FEAST OF ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM- Today, September 13th, is the Feast of our patron, St. John Chrysostom. Since the feast is a Solemnity in our own parish it will be celebrated at all the Sunday Masses using the prayers and readings of the feast day rather those of the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time. This is a wonderful opportunity for us as it is rare that the feast falls on a Sunday. There is a special insert about the life of St. John Chrysostom in today’s Sunday’s bulletin. Please note that the readings and prayers for today’s Mass are NOT found in the missalette. GROUP WEDDING – For the last 8 years we have offered the opportunity to couples who are married civilly but have not received the Sacrament of Matrimony the option of a “Group Wedding”. On Monday, Sept. 28th I will hold an Information Night in the church to offer all details, distribute applications and answer questions. If you are in a situation where you are civilly married or just living together without marriage, please consider the call of the Lord to the Sacrament of Matrimony. If you have friends or relatives in this situation, encourage them to come and get the necessary information. Don’t miss this opportunity! There is no cost! TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT MEETING – This coming Tuesday, Sept. 15th at 7:00 p.m. the City of Inglewood is having a special meeting regarding the transit, housing and business development planned for the downtown section of Inglewood (Market Street). Our parish is hosting the meeting in the Parish Hall. Everyone is invited to attend. LAST CHANCE FOR REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES – Our program of Religious Education begins next week so this is the last call for registration for classes. These classes are designed for children who do not attend a Catholic school. Starting with first grade and going to tenth grade we provide classes at each level. If you have a child who is entering the first grade then now is the time to register for First Communion. If your child has already received First Communion then he may continue on for ongoing classes. If you have a teenager entering the ninth grade then now is the time to register for Confirmation class. Please see further information elsewhere in this bulletin. TRAINING FOR NEW ALTAR SERVERS - If you have a child in grades 4 and up, he is eligible to become an Altar Server. We will be having training for new Altar Servers later this month and in October. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please stop by the rectory to fill out a registration form within the next two weeks. Serving at the altar is a tremendous privilege for a child. It allows him to: - develop a closer relationship with God - have a better understanding of the Mass - learn reverence and discipline - learn to have a spirit of cooperation with others - get to know the parish priests and consider a priestly or Religious vocation The way I like to think of service at the altar is to remember the Last Supper. Our Lord was there with the Apostles. However, there were others who were there as well and who assisted: those who prepared the meal, those who served it and those who cleaned up. What a privilege it must have been for them to be so close to Our Lord and the Apostles and serve them on such a momentous night! In a similar way, our altar servers are those who serve Our Lord in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and are so close to the Holy of Holies. Let us encourage our children to take part in this “most beautiful thing this side of Heaven.” Please stop by the rectory and fill out the registration form. FIESTA DE SAN. JUAN CRISOSTOMO- Hoy, 13 de septiembre, es la fiesta de nuestro patrón, San Juan Crisóstomo. Como la fiesta es una solemnidad en nuestra propia parroquia se celebrará en todas las Misas dominicales utilizando las oraciones y lecturas de la fiesta en lugar de las del 24o Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Esta es una oportunidad maravillosa para nosotros, ya que es raro que la fiesta caiga en domingo. Hay un volante especial sobre la vida de San Juan Crisóstomo en el boletín de hoy. Tenga en cuenta que las lecturas y oraciones para la Misa de hoy No se encuentran en el Misal. Sin embargo, hubieron otros que estaban allí también y quien asistieron: los que prepararon la comida, los que sirvieron y los que limpiaron. ¡Qué privilegio debe haber sido para ellos al estar tan cerca a Nuestro Señor y a los Apóstoles y servirles en esa noche tan memorable! De manera similar, nuestros monaguillos son los que sirven a nuestro Señor en el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa y están tan cerca del Sagrado de los Sagrados. Vamos a animar a nuestros hijos a participar en esta "cosa más hermosa al este lado del cielo." Por favor pase por la rectoría y llene el formulario de inscripción. Vigésimo-Cuarto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario INFANT BAPTISMS FREE!

Here at St. John Chrysostom’s we have Baptisms every first and third Saturday in Spanish and every second and fourth Saturday of the month in English. In order to encourage parents to baptize their children as soon as possible, which is what the law of the Church desires, all fees will be waived when a baby is presented for Baptism within the first month of his birth. The Church teaches that a child should be baptized as soon as possible after birth so please stop by the rectory to register your baby for Baptism two months before the due date. That way, after the birth, the baptism is already scheduled.

Con el fin de motivar a los padres a bautizar sus hijos lo más rápido posible después del nacimiento, no se pedirá ningún donativo cuando se presenta un bebé para Bautismo dentro de su primer mes de nacimiento.
