ST. JULIANA CATHOLIC CHURCH – IGLESIA CATÓLICA SANTA JULIANA WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA MARCH 25, 2012 – 25 DE MARZO, 2012 SIR, WE WANT TO SEE JESUS
SEÑOR, QUISIÉRAMOS VER A JESÚS
When the Greeks approach Philip, asking to see Jesus, they represent the entire Gentile world. Jesus is to be the Savior of all. Jesus’ response seems very confusing. He does not take the approach we would find logical when we learn that we have made the big time. He doesn’t grant the Greeks an interview, hoping that 60 Minutes will be the next to call. Instead, he speaks to His disciples of the glorification that He is to experience, a glorification that will require His suffering and death. As the Holy Father visits Mexico and Cuba in these days, he will certainly seek to help the people of both suffering countries to see the face of Jesus, precisely in their share of His cross, and he will help them (and us) to trust that “the time of judgment” has come upon the powers of this world. As Jesus “learned obedience through suffering,” so too those who suffer as they attempt to obey Christ will indeed find in Him the source of eternal salvation. If we want to see Jesus, we know where to look. We see Him on the journey to the Calvary. We see Him in all our brothers and sisters who are experiencing the Passion of Jesus themselves. We see Him when we join our own sufferings to His cross. We see Him on the Cross.
Si queremos ver a Jesús, sabemos dónde mirar.
