R.C.I.A. Scripture tells us about “Three Kings” who come to see the baby Jesus. Matthew’s story call them Magi, a kind of combination of scholar and soothsayer or diviner. They read the stars to look for the hand of God. When they see a star never seen before, they leave the comfort of their homes, take a long trip and outwit a king anxious for his crown, all to look for the hand of God. Not know where they are going or what they will find when they get there, they become model believers and seekers of the truth. Faith is always a venture into the unknown; of letting the Spirit come into our comfortable lives and shake them up. The Magi find Jesus by using their talents and the science available to them. This is what the RCIA process is all about. You are invited, like the Magi, to be seekers by exploring the RCIA process during this new year. For information on RCIA, please call the Faith Formation Office at 433-2777 ext. 138 or Martin Schott at 521-9079.

LIFE TEEN “LIFE NIGHTS” PARENTAL NOTICE Parents, below is a list of topics that your MESSAGE youth will be discussing. We would ask FOR PARENTS that you discuss these topics with your teens. Questions? Contact Liz Ortiz at 433-2777 ext. 119 or attend any of the Life Nights. Parents are always welcome. 1/15 NO LIFE NIGHT DUE TO THE MLK HOLIDAY; JOIN US AT THE MARCH! 1/22 LIFE NIGHT TOPIC: IN PURSUIT Welcome to our semester on morality! This will be an exciting semester where we will look not only at the Ten Commandments but also at God’s plan for our happiness. Yes, there is sin in this world, but God’s law guides us away from sin and challenges us to live according to His plan for our freedom. Spend a few minutes this week discussing with your teen(s) their thoughts on morality. Here are a few questions to get the conversation started: 1. When you think about morality, what comes to mind? 2. Why do you think God put laws into place? 3. To you, what is the difference between Godly happiness and worldly happiness?
