The other day a parishioner stopped in to talk and was surprised that the rectory no longer has a house cleaner, or a cook, other than three times a month for community dinners with the Villanova Prep Augustinians. If you look at the bulletin financials you will see that salaries were cut by a substantial margin. Additionally the electric bill has been cut in half by reprogramming lights and A/C only to times when people are actually using the facilities. As I ask you to increase your Sunday contribution I am also trying my best to be a good steward of your generosity. Any feedback or suggestions would be most appreciated as we struggle to balance the budget together. Just call me at 646-4338. Thanks. COLUMBARIUM

El otro día un feligrés se detuvo a hablar y se sorprendió de que la rectoría ya no tiene una casa más limpia , o un cocinero, otro de tres veces al mes para las cenas de la comunidad con el Prep Agustinos Villanova . Si nos fijamos en los datos financieros de anuncios , verá que los salarios se redujeron en un margen sustancial . Some parishioners have suggested some additional means of increasing revenues. I appreciate your ideas. Before I ask the Bishop to formally write to the Archbishop for permission, I would like to get your input on an intriguing idea: Many people realize the increasing cost of burials and so cremation becomes more common. Catholics should bury their loved ones in blessed places approved by the Archdiocese. As these approved places are filling up, and Oxnard appears to be the closest cemetery, there seems to be a need to build a Columbarium here at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish for the urns of cremated parishioners. If you thought this was needed, and if Archbishop Gomez approved, the Mass of Resurrection, reception and internment would all take place right here. And it could be less expensive. Please give this unique idea some thought and call the office at the above # to give me your opinion. Only if there is positive interest will I go through the complicated process of pursuing it with the Archdiocese people. Continue to pray for your beloved dead. If they are in Heaven they will be praying for you. The Communion of Saints is one of the many uniquely Catholic blessings. Fr. Tom

Luke 12: 32-48 Adult: Do you talk with other people about heaven? What do you say? Child: Has someone in your family or among your friends died? Do you think about that person in heaven? What do you hope to talk about with this person?

What is ‘relational bullying’? Relational bullying is unwarranted, persistent, unwelcome behavior in the form of criticism, isolation, or fabricated allegations that can damage relationships. Examples include social exclusion (“You can’t be with us”), spreading rumors (“Did you hear…?), and withholding friendship (“I won’t be your friend if you…”). Though relational bullying can often seem ambiguous to outside observers and often garners less attention than physical bullying or verbal bullying, it should not be discounted simply as normal, adolescent behavior. In fact, several recent studies suggest relational bullying is more strongly related to emotional distress and teen depression than any other form of bullying. Make sure your child’s school does not tolerate such behavior among its students.

¿Qué es un “fanfarrón relacional”? Fanfarronear en las relaciones es un comportamiento desagradable, injustificado, cruel y persistente, que puede destruir las buenas relaciones por medio de la crítica, el aislamiento, o alegatos fabricados. Los ejemplos incluyen la exclusión social (“Tú no puedes estar con nosotros”), lanzamiento de rumores (“¿Ya saben que...?”), retirar la amistad (“Ya no seré más tu amigo si...”). Aunque este comportamiento puede parecer ambiguo a un observador distante y llama menos la atención que el fanfarroneo físico, tampoco se debería de minimizar como un comportamiento normal entre adolescentes. Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, go back into my memory as I sleep. Every hurt that has ever been done to me -- heal that hurt. Every hurt that I have ever caused to another person -- heal that hurt. All the relationships that have been damaged in my whole life that I'm not aware of -- heal those relationships. But Lord, if there is anything that I need to do; if I need to go to a person because they are still suffering from my hand, bring to my awareness that person. I choose to forgive and I ask to be forgiven. Remove whatever bitterness may be in my heart, Lord, and fill the empty spaces with your love. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen.
