Ash Wednesday, February 10th and Good Friday, March 25th, 2016, are the days of fasting and abstinence. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. Fasting, almsgiving and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously, in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter .

El Miércoles de Ceniza, 10 de febrero y el Viernes Santo, 25 de marzo 2016, son los días de ayuno y abstinencia. Los viernes de Cuaresma son también días de abstinencia. El ayuno, la limosna y la oración son las tres disciplinas tradicionales de la Cuaresma. Los fieles y catecúmenos deben realizar estas prácticas seriamente, con un espíritu de penitencia y de preparación para el bautismo o de la renovación del bautismo

Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On the day of fast ing one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed. Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fasting and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted.

El ayuno debe ser observado por todos los adultos de 18 años de edad en adelante y que aún no haya celebrado su cumpleaños número 59. En un día de ayuno se permite una comida completa. Las otras dos comidas, deberán de ser lo suficientes para mantener las fuerzas, todo de acuerdo a las necesidades de cada uno, pero en conjunto no deben igualar una comida completa. OUR PARISH’/NUESTRA PARROQUIA Jésus, assis dans la barque de Pierre

mission sera de représenter ce que Jésus a fait le premier: assis dans la barque de Pierre, “il enseignait la foule” trop vaste pour qu'on puisse la rejoindre autrement. Saint Luc note la présence de quelques-uns des Douze qui recevront bientôt le nom d'apôtres (6, 13). Au centre, Simon-Pierre tient le rôle-clé.. C'est la structure de l'Église, qui peut parfois nous plaire ou nous agacer, mais qui nous vient de Jésus. Souvenons-nous que, dimanche dernier, devant le côté trop humain du “fils de Joseph”, ses concitoyens de Nazareth se sont délibérément excloyaume.Simon n'est ni le propriétaire, ni le gérant, ni le supérieur de l'Église. Comme Isaïe (6, 7), loin de rechercher sa fonction, il se déclare pécheur et la suite de l'évangile y reviendra souvent. Comme serviteur des autres disciples, il aura pour mission de représenter, sacramentellement, le Christ-Serviteur. De la même manière, le sacerdoce est signe et sacrement de Jésus Christ. Comme ose l'affirmer le dernier Concile, “Jésus est là, dans les actions liturgiques, présent dans la personne du ministre... C'est lui qui parle quand on lit les Saintes Écritures... C'est lui qui baptise lorsque quelqu'un baptise... La liturgie est l'exercice de la fonction sacerdotale de Jésus, signifiée par des signes sensibles... Mais la barque de Pierre est-elle un signe trop humain? “Avance au large”, commande Jésus. Une fois de plus, la traduction est faible: en grec, eis to bathos veut dire en eau profonde. Le Christ parle de l'abîme qui représentait, à l'époque, le domaine des monstres infernaux. Lorsqu'il dit à Pierre: “Sois sans crainte, désormais ce sont des hommes que tu prendras”, il associe la barque à sa mission de Sauveur: le rôle de l'Église sera de sauver les humains des abîmes de la mort. En fait, le vrai miracle d'aujourd'hui n'est pas la pêche en haute mer, car si le métier de pêcheur est déjà périlleux, le plus grand risque que prennent les premiers disciples est de suivre Jésus dans la foi, en laissant tout le reste. La première marque de l'Église sera donc sa confiance au Messie-Sauveur.
