CATECHISM REGISTRATION FOR CHILDREN 2016-2017 It’s registration time for this year’s Religious Education Program! Dear parents, as you know, you are the first educators of the faith of your children. The parish supplements your mission with extra help which are the Catechism classes for your children. We want to do our best to help you transmit the faith onto your children! The children last year were very pleased and willing to participate and many said that it was their favorite class of the week. Pray that this year the Lord may help us to provide a solid program of catechesis and we may continue providing formation for our children and young people in the school of faith and love! For children from kindergarten to eighth grade classes will begin on September 17th. The Religious education registr ation forms can be found at the back part of the Church. Please fill a form for each child and bring it to us on the following dates: - Sunday, August 21, from 9:00 am-11:00 am and from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm at the Parish Hall. - Sunday, August 28, from 9:00 am-11:00 am at the Parish Hall. We kindly ask you to bring at the time of registration: -The child’s birth certificate — if your child is unbaptized and is 7 years of age or above -The child’s baptismal certificate — if your child is going to receive First Communion this year. (if your son/daughter was baptized at St. Joseph’s, just give us the date of your child’s baptism) -Registration fee. Last year we ended up having a debt of sever al thousand dollar s due to the fact that the income entries for the payment of Religious education classes were insufficient to cover the cost of the program. We don’t want this to happen again. We cannot at this moment impose economical burdens onto the parish. It is important for parents to support financially their children’s formation in the faith. In order to avoid debts and to be able to keep up with increased program costs (books, activities during the year, purchase of new materials, electrical bills, heating, maintenance, etc) the registration fees for this year Religious Education Program will be as follows: $50 - for 1 child $80 - for 2 children $100 - for 3 or more children You have different payment options: you can either make 1 payment of $50; or 2 payments of $25 (August and September); or 3 payments ($15, $15, and $20 in Aug, Sep and Oct.) YOUTH CONFIRMATION Confirmation classes for young people under 18 years of age (grades 9-12) will begin in October (the date of the classes will be announced later). We ask everyone to register, like the rest of the children as explained above. The registration fees are also the same. Following the guidelines of the Archdiocese, the Confirmation Program is 2 years of catechesis: Confirmation 1 and Confirmation 2. Young people who begin this year will be in Confirmation 1. Those who already took classes with us last year, will be in Confirmation 2 and, God willing, will receive Confirmation on June 2nd, 2017.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE

(conversation and grammar: course 21 hours intensive)

We will offer a course in Spanish to the couples that are interested in receiving the sacrament of marriage. It will take place on the second week of August, for more information call the rectory or ask in the book table after the Masses.

ADULT CONFIRMATION We invite all people over 18 years old who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation, to please register in order to receive this sacrament the upcoming year. Remember that one of the requirements to be a godfather or godmother in baptism, is to be confirmed. All those interested will have to receive faith formation in order to prepare for the sacrament. There are 2 formation options:

ASSUMPTION FEAST On Monday, August 15th we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Although Mass attendance is recommended, this year it’s not a holy day of obligation. THANK YOU NOTE We thank the Salvadorians brothers and sisters of our community who gave a donation of $1,983 to the parish from the celebration of their feast of “Divino Salvador del Mundo” last Sunday.

This weekend we will have two priests, Fr. Pat Universal and Father Joseph Gaudet, who will accompany us in the Masses and will talk about the missions in the Diocese of Siquani, Peru. INSCRIPCIÓN CATECISMO DE NIÑOS 2016-2017 ¡Ha llegado el tiempo de las inscripciones para el catecismo de los niños de este nuevo año! Queridos padres, ustedes son los primeros educadores de la fe de sus hijos. La parroquia suplementa vuestra misión con un apoyo extra que son las clases del catecismo de los niños. ¡Y lo queremos hacer lo mejor que podamos! Los niños el año pasado estaban muy contentos y dispuestos a participar y muchos decían que era su clase favorita de la semana. ¡Oren para que este año nos ayude el Señor a ofrecer un sólido programa de catequesis y seguir así formando a nuestros niños y jóvenes en la escuela de la fe y del amor! Para los niños desde Kinder hasta octavo grado las clases comenzarán el 17 de Septiembre. Los for mular ios de inscripción para la catequesis se encuentran en la parte de atrás de la Iglesia. Favor de rellenar un formulario por niño/a y entregarlo en las siguientes fechas: -El Domingo 21 de Agosto, de 9:00am-11:00am y de 1:00pm-2:00pm en el Salón Parroquial. -El Domingo 28 de Agosto, 9:00am-11:00am en el Salón Parroquial. Se les pide amablemente de entregar en el momento de la inscripción: -El acta de nacimiento – si su hijo no está bautizado y tiene más de 7 años. -El acta de bautismo – si su hijo/a va a hacer este año la Primera Comunión (basta que nos dé la fecha del bautismo de su hijo si su hijo/a se bautizó en San José) -Tasa de inscripción. El año pasado acabamos teniendo una deuda de var ios miles de dólar es a r azón de que las entradas por los pagos del catecismo fueron insuficientes para cubrir los gastos del programa. No queremos que suceda esto de nuevo este año. No podemos imponer en este momento cargas económicas a la parroquia. Es importante concientizar a todos los padres de la importancia de apoyar económicamente el programa de la catequesis. Para evitar endeudarnos y debido al incremento de los gastos del programa (libros, actividades durante el curso, compra de nuevos materiales, luz, calefacción, mantenimiento, etc, las tasas de inscripción para el catecismo de este año serán las siguientes: $50 –por 1 niño/a $80 – por 2 niños/as $100 – por 3 ó más niños/as

Se ofrecerá un curso a las parejas que están interesadas en recibir el sacramento del matrimonio y se llevará acabo en la segunda quincena de Agosto, para más información llamar a la rectoría.

FIESTA DE LA ASUNCIÓN El lunes, 15 de Agosto celebramos la Solemnidad de la Asunción de la Virgen María. Es recomendable asistir a Misa, pero este año no es día de precepto.

CONFIRMACIÓN DE ADULTOS Invitamos a todas las personas mayores de 18 años que no hayan recibido aún el sacramento de la Confirmación, de recibirlo en este año próximo. Les recordamos que para ser padrino o madrina de bautismo, uno de los requisitos es estar confirmado. Todos los adultos que deseen recibir la Confirmación han de recibir primero una formación en la fe. Hay 2 opciones:
