others at all times. The Oplatki Christmas wafers are available at the rectory for a free‐will donation.
